Katie Piper

I’m surprised she hasn’t got a thread already.

Prior to 2008, Katie Piper was a promo girl and appeared on some shopping channels. In March 2008, she was the victim of an awful acid attacking following an abusive relationship. She waived her right to anonymity in 2009 to relay her story in a Channel 4 documentary (although I can definitely remember reading about what had happened to her on the Digital Spy forums before this, as that website had a community that was quite obsessed with late night digital TV). Since 2009, she has appeared on numerous TV shows (including Strictly) and is now a Loose Woman. Her career is now in a vastly different place post-attack (she didn’t even have a Wikipedia page until around the time of the Channel 4 doc).

Hopefully I can share this in the safe space that is Tattle but I honestly am flabbergasted that she continues to get booked for things. She seems pleasant enough but has absolutely no charisma and could you talk to paint off a wall. She’s been on Loose Women for over a year now and I can’t recall a single interesting anecdote or funny moments that she has provided.

Obviously, what happened to her was horrific and extremely sad. It’s quite weird that this even needs to be said but her public persona is so wrapped up in the crime that was committed against her that it is almost necessary to clarify this when you are even slightly critical of her in other areas. It seems almost sacrilegious to not like her.

This might be a bizarre comparison but the hype around her makes her seem like the forefather of Captain Tom. An inspirational story that never went away.

Totally agree she seems nice enough but i don't feel she has any "talent" for showbiz. I think she was brave to put her story out there and hopefully has been an inspiration to anyone who has facial disfurements. I'm not a fan.

She did some pretty explicit stuff on Babestation, Zoo etc back in the day. I think it's taboo to mention that in the media given her current career path

She seems pleasant enough on tv at least, I don't find her interesting as a guest though

Why did her fiancee/husband suddenly agree to being named and photographed? Originally he 'wanted to stay private' and was not in Hello mag photoshoots or named

I used to really like the programme she did on channel 4 called bodyshockers.

I’m not bothered about the way she made a living before her attack, i like her.

I think she seems pleasant enough but I'm intrigued why the soft porn stuff is never mentioned with her, it would be with any other celeb?
Yes – I don’t think that @MrsBsDayOff’s post was intended to shame KP in anyway. It just adds another dimension to the story.

I must admit, I just googled “Katie Piper Babestation“ and was completely (alarmed and) unaware of this part of her story. I suppose that the “pretty TV presenter is seriously disfigured in an acid attack” angle was better than the “Katie Price wannabe is seriously disfigured in an acid attack” one?

Exactly, that's the point I'm trying to make. I don't think she should be ashamed of it, just curious why this fairly large aspect of her career is not mentioned, just that she was a 'tv presenter'

I really admire her for not letting the acid attack ruin her life. I wouldn't be that strong.

I think she's quite inoffensive, but I'd rather she be a Loose Women then some of the ghastly women they have on the panel.

I do notice that she's a bit old school when it comes to the sexism stuff. She always mentions that young boys especially should be told to tidy up after themselves, and she always says she hates it when her husband says he did something "for her".

I kind of get it but I find it a bit smug and tiresome. I think of it as the Gemma Arterton approach to sexism. All a bit smug and twee.

But yeah I also remember when she first was attacked, she was very much a "glamour girl". At odds with her persona now. But she says she found Jesus so that might be why lol.

Now that you mention it, I don't actually see the hype around her because the personality is not there. But I do think her level of fame is more of a positive than a negative. She can be someone people can look up to. I'm glad she chose to share her story because it must've helped people who were attacked in a similar way or have a facial disfigurement and have lost confidence or feel insecure

I looked at her Instagram. A lot of ads/gifted stuff some involving the kiddies, but at least her 2 daughters faces are covered, hope she continues that.
Hubby seems nice going by her description of him in her book (I read extracts in daily mail)
She has set up a separate insta page to document the renovation of her new house. Wonder is there gonna be a TV show about it?
I can't imagine how awful an experience she went through. Terrifying to think that people like her attacker walk among us

Iirc, the actual attacker was approached via letter by a woman who wanted to be his girlfriend and they became a couple. Whilst he was in prison

So not terrifying for everyone.
I seem to remember their relationship made rhe press. Perhaps they married or he was released.

What?!?! To think someone actually wanted to go out with that cockroach, knowing he had attacked his previous girlfriend with acid. No words.

Yes. Most definitely. It was talked about in our bit of London..

A woman has been threatened with having her ‘face burned off’ by the wife of Katie Piper’s acid attacker.

Danielle Burke sent a string of messages to Jasmine Middleton, warning her that her partner Stefan Sylvestre would ‘melt her ex-boyfriend’s face off too’.

‘You know what my husband was in jail for… I will get him to burn your face off, you white b***h,’ Danielle wrote.

From Metro.

In the documentary post acid attack, her mother and father seemed like very nice decent people and somewhat conservative (not in a bad way) so it could be part of her upbringing that she likes traditional values.

I quite like her dress sense actually.

Lost all respect for Katie Piper this last week. Her dire and awful comments made about the Gothic Community!! Calling a mother and baby toxic and satanic for dressing themselves and their home in a gothic fashion. Do better Katie!! You of all people should know better. Look up Sarah Lancaster

As long as she doesn't follow in the footsteps of Price, katona and Westbrook, she is alright by me.
