Is anyone else finding KR more and more unrelatable these days?

I know what you mean. I still like her and I appreciate she's honest about Violet going to private school, having private medical care etc. but I've thought recently that she seems really, really bratty. She acknowledges her privilege but the section on her latest podcast where Violet was calling her out for her crappy behaviour to service staff...I was like

I suspect this might be an unpopular opinion, given how many positive comments there are on this thread, but I think she’s awful! Unfunny, fake and generally comes across as an arrogant, unpleasant person.
I always change the channel if she pops up on screen. Even if it’s one of her dreadful Wowcher adverts!

Yes!! This 100%! Like you say she ALWAYS says how privileged she is but then continues to brag and be a brat! When violet called her out I was loving every second of it, to be honest I’m surprised she didn’t re record that part

I used to think she was something else but these past few years she’s changed massively. I’m

the only time I’ve liked her was when she was on 'who do you think you are'. She seemed genuinely sweet. Contrast that to an episode of the late night version of countdown she did and the actress who played neighbour Cheryl in The Royle Family was also on. Katherine did a little speech in which she was absolutely misogynistic and VILE and everytime the camera cut to 'Cheryl' she was laughing like a drain.

I've hated the pair of them since. Be a feminist all you want but we need men to survive, there’s no need to pretend the female species is superior we're equal.

I could never understand why she was constantly on The Last Leg. Between her frozen face and my partial loss of hearing, she was mostly impossible to understand and what could be understood wasn't funny. Mind you, I can't stand Rosie Jones though Johnny Vegas seems less of a head than he used to be. He could probably replace Smug Widdecombe.

I work in tv/entertainment and I’ve met a lot of famous people/celebrities… KR is genuinely the nicest of them all. I was pleasantly surprised - I think her media persona is just that - an exaggerated, characterised version of herself. She’s lovely, humble and just seemed “normal”. Jimmy Carr on the other hand…

Yes of course she's unrelatable in the sense that she's a millionaire! I had to lol on one of the podcasts when she said she got a private helicopter to the Isle of Wight or somewhere as it was quicker than getting a ferry. Crazy life!

She is always pretty open about her privilege and does acknowledge how lucky she is, and I liked her admitting to trying to get an influencer discount on her recent trip and how tit it made her feel.

I think violet just sounds like she's at an age where your mum complaining about anything is embarrassing!

I find her relationship with bobby k interesting, I know they went out when they were teenagers but their recent marriage & baby all happened so quickly. They seem really happy though so I hope it lasts.

Glad to hear she’s nice. She has always been open about her privilege and how proud she was that she is the first female in her family to own property without a man. She does seem to want the posher things in life but why not? She works hard enough for it.

I don’t like the notion she would be rude to service staff though but as someone else pointed out a Violet could be at the age where her mams every breath is embarrassing. Her relationship with Bobby is interesting. What does he do? Is he a stay at home husband / travel companion to mind their son while she’s working?

Agree that it's good to hear she's nice IRL. Tbf, of the two examples of the serving staff issue, I don't think she was rude in the first scenario (almond milk). In the second, I do think she was rude but she did acknowledge that she could have said it differently. Notwithstanding a few minor gripes, I think she's pretty awesome and without a doubt a million times better than most people discussed on Tattle haha.

It seems to me that Katherine Ryan has modelled herself on Joan Rivers, who was also supposed to be 'lovely' offstage and had a complex relationship with her daughter, Melissa.
Am in two minds about her, becoming increasingly disaffected with her onscreen persona but wanting to like her at the same time. I think she's pretty insecure, for all her sass.

Has anyone read her book that just came out? I'm reading it at the moment and some of her past relationships were crazy, I would love to know who those men are as they all seemed to be people she met through the entertainment business. It's a good read and I find her to be really honest about her flaws

See I listened to it and thought that Violet was being a bit dramatic or OTT to embarrass her mum and that Katherine wasn’t actually being rude. If I asked for no milk and the man at the coffee shop put milk in my drink I’d be annoyed too.
Violet has a unique accent. Some of her letters almost veer into West Country but the rest is southern England. I did think it was because she was surrounded by Canadians but I know people who’s parents are Irish and another with Indian ones and they don’t have a hint of their parents accents?

In one of her tours years ago she talked about how her daughters dad was an older famous tv star in the US.

Has it ever come out who Violet’s dad is? Katherine said in a podcast he was a bit older than her. I did find it interesting that Violet referred to Bobby as Dad so I thought that maybe her bio Dad wasn’t in the picture but then a few weeks later Katherine said he was going to keep one of their dogs.

I don't think it's worth starting a whole thread on him but am glad to find other people who think Jimmy Carr is an hole! I had no opinion on him either way until recently...

I don't follow him anywhere, I don't think, but got a targeted ad on Twitter with a clip from his new Netflix special. In the clip, he's talking back to a heckler (who didn't even say anything that bad) and says "Kelly, I'm going to go soft on you- like every man you've ever met", followed by his horrific guffaw that makes me want to put a pneumatic drill through my earholes just so I don't have to listen to it. Then another "zinger"- "Kelly, you're what dimmer switches were invented for"- like who comes out with this tit in 2022?

I couldn't tell if he was trying to be "ironically" horrible or what, but he's just not funny either way.

Not any tea as such, nothing overly exciting anyway. Could list off people who were nicer/less nice than expected though! Graham Norton, Nick Offerman, Fleur East, Janet Street Porter and Sheridan Smith (random selection, but the ones that stand out most to me haha), all gorgeously lovely people. Stacey Solomon, Tracey Ann Oberman, Anna Friel… meh!
