He is also therefore suggesting that all gay men would happily get their fool out and play with it on people. No, they wouldn't.

Gay men already have this obsessed with sex and wicks reputation, to dismiss what he did in such a way feeds that reputation.

And even IF the gay argument is accepted for women. What about straight and gay men on set.

Unfortunately he has been protected and enabled for so long he doesn't see a problem

I've just seen the celebs that are supporting him on Instagram post...actually quite disgusting. Especially Ashley banjo who is quick to jump on anything race related, but he is perfectly OK with this

I think John Barrowman is vile. He just does not seem to get that what he did is not acceptable. It’s not “tomfoolery“ it’s offensive, not in the least bit funny and some of the accounts of what he did verge on sexual assault. Who the hell honestly thinks someone waving their fool around to all and sundry in the workplace is funny?

The only issue I have with all of this is the timing, especially with DOI.

John Barrowman has been doing this for a long time. It is well known in those circles. It seems to be that it was treated and accepted that it was done in a joking way and not as sexually predatory behavior. It is often been discussed and has been addressed previously. He apologised for this behaviour in 2008 and as far as I am aware he has modified his behaviour since.

So, why all the outrage now? Has it really taken 13 years for everyone to be outraged? Did ITV have no idea about his when he went into I'm A Celeb? When he was given the job on DOI? His musical shows? The BBC when he he was was doing Dr Who or the conventions?

I'm not a big fan of Barrowman but DOI will have known about this before they employed him for family friendly prime time show.
I don’t disagree with your questioning, but I wonder if there are other occasions that he has behaved in this manner that have not yet seen the light of day . I guess this remains to be seen.

Apparently it was his 'thing'and he did it fairly regularly. It was basically a running joke to such an extent that the cast and crew of Doctor Who did a song about it!

Exactly. If it turns out he was doing when he was on I'm A Celeb or something then that's a different ball game. That's someone who hasn't modified their behaviour.

I'd assume journalists are investigating him, he has a long TV and theatre career. I'm sure if there are more stories people will be coming forward

Looks like he has been pulled from a panto as well. He was meant to appear in a Bristol panto but is no longer doing it.

He says that it is due to his tour because it has been rescheduled- as if! Face-saving. Panto is very lucrative.

The article is what I’d expect. The photos accompanying it are not, they don’t seem to fit the tone somehow.

Have you ever seen the Doctor Who wrap video by David Tennant and Catherine Tate (with Barrowman)? It's called the Ballad of Russel and Julie.

One of the stanzas goes: "I can’t block out, please lock out, Images of Johnny B getting his c*ck out."

This was 2011 if memory serves.

It was common knowledge.

I just don't get it, I'm 40 and I can't think any time in my life in any setting where his behaviour would have been OK or accepted as jokey.

Just because it wasn't sexual assault (which could be debatable) or intended sexually isn't the point. It could be intimidating or just plain making people uncomfortable. You can lighten the mood without your fool. And the fact celebs that like to call out bad behaviour appear to support him is incredible disappointing and hypocritical

I see lots of people on Twitter defending him and the argument of “why aren’t you calling out Noel Clarke instead” type comments but surely that’s because the generally feeling is that the exposè came out on Noel, the victims and the public had their moment with it, he lost his awards etc and he’s very much seen as already “cancelled” that’s why his name has gone silent on social media.

I think with John there’s not really been that big moment as it was overshadowed by Noel being the big shock story and because of that he probably thinks he’s got an opportunity to be seen as the lesser p who’s now deeply regretful and thus has a shot at saving his career.
