I watched the video last night. Not sure how I feel about it really. Genuinely feel terrible for them over the infertility issues they seem to have- trying for that many years and still no ‘result’ would be heartbreaking.

that said that is where my sympathy ends. I feel like she has got used to travelling and the YouTube vlogger lifestyle and just wants to focus on that and by saying they want more slow travel to do creative work is a bit of an excuse. I think when the other staff member expressed they wanted to leave she was worried about being somebodies boss and being a boss to a non family member and realised she couldn’t do it. All really strange and think she is very privileged to be able to just shut up shop so to speak like that.

To be able to not just carry on travelling at the rate she does but to actually travel more when shutting her business… the money, the privilege. How can she fund that lifestyle going forwards??

By slow travel she clearly means travelling without the pressure of coming back to an actual job. She’s done what they all do, had a taste of travel paid for by other people and now she wants that to be her “job”.

True. TBH I dont know anything about Rainylune but kawaii mixed with violence is at least different and the design is much cleaner.
i wouldn't recognise a katnipp character outside of katnipp at all.

One thing that sets Katnipp apart from other small UK creators is she never actually seems to attend physical events? Like she's never bothered with comic con or anime cons or places that she could actually market her work. Seems very odd to me as cons are the best place to make easy sales for these things.

She used to do conventions. The very first video on the channel is her at something called SunnyCon. She did a few vlogs about them but there hasn’t been one for years now.

I knew she had ambitions to be a travel vlogger but I think she overestimates her creativity in producing those kind of videos. They’re ok if you watch one or two, but they are so formulaic. If you miss one, it’s not the end of the world as you pretty much know what’s involved. Breathily squealing how cute/amazing everything is in between eating food, going round shops, Dean trying to avoid the camera and travelling on public transport is about all you get.

What gets me is that if her community is so important , why has she not replied to ANY of the kind and supportive comments on her announcement post ? ? Just seems abit rude !

I wouldn’t be at all surprised. I’m not buying that this decision has been a long time coming. There’s absolutely nothing to support that. Only last week she was buying Mike that sticky label machine for over a hundred quid (quality content there Catherine ) and a couple of days later she’s jacking it in? Something has happened. Something sudden. Let’s look at what she says in the video, not all the fluffy crap about creative integrity but the stuff that’s most likely behind this. Firstly their desire to be parents and possibly being told by medics that she needs to slow down/reduce stress. Of course, anyone else would cut back on the galavanting, vlogging and keeping up multiple social media accounts. Instead she’s chosen to carry on with all of that and cut back on the actual job. I also think the bit about Mike and the prospect of employing someone new was very telling too. He’s been at that studio working while Catherine and the husband, both now “company directors“, duck off on very expensive holidays every three weeks. It would be completely understandable if he decided that packing cuddly toys and licking envelopes for them wasn’t the career he had in mind and told them he’s out. They couldn’t possibly employ someone to take responsibility for that business like Mike does every time they’re away without paying a very large salary and putting a massive amount of trust in a stranger.
And maybe this mysterious property company that Dean’s a Director of is something to do with it too.

it doesn't add up...sold out launches, big plans with that massive free printer ( I guess she had a year with that and did nothing, so maybe she just waffles for the camera with "plans" to see if there is interest?) , they just bought that tape thingy Mike was so excited about for saving time in the future. But there is no future? POD means no stock, no packing at home... I just don't get it... maybe she has been pretending to be more successful than she actually was ? Or she did not have her taxes done correctly and got a huge fine maybe??? I would love to hear other peoples theories!

Something doesn’t add up… I do wonder about their financial situation (someone posted on here a while back) that Dean was using her surname for another business …?seems a bit dodgy to me.

I’m pretty sure you’re required to use your correct name. I suppose he could have taken her name when they married but if that’s the case why register as director of the property company in his own name in August 23, then as director of Katnipp in her name in December 24?

Mike had another business too. Equine equipment, saddles, tack etc. he used to be listed as director up until 2022 when the company was dissolved. Now it’s changed its name and his wife seems to be running it.
