But that's exactly what you want, because in your mind, trans women are men.

Anyway, I'll be honest, I'm scared of so much hatred (masked as fear and concern) from typical Karens who think they're fighting a feminist fight. I fully disagree with all of you and will now, genuinely, leave you to celebrate yourself and Rowling. Carry on.
What about women's refuges and grape crisis centres? Why can there not be separate spaces for transwomen in order to ensure that women who have been grape still access services that they may not access if a man is in there? If transwomen are allowed to change their sex on their birth certificates, all sex based protection is gone. Women cannot say they dont want to share a space with any biological male because they have experienced trauma because that person can say they are female, despite having a pen. If a man puts on a dress, their physical strength and ability to overcome the average woman does not disappear. It's still there. The Trans rights arguments never address women's concerns. Violence against women and trans women is overwhelmingly committed by men. Yet male violence against trans people is never addressed. All the abuse, death threats and grape threats are aimed at women.

When you use terms like “Karen”, you’re not really helping matters are you?

To use the old adage; It’s not an airport, you don’t have to announce your departure.

ETA - Women wanting to defend and preserve the rights that were hard fought for them by those who came before them is not a hate crime. Being branded a “Karen” for it is both childish and wrong. It seems that most people who disagree with our stance can’t even answer the questions posed to them here or are reduced to petty mud-slinging.

Neither side is going to budge so a compromise like male, female and unisex would be a good start. But there are plenty that are hell bent on getting into the women’s loos...
I have seen an awful lot of places recently where there have been unisex toilets and mens toilets. So even though women have fewer toilets than men, theirs are the ones that are being taken away. There are trans men but they dont count apparently. I bet gay men arent being called transphobic for not wanting to sleep with them either.

I think the point about a predatory male will attack anyway is a bit of a strawman. The issue with proposed self ID is that it will make it easier for predatory males to attack, and they’ll have a built-in get out clause if, for example, they’re caught in the women’s loos. In my mind, a similar analogy would be hens kept safely within a hen house, surrounded by wire - a particularly aggressive fox may try to get into the hen house anyway, and may succeed, but does that mean we’d remove the wire as it doesn’t always work?
It is a strawman and it comes up again and again.

Also, with some trans people it would really be hard to tell they are trans, like if I saw Blair White in the toilet I don't think I'd realise they're trans but with others it's more visible, would one be less welcome than the other?
Again, this idea that we’re going to have to enforce “genital checks” in order to admit people to the correct bathroom is a strawman. It assumes that it isn’t possible to tell someone’s sex without it. People like Blaire White are outliers because Blaire has had a ton of facial feminisation surgery (still has 🍆 though). I don’t believe Blaire’s voice sounds female either.

For the 99.9% of trans women who are unable to change their features in that way, there’s no ambiguity and certainly no need for genital checks.

US author steps back from ‘cancel culture’ letter due to Rowling involvement
Author Jenny Boylan has distanced herself from an open letter against ‘cancel culture’ after discovering that another writer – believed to be JK Rowling - was a co-signatory.

Boylan, who transitioned in 2000, wrote: “I did not know who else had signed that letter. I thought I was endorsing a well meaning, if vague, message against internet shaming.

“I did know Chomsky, Steinem, and Atwood were in, and I thought, good company. The consequences are mine to bear. I am so sorry.”

Rowling hit back with a tweet referencing Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible, which is about witch hunts in both the 17th century and the times of American politician Joseph McCarthy’s hunt for suppoprters of the Communist Party in the US in the 1950s.

She wrote: “You’re still following me, Jennifer. Be sure to publicly repent of your association with Goody Rowling before unfollowing and volunteer to operate the ducking stool next time, as penance.”

Imagine denouncing cancel culture, then taking it back because someone you want cancelled has done the same *shrug*

That is too funny! Signs a petition on free speech and then withdraws because she doesn't like one of the names on the list

Transgender Trend have started a campaign to coincide with Jo's birthday on 31st July, asking supporters to print or email a letter they have composed and send to the BBC, Guardian & New York Times.

"
It is our hope that together we can help to usher in a new beginning where we can have important conversations that until now have been substantially ignored by the liberal mainstream media. Given our mutual desire to support gender non-conforming individuals, we believe that it is vitally important for leading media to cover these crucial and under-reported stories.

  • The extraordinary growth in the number of adolescents with gender dysphoria
  • The link between increasingly rigid gendered expectations and gender dysphoria in childhood
  • The social pressures on lesbian, gay and bisexual youth to conform to sex role stereotypes and/or change their bodies
  • The complex issues facing the growing number of detransitioners
  • The potential impact the enshrinement of gender identity has upon sex-based rights, single-sex spaces, and sports for women and girls
"

JK retweeted this earlier. I've never heard of this lady but I love her already

For any woman who has ever used the word "Karen", please have a look at this
It’s grotesque. Like “boomer remover” being used for Covid-19. Bit of a Peter Pan syndrome going on, and the fall from Neverland will be swift and hard.

Hang on though, why is middle aged woman (which is exactly what these people are) a term of abuse but “trans woman” as we discussed earlier isn’t?
I understand the sentiment of it being “you’re “just a middle aged woman, pipe down” butI do think we should either be OK for everyone to be addressed as they are or no one.
As said earlier I disagree with throwing the terms Karen and Gammon around but I’m confused as to why “middle aged woman” is abusive.

I think you're being a bit obtuse here. The tweet is in reference to the pipe down, Karen kind of mentality

Because the implication is that age makes the person making the argument invalid.

Age is irrelevant, so no need to use it unless to denigrate.

Also can you clarify what you mean by “these people?” What people?

Sorry I meant the people getting called middle aged women, are middle aged women.
And yes I agree that age is irrelevant but if a factual analysis is irrelevant why is “middle aged woman” irrelevant but “trans woman” isn’t. There just seems to be a bit of...not hypocrisy but maybe a bit of a double standard in terminology?

I’m not quite sure what point you’re trying to make. I keep re reading your posts but I’m not quite getting it. Are you saying that referring to a trans woman as a trans woman is abuse? And we should be just referring to them as women?

In which case, I’ll just identify myself out of middle age and I’m now 25.

Because “middle aged” is designed to denigrate in the context. And is in that context misogynistic but that seems acceptable unless a woman falls in with prescribed appearance and beliefs these days.
