A few years back I heard the Salt Path woman being interviewed on Radio 4, I think it was something about quaking and shaking as the bailiffs hammered on he door (also see Jack Monroe). It sounded like balls and I have no idea why anyone took them seriously.

What's the psychology of it? So weird...Jack Monroe, Jameela Jamil and this guy - all making up batshit biographies that will absolutely be found out, why do they do it?
There is definitely an almost certainly uncomfortable discussion that needs to be had about tokenism, especially around higher education. But it's not an easy one and Arday’s isn't the saviour, he's just a very naughty boy.
More work needs to be done at all economic and social backgrounds so someone like him can't Billy bull their way to the top whilst building on lies and quicksand.
Some of the richest people's children are thicky thicky dumb dumbs and that's okay but they also shouldn't be in any position of power because of their parents' wealth or status.
However, I do appreciate that many people will be most upset by this but whilst this status quo exists, Arday and his kind will fill, or attempt to, the void.

That first student, who got a lower grade than expected but their appeal was rejected - I wonder if they’d have grounds to resubmit their appeal in light of recent revelations if, for example, a lower grade in that particular module pulled their overall degree classification down?
Because in all the hubbub and drama, there’s a danger of overlooking the fact that the students who were affected by his substandard teaching have been done very dirty indeed.
So he RELEARNED how to talk at 15/16 before he learned to talk at 18?!

Weaponising racism against students who only requested a different supervisor, with good reason, says a lot about how Arday kept the grift going for so long. (Regardless who did the accusing). Imagine how many were afraid to speak up at all. What a sorry state of affairs.

I was thinking this. When I was at uni there were a few lecturers we regarded as being a bit rubbish, but the prospect of raising a formal complaint was very daunting ~ and that's without any of them being an alleged global academic superstar!
I get that things are very different now, given that students now have more 'purchasing power' and unis need to be seen to provide bang for their buck, so maybe the balance of power isn't quite as pronounced nowadays, but even so, as an 18/19/20-yr-old, making your first steps in the world, you'd need balls of steel in order to denounce the most stellar professor in living memory as being 'not very good at his job'.
