Sure, but I doubt we'd be where we are with Arday if Cambridge hadn't been so desperate to have their "youngest ever black Professor" that they didn't bother to assess him with basic common sense let alone background checks.
That doesn't mean any of their other black academics or those from other minority backgrounds aren't eminently qualified but it just gives the people you're talking about more ammunition.
Yes it gives racists something to use as ammunition, not that they need it.
Have we had confirmation of background checks being put aside by Cambridge, and that the reasons were because of race? Or are you assuming. I mean there are plenty of Walter Mitty types in the world, look at The Salt Path, half the grifters on here, who checks anything properly?
Or are you buying in to the racist trope of assuming he got the job because he’s black?
Cambridge Uni has a history of very poor management practice all around) if you’re familiar with it) this isn’t surprising to me.
I think that’s what gets missed when people say it makes it harder for others, instead of just accepting that it will be used we need to call out exactly what is the racism, instead of just saying it’s unfair that it will have an on others.
It’s the racism that’s unfair, from racists.
Centre that, not one idiot “professor”, not the imagined impact, centre the racist weaponising an incident in a racist way to justify racism.
