I've always thought he wears a breast plate, but I've not seen much of a edge around the armholes. If you look at the reflection in the mirror behind him it looks like there's a crease/indentation around the top of his arm, the front view is hidden by his wig.
I've been looking at photos too, when people say they think it's a breastplate, but where's the bit around the neck? I think the top of the neckline is high, so it's under his jaw, he always poses with his chin down and his hair (some woman's hair??) covering everything up. The wigs are always long enough to hide a multitude of things- I wonder if he has any natural hair under them at all, some of the older pics of him as Rodrigo look like he was receding already. I think he's had implants but he couldn't go as big as he wanted - they are humungous - so he wears a breast plate.

Yes, I remember those photos.
