Everyone's trying to understand why he would go that why but its simple. He was a stupid teenage boy and fucked around and found out. It's what teenage boys are known for - doing dumb things that make fuck all sense.

New thread to discuss Jay Slater, the teen who went missing in Tenerife and has now been found deceased.

His GFM originally started to help bring him home currently stands at £71,910. Stories are conflicting whether it has been used and what it’s being used for.

carrying on from
71k 🤦🏼‍♂️ I wholeheartedly agree with whoever said that they need closing once the desired goal is reached, but greed takes over and that won't happen :(

As a mother of a son in his 20’s I have brought him up to the best of my abilities. He’s witnessed divorce and warring parents but has gained a degree and represented the university at rowing and other sports. It’s his friends and other influences in the UK that has been my worry. You can bring your children up well but if the chav influence pollutes their mind. It’s a slippy slope.

I do completely understand and agree however unless he dropped a pill directly before leaving the air b&b which would make him trip the timescales suggested would allow time for him to be coming down and there’s generally a complete misunderstanding of the effect of other party drugs and the level of inhibition they give. If Ayubs account is true and he went straight to bed - Jay was in there for around an hour with an hours car journey there…I don’t know but the theory he was off his head so wandered off is possible but in my opinion unlikely.

Even wrecked he’s been sober enough to report being injured on the phone so knows he’s been hurt. That to me shows some level of being lucid. To then CONTINUE getting hurt through that terrain? Seeing that video above I struggle to see how he could have made the decision to continue on such a dangerous path while already being aware he was injured.

He knew when he called Lucy cut up from a cactus and where the phone ping was (which is somewhere between 30-60 mins walk from where he was actually found) he was injured and if he turned round at that point and retraced his steps he’d be hopping straight on a bus instead of a supposed 9-10 hour walk. But he decided not to??

I do think it’s possible, I just think it’s unlikely.

Edit to clarify - what I’m saying is I don’t think it’s likely he’s done it SOLELY because he was under the influence. I believe other factors have contributed to his decision making.
Yes - exactly what I've been thinking. A lot of people have been saying "well he was off his nut" or "he was high and didn't know what he was doing". That isn't how drugs work. If he was really fucked up at the time there would be no way he would be snap chatting coherently and writing texts or even manage to get as far as he did when his phone pinged.

Drugs also don't make you think a 10 hour walk is preferable to waiting 2 hours for a bus.

Come downs make you feel like shit but they don't have you tweaking out like some meth head. If he was worried I doubt it was drug induced paranoia.

The 🤮 emoji seems a strange choice for a relative to use, I mean obviously a rotten body would make you feel sick but it just seems weird to use in their post.
Right?!

Oh my God. These people are shocking. I'd be livid and devastated if one of my family members used a sick emoji to describe something like that.

Of all the tackiness with the funeral/guests etc, the building company name on the back of t-shirts is bad taste (in my opinion) 🫣
I’m surprised they didn’t add their phone number and a picture of the extension they completed last week.

Hey if people want to gift you a funeral when you're going through immense pain then
Why not it's a way for others to pay respects to Jay and help the family. I gave money for a bench to a family who lost a baby. That little is a lot for some but the biggest gift to anyone is kindest. In paticularly from strangers because we don't expect it and it restores faith in humanity.

I think turning up to a funeral, paying into a fund are all great ways of showing support to a family in pain. They are broken, lost.

I use my own life experience to help other people going through tough times if I can make it easier with advice, loving support or financial help or just by sending a warm message on a comments page I'm sure going to do it just like so many others. Let's be glad we live in a world with people who have the empathy for others.
It's nice to see.

Right now that's a family who have lost a sibling, a child. Their youngest. That immense pain is immeasurable. Knowing they won't have him wake them up, annoy thrm; cuddle them. You miss it all when you lose a sibling or child. You lose a part of you that you need to reco struct to face the world again.

Jay is the one they looked after and they will still be struggling to sleep and waking up hoping his death is just some nightmare.
You can't get use to losing a child as a parents life generally revolved around them and that pain runs deep and despite the furore over the criminal trouble he got into ( yes it's bad I know!) is still someone's boy, somebodies best friend and worthy of being loved and missed. Even by strangers. I know I'm one of them.

We all hope that family have the closure and have the love and the support to help ease their raw pain. RIP Jay 🙏
I agree with most of what you’ve said but how will £72,000 ease their pain? It won’t, nothing will, so why don’t they give it to a missing persons charity in memory of Jay where it would hopefully help other families going through a similar thing?

Pop up banners. For a DJ. At a funeral. I’ve seen it all now 😱 ‘who was it that played your boys funeral again, looking to book someone’ said nobody ever!!!

At the end of the day it is sad that a young lad lost his life. It is even sadder that his family will never know exactly what happened.
If foul play was involved, the perpetrators got away with it as it's being passed off as an accident.
I guess it's what they call the perfect crime.
---
There was a lad I went to school with who tried to walk 3 hours home in the pitch black along a motorway pissed as a fart in the middle of the night and got hit by a car and died on the scene. I was sorry for his death but he was a nasty little cunt who thought he was invincible and paid the ultimate price. People do the stupidest shit when they are young, especially when drugs and alcohol are involved. I said before Jay wouldn't have tackled terrain like that with any sense but the more I think about it the more I think maybe he would, he clearly had a history of terrible decisions.
Years ago my brother and a few mates went on a stag do to the Lake District. They went on a walk and after a few drinks the stag thought it would be a laugh to jump off a cliff or mountain (not sure) into what he thought was a deep river. Turned out to be a lot shallower than he thought. Miraculously he survived but was crippled for life 😔

Fully suspect DTR will be live streaming or sharing something tacky about the funeral (since he's shared that how he is travelling back to the UK for it 🙄🤢).

He will need that last boost from the income that jumping on Jay's disappearance and death has provided him with.

" my brotha has offered to help look an fly to tenerife but he's just bin released on licence..." 😆😆😆💀

And that woman in a mobility gurney offering her help , on a mountain......... 😆😆😆😆

It was a shit-show from start to finish, including his funeral.

£72,000 +, and a gifted funeral service....
