tbf to her, she’s not the only pop star who dresses like that while wanging on about feminism or whatever. Madonna, Gaga, Kylie and even Taylor Swift (and many, many others) all dress skimpily for their shows and on other occasions so it’s nothing new.

Re the dancing - she’s always been one for not taking herself too seriously so I’m not completely shocked by it, but the rest of what I’ve seen is so lacklustre. It’s really like her heart’s not in it at all. I think the backlash has started to get to her and she’s taken a huge knock to her confidence. Weird how it’s the space thing that seems to be the thing that’s finally broken her though.
She was already on the edge because of working with Dr Luke but there were people who defended him and Katy so while the backlash was bad, she still had people in her corner. I think that with everything she has got away with over the years and the hypocrisy coming from her as she often talked about climate change and it was the final limit with even her own fans calling her out.

As for her tour, that's seemingly where the money comes from now, not the records. That's why you are getting really big names like GaGa, Beyonce etc putting out loads of dates and in some cases, adding more on even though they aren't selling great. It's obvious when watching fancams that a lot of the artists are just phoning it in.

Katy doesn't need the money at all from this tour. She's easily earnt half a billion dollars with selling off her successful music (just at the right time a few years ago), idol for a couple of years, many well attended tours, brand deals etc. She's apparently selling off her apple cider vinegar company at the moment to make a small fortune.

She wanted to tour for her own ego.

It's going to be a long slog if she looks that uncomfortable on night one. They're going to need to give away and discount a lot of tickets to fill the North American stadiums.

I work for a large global tech company, she performed at our private concert (T-mobile stadium in Vegas) two years ago and was AWFUL! She also played at the recent chairmans club event in Hawaii, she makes big buck at these private events

There's no money in touring anymore either - that's partly why ticket prices have shot up, it's become really expensive to stage tours apparently. Merch, beauty brands and performing to billionaires are the only real source of money for artists now.

The stories have started already about her trying to get a way out of it but still getting money from insurance so I wouldn't be surprised if she starts dropping hints and then posts she has something that is bad enough it will have to be rescheduled at a 'later date'.

To be honest, I don't blame her. I'm guessing she figured there would be a bit of a backlash but not this bad. She has already had to cancel shows in Mexico because the stadiums weren't going to be ready in time. Even discounting the tickets doesn't seem to be enough as her first US date is May 7 in Houston and over half the arena is still available to buy and others have only 1/3 being sold.

Yeah, I'm starting to see that. There was a story in the Daily Mail about Beyonce tickets on resale sites as low as $20-30 and they still aren't selling. That won't bother her as she already has the money from the tickets, but I can't see her being happy if she ends up having to perform to half empty arenas.

The increase in fuel prices has made it difficult to tour, not only in terms of travel costs but the cost of running the show itself. Also insurance has gone through the roof since Covid.

I'm being chased by Beyonce to buy her tickets :cautious:

Top tier artists make a lot from touring, and I think Katy will still make $40-60 million from this. But that's more due to her back catalogue and she hasn't toured in years so she's sold out most places outside of the US.

She's doing 4 nights in Adelaide but that's the only place with high demand. Australia seems to always overpay for Katy due to being so far away from *everything*.

At least, unlike Jlo, this tour actually happened!

Just had a look at Houston seems to be pretty sold out on ticketmaster, there's lots of tickets avalible but they're resale ones so effectively Katy has already sold them. Is there another site I should be looking it?

Well could be a lot worse, I'm in NZ and dream of Aldi and Aus prices!

At least you guys have the most Katy Perry dates outside of the US

Nah you are right. It was the media who claimed it, but they didn't specify they were talking about resale. It was only when I checked myself after your comment that I saw it. I always forget that if they claim something is blue, it's going to actually be purple. :)

I think it was true back in Feb/Mar but she's slowly started to shift most of the US tickets since then. Although she's only doing one night in each location.

The next album will be announced or something at the last show in Dubai, I bet she's getting a kickback from them.

Could be a hater artist buying them. 50 cent did this to Ja Rule and bought the first few rows of a stadium so it would be empty when he performed. Cold but funny lol.

Is it just me or does she look like she’s on a lot of drugs lately
She claims the altitude had something to do with her performing not being 100% as well as her fighting off a bug which is why she was so floopy.

Always the jump to trolls about anything negative  . While Katy has been criticised everywhere she chose to work with a rapist for her comeback

---

Earlier this week American singer Katy Perry, best known for her bubblegum pop, said she felt like a "human Piñata" after weeks of online backlash.

The description felt suitably colourful - but the acknowledgement was serious. A decade on from headlining the Superbowl, Perry's part in a much-derided Blue Origin spaceflight has seen her star crash down to Earth.

Mockery over the apparent worthiness of her reaction, including kissing the ground after landing and saying she felt "so connected to love", spread online. Fast food chain Wendy's even posted to ask: "Can we send her back?"

Trolls have now taken aim at her world tour, which began in Mexico on 23 April, criticising her dance moves and performances.
