Omg where in Spain are you?? I’m here too and was planning to write the same thing hahaha, to have your visa rejected, you need to have done/understood something wrong during the application process. I mean it’s very confusing at first, but if you take your time to learn what documents are needed and exactly how the process works, it really isn’t too hard. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I don’t know how the French visa process works but I can’t imagine it’s entirely different to the Spanish one. I’ve seen multiple influencers recently claim they’ve “moved to *insert very typical European city*” and think to myself “yeah okay… “moved.” Are you a registered resident? Or are you basically on an extended holiday?” It’s frustrating for people like me and yourself who have ACTUALLY moved abroad and are living a normal life like a real resident. Tbh Jack didn’t annoy me as much as others, at least he was going to French classes and trying to learn French, he didn’t seem to be eating out for every meal like others do, he was living a fairly normal life. But overall wish they’d all stop glamourising the whole “moving abroad” thing when they’re not even doing it 100%…
Yeah if they were doing it properly we'd probably see them incredibly stressed out. I'm here working as an English Language Assistant (british council) working just outside Malaga (I won't give my exact location but if you've ever heard of the hike caminito del rey I'm very near there I'm planning to do it with my best friend of 8 years when she comes to visit in March) so my visa process was a little different because as its my year abroad for university I'm here as a student under the extending studies category and have a six month TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad para los Extranjeros) aka a permiso de residencia. I struggled a ton at first especially as the accent is ridiculously strong but I'm lucky to be in an area where everyone is very friendly and open and man there's a ton of brits and I eventually kind of got into my stride and now I feel like I've been here forever And yes agreed the whole moving countries and trying to get visa process is wayyy more stressful than influencers make it out to be and the paperwork feels endless I'm 22 now (21 during all of the visa process) and well I remember thinking I wasn't old enough or adult enough to do it yet

I'm not sure if we applied for the same visa type (mine was a student one) but I do remember that there were two boxes on the form and you had to tick either single or multi (strongly recommend multi as you never know you may have to return unexpectedly)
Hey can I PM you about this please! I would be so so grateful xx

Is having an eating disorder something to criticise someone for?

In answer to your question, reading is a wonderful thing and there are plenty of posts for you to enjoy on why people have complaints about him. Have fun catching up :)
having an ed and then glorifying it to your young and stupid followers is
but if you have an ed and then try to get better, no

I would choose to explain my reasons but I don't want to enter intro a conversation with someone who criticises and shames people who have eating disorders. Read the thread and go back to fangirling over Jack.
no fangirling, jack is just not that bad

Is Jack still maintaining that he has a girlfriend? She doesn’t seem to factor anywhere in his plans or lifestyle.

Long time lurker here! Not to be that person, but his stationary announcement was on his main channel (I added a screenshot, it's the video on the far right).

I also checked this because I was surprised because his humour is usually very self-deprecating so this seemed out of character? His bios say 'youtube's resident librarian' not leading which makes more sense! I didn't know you can do a librarianship degree though that's so cool! I don't think Jack working at the Durham Library is quite the same haha.

Wanted to post because I was wondering if he's still together with his girlfriend? I assumed they'd broken up but then I saw that he's in her most recent Instagram photo and standing next to her. He hasn't shared anything of her in a while since that video they did together (unless I'm wrong)? Do we know if she lives near him?

Sorry if I come across as a stalker, I'm just very bored in isolation!
I'm not sure where she's living now, but if she's moved back home (we went to sixth form together), then they'll be a good 3-4hour drive away from each other. I don't think they've split up though

I didn't really bother if he is still in a relationship or not. Because I thought maybe his GF is a private person and does not wanna be in front of a camera. I know I wouldn't and if my partner has a YouTube, I'd support them but be on-screen as little as possible.

What struck me the most is the recent video where he exchanged screentime for books and at the end said that he spent an average of 52 minutes daily on phone for work-related stuff on Slack and WhatsApp. I was like, "Dude, don't you and your GF talk on phone since you guys don't live together?" 52 minutes do not seem to suffice both work and personal stuff together TBH.

Or am I the odd duck here, who video-calls their partner every single day and spends more than an hour talking to them?
They might video call on their laptops rather than phones? If he showed his phone screen time that is

So, just watching his video with Lena Norms. Does anyone else think he sounds very different on her video that in his own? Like his voice is higher pitched?

Come on, Paris is not that dirty, especially compared to Rome for instance, which is imo the dirtiest city I've been too (still gorgeous tho). I guess I'm probably biased cause I'm French and used to live there. Tbh I still regret leaving Paris, it truly is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and dare I say, the world. It's one of the smallest capitals in Europe its very manageable and has great transportation too. Also being able to go to London so quickly via the Eurostar was so convenient. Pity it is so expensive..
I haven't visited a huge amount of European cities but Paris honestly surprised me with how dirty it was compared to others.

Madrid was so clean it was genuinely like being in a utopia
Milan less so but still felt very clean
Paris I just remember walking down streets filled with litter
London used to feel probably on Paris's level in the 90s but it has gotten its act together in the last decade and feels much nicer now
Still was a great holiday and very fun though

His Twitter account is not available anymore. Anybody knows the reason?

When it comes to books... I will choose Jack over Ruby. At least that guy actually reads rather than focusing on the aesthetics of his bookshelves (yes Ruby, I am looking at you)
Oh yeah, his account no longer exists. Weirdly when I Google it, it comes up with a Bulgarian 'This account does not exist' message instead of English (I'm UK-based, so no idea why that could be happening).

He either deleted it himself (which I doubt tbh), or he got hacked.

Edit: I don't know how long it's been gone for, but I don't think he's addressed it on IG.

Honestly same. A lot of people get remote jobs and become digital nomads nowadays and although that's a very privileged way of life, it's not that unusual (especially for youtubers bc their job is already remote). Youtube is obviously going pretty well for him and if he's still got the Ali Abdaal job too he can certainly afford Paris and has no reason (work-wise at least) to be in the UK, so why not. The issue isn't with that per se (imo), it's that it seems like he doesn't know what to do with his content and he's relatively intransparent re: work and studying which doesn't work for a former studytuber imo. Also being a full-time yter always make for boring vlog content so he can't exactly do that either (or like... admit that he secretely wants to do that if he does, idk but kinda seems like it rn))
Yeah it would be really interesting if he made a video sort of breaking down his goals/plans moving forward. For his content & his career (even if they're one and the same!).

Interesting! We were talking about it in the wake of his announcement that the stationary is getting stocked in Waterstones appearing on the book account. Which is made odder by the initial announcement being on the main account. Why not have the Waterstones one on the main too?

Can we not assume someone’s sexuality? From what I saw, Jack never claimed to be straight and bi/pan people exist :) And even if he said it and it’s not the case, he might not have figured it out yet at the time or felt comfortable to publicly come out.
I’m ok assuming someone’s sexuality until they confirm it thanks xoxox
