My child would have to fight me for my blue cheese!
Surprise! Being a child she doesn't like it, so there is no actual fighting children for cheese in my house.
As you were...

I'm having Monroe-fatigue, bit just once more, the falafel recipe is not falafel. Just call them veggie balls or something similar. It's pasta e ceci all over again.

Most adults I know don't. 😂 It's an acquired taste cheese. They like all the other fancy cheeses but the stilton is left on the cheeseboard.
I must have been a weird child, I‘ve always loved blue cheese and olives  I was so excited when I found a decent vegan blue cheese a few months back

No one proofs them. No one - No one- ever makes them. I can guarantee not one soul will ever make any of those recipes. No one will even see them. We only did because somebody sleuthed them out!

And yet... someone paid JM money for them. Someone took those pictures and formatted her poorly written guff.

Strange netherworld of pointless activity!

Nipping in mid-grunk before the end of the thread to add my adulation and thanks to @Switchstreetz on all the amazing attention to detail of the Sloppies. Simply Fab.U.Luss, darling x

I’m guessing that wasn’t a one and done job….

What? Vegan blue cheese? Tell me more.

On topic, the potato recipe instructs us to replace cheese and bacon with vegan alternatives. What about the mayo, Jack?

To state the blindingly obvious, just saying replace any meat, dairy and egg in this recipe with vegan alternatives is not the same as actually providing a vegan alternative recipe. It's a nonsense. Vegan cheese and bacon are expensive and most vegans will not have lots if this stuff lying around. I have currently 0% vegan cheese or bacon in my house and rarely do. I have some vegan sausages in the freezer, vegan butter, vegan yoghurt and vegan milk.

Children do have funny tastebuds. Some are ok with pungent flavours , but I do think it’s a new kind of thing. In the olden days we just had cheese. Red cheese pale cheese or cream cheese. All easily available just about anywhere.
The thing is,though when I was a young girl cheese was very expensive. I have noticed that it’s going up in price again.

Re the recipe with blue cheese, yes consumption comes with safeguard recommendations especially for very young children. V young child in Scotland died of E. coli a few years back after parents said they’d served a meal made with unpasteurised blue cheese.

Yes that bugs me too. It’s easy to make a sweeping statement like ‘make this vegan by swapping the meat for vegan products’ but err doesn’t that apply for literally every recipe in the world? You could make vegan bacon wrapped meatloaf if you just swapped the bacon for facon and the mince for quorn mince, but that wouldn’t mean it would be cheap, healthy, or appetising. She doesn’t even provide things like adjusted cooking times for the alternatives. I would assume meat alternatives need different cooking methods and timing than real meat. Her recipes are as sloppy as her food.

If you’re ever in doubt as to whether anyone is proofing or checking over Jack’s recipes, the ‘serves zero’ tells you all you need to know.

This eating leftover food trend makes me feel a bit wobbly. We made more potatoes and cabbage on a Sunday deliberately so that we could have a fry up on Monday. Mam did the washing on a Monday and it was an easy meal when she was busy. It didn’t cost a lot in fuel and fed us all with a loaf of bread. I don’t understand this kind of trend for pretending to be poor. We were poor and it was wretched. I can’t understand it all.

I hate it when she says “loosen” the cheese mix will loosen on the potatoes 🤢 surely that’s melting
FYI I don’t want to do a chaos so I shan’t be starting a thread, me and Caroline’s Russell are not on furlough or at work....

I will confess that my children ate blue cheese earlier than most because they're essentially fridge goblins who have eaten me out of house and home since birth.

But even my fridge goblins wouldn't eat veg peeling falafels.

It’s all the scoffing and gobbling out of pans that gets me. I mean who would eat the strange alien kind of thing that is dry but looks slimy nobody could . Chock cold everything. Mucky looking teaspoons in grubby tiny little dishes. I can’t stand it. I need a rest.
