Lots of this movement has come from lesbian left wing women. The academics I mentioned previously tend to fit into this category. Equally there is a black lesbian barrister, Allison Bailey, who has been treated horrifically by her chambers and others for starting a "LGB Alliance" because she shares the concerns of the lesbian poster above. The idea that a lesbian who does not find transwomen attractive is transphobic is straight up gay erasure. It baffles me that so many gay and lesbian people seem to think they must advocate for the transgender ideology because of the LGBT 'alliance' when this movement is trying to force you out of existence.
It's interesting what somebody posted previously about Marxism because it also seems like this issue is something that has really split the left. The progressive woke beardy types are always left wing, but there are also many many gender critical left wing people also. Saying that, aside from self ID being a Tory idea originally, it doesn't seem that there is much support for this from the right either. I have seen plenty of usually lefty people on Twitter showing gratitude to Liz Truss over her halting of the GRA reform. Given that Lib Dems are a lost cause on this and it's yet to be seen what Starmer's policies on it will be it may well be the case that the Tories are now the only hope we have in stopping all this. Despite not wanting to vote for them either, I'm really not sure I could bring myself to vote for a party who sets this GRA reform back on its tracks if I'm honest. So who would we have left to vote for? Greens are similar to Lib Dem on this policy. Would be interested in others' thoughts on this.
