I wonder if he got it out when he was in the the jungle in I'm a Celebrity get me out of here
I suspect he knew that acting is full of enablers and people who won't say anything in order to not offend the talent. In DoI he wasnt the star, so couldnt get away with doing it to Jayne Torvill!

Lorraine Kelly, the Loose Women have all been quiet. They are all guilty of enabling 'friend of the show

The BBC is getting a lot of flack for hiding poor behaviour, but ITVs incestuous policy of cross over of people in shows and supporting other shows on the channel creates the same toxic atmosphere

He has mostly huge support on IG with only a few saying that he would have been fired for his behaviour from any other job. Same if his supporters are saying that people who are criticising him are homophobic what nonsense!

I'm gay and tbh I'm ashamed that he represents me in anyway. It's an awful gay stereotype and needs to stop. Not all gay men are obsessed with their wicks and perve on everyone and such high profile representation should not reflect these stereotypes, and even worse not see anything wrong in what they did.

Also we want equality, and i don't want being gay used as some excuse for poor behaviour. If a straight man or woman wouldn't get away with it then neither should a gay man. The motives maybe slightly different but the impact on others is the same.

I'd argue that these fans are being homophobic by enabling and supporting such behaviour and stereotypes.

He's done a tik tok thanking all his fans -, thanking them for all their support and kindness - like he's the victim in this. Incredible!!!

The only issue I have with all of this is the timing, especially with DOI.

John Barrowman has been doing this for a long time. It is well known in those circles. It seems to be that it was treated and accepted that it was done in a joking way and not as sexually predatory behavior. It is often been discussed and has been addressed previously. He apologised for this behaviour in 2008 and as far as I am aware he has modified his behaviour since.

So, why all the outrage now? Has it really taken 13 years for everyone to be outraged? Did ITV have no idea about his when he went into I'm A Celeb? When he was given the job on DOI? His musical shows? The BBC when he he was was doing Dr Who or the conventions?

I'm not a big fan of Barrowman but DOI will have known about this before they employed him for family friendly prime time show.

Oh completely, it's never been OK and I've never understood how he has got away with that (and I'm sure other things too). I don't believe things just stopped in 2008. Like that journalist who said JB made comments to him that made him uncomfortable. Using being gay as an excuse has got to stop.

As always it's only when a light is forcibly shone on a situation that anything happens.

I'm not condoning his behaviour and I don't know if he has modified it or not. If he'd lobbed his gob on my shoulder I'd have hit it so hard he wouldn't have got it back in his pants but I'm sure as far as he was concerned he thought it was dealt with. It's pathetic for ITV and the BBC to take action now. They should have the balls to say we knew about this behaviour, he's apologised, it hasn't occurred again and we back him. They're as culpable as him.

I don't understand how ITV have taken action against John Barrowman, yet Phillip Schofield gets off scot free?
Someone please explain this to me.
Both of them disgust me.

Schofield is all rumour, the press skirting around it and his and ITVs PR machine working over time. His coming out was a big damage limitation. It just needs some.concrete accusations to come out or stories be sold.

It's the same everywhere , if you're important enough the powers that be will protect you as long as they can

Panto producers have to follow suit really, I can't see how they can let him continue in sucha family focused form of entertainment

So much two faceness though from itv and people. Everyone has known what he is like and I doubt he has changed all that much since 2008. Even his apology now isn't really an admittance he was wrong, he is weirdly obsessed with his dixk for a grown man and he doesn't come across as someone who thinks he didn anything wrong. his attitude also helps support some negative stereotypes of gay men
I was reading about this case today. In the article it said John had apologised for the incident in November 2008 and since then had not happened again. How did he remember the date? Also said article has his husband having a go as John has been ‘viciously trolled’ by some people on social media. Er, excuse me, pot, kettle? Ok to flash your fool though wasn’t it?

This is another one of those difficult cases where if you criticise his behaviour you’re open to accusations of homophobia.

I used to like John on children’s TV but maybe he’s changed?

Schofield comes out on tv to elicit sympathy ( hes so brave, etc) - whats brave about that? A pained poor-hard-done-by expression all over his face, etc ....
He only came out to circumvent the real news coming out over that teen lad .

And all the stories of him being a backstage bully were instantly stopped. His time will come….I hope!

Apparently he was called in by the producers of Torchwood so I wonder if it was an official warning or something.
Accusations of homophobia are just gas lighting imo. No Gay man I have ever worked with has flashed his fool around at work. It sounds like he did it to shock and got away with it until he was told not to do it. If he had been told to stop it the first time he did it it would have saved him and a lot of other people a lot of hassle but it sounds like he was surrounded by cowards and enablers.

And Eamonn and Ruth booted from the Friday slot. Wouldn't have anything to do with Ruth standing up to Pip would it 🤔

As for John Barrowman's supporters saying it's homophobic they need to give their heads a wobble. He's behaved like a fool (see what I did there ;) ). The question is , has he done it since and modified his behaviour?

I despise this argument that it was "banter" and that you are homophobic if you say otherwise. I'm sorry but I cannot see any circumstance whereby it is normal or acceptable behaviour to be shaking your genitalia around in the workplace. If it was literally *anyone* else, including gay women, they would be ripped to shreds but for some reason we all just have to have a giggle if it's a gay man. No. It's disgusting behaviour and says ALOT about the person doing it. I'd also like to think most gay men would be horrified to have behaviour like that associated with them, as if it's just a natural byproduct of male to male same sex attraction.

In a way a simple argument for him is if a teacher/police officer/doctor etc got their pen out at work repeatedly they would hopefully either be seriously reprimanded or worse case fired. The reason we wear clothes is exactly this, it’s not funny or clever it’s at best sad and attention seeking. I’ve no sympathy as it’s not even a one off stunt.
