New investigation from The Times, it’s thorough and damning. Evidence of fabrication and failure to obtain ethical approval.

Professor Jason Arday’s academic research contains “impossible” evidence and is littered with inconsistencies, a new Times analysis of his work has found.
He hasn’t even bothered to lie properly!
Also suffers from Tessica Jaylor’s issues with maths and knowing how many people he interviewed/invented
I did better on faking my GCSE sociology coursework, at least I filled in most of the questionnaires using different pens

I can’t get over this chancer and all those that aided and abetted him.
I presume there will be a Netflix doc on the way.

I really feel for Jack at the THE, they're good folk there. Contrary to popular belief, most journalists care deeply about factual accuracy, fairness, and the sector they work in. For an academic the correct way to deal with an enquiry like this is to explain yourself, not sic the police on them.

Comparisons of early drafts of his book to later versions is showing interesting examples of what he tried to get away with. So slippery

I keep laughing at the unfolding events because wow, the audacity of him but also the stupidity of those taken in by the nonsense.

This is good. A black writer in the Graun putting the boot into progressives for ceding so much territory to the right not properly grappling with the impact of prioritising diversity at all costs https://www.archive.is/oldest/https...rday-dei-race-issues-university-of-cambridge?

I just wish they had shown the same self-reflecrion when championing lying grifter and tit cook Jack "guest" Monroe...

Accepting people's claims without question because they fit a convenient narrative is a recipe for accidentally putting bad apples on pedestals, and in turn makes it for everyone else to be taken seriously.

I've semi-plagiarised (LOL) this idea from another forum, but it's odd that someone who has lived an intense lifetime of overcoming levels of disadvantage that would prove impossible for most people (poverty, mutism, autism, illiteracy, racist death threats, mid-marathon bone fractures, brain tumours, etc.) capitulated the second Cambridge announced the ensuing investigation.

He's overcome far worse thus far, so if there's nothing untoward to be found in his backstory, why scarper?

It's hard to put the genie back in the bottle at this point, even those who are actually qualified for their positions can easily be viewed as a "diversity hire" or "filling a quota" when the people or institutions hiring them and/or the media only seem interested in whatever demographic(s) they fit into.

Arday referred to being good at cutting /making clothes himself - his mother helped & encouraged him. This was in the Bath interview. Said he could be/thought of being a tailor & referenced Ozwald Boateng

Is there NOTHING he can't turn his hand to and excel? Can't wait for his autobiography, although which part of the bookshop will it be in - autobiography or fiction?

I'm a competent runner maybe a bit better/ faster than your average middle aged woman. But I'm not and was never county running club standard. Even I know that the running claims were extreme and only achievable by a minority of people. You might be able to run a marathon every day if that's pretty much all you did & you had access to ice baths /physio. Running on a fracture not only painful but potential long term harm.

So many nonsensical things that never got challenged.

The more revelations come out, the more Arday’s shunning of social media seems less laudable and more like a conscious strategy to avoid anyone who knows him and coming across any of his more outlandish claims having a right to reply.
