I would instruct my lawyers to take the sites down for breaching copyright but of course it would just be spun as “mean JK Rowling targets innocent fans” but you know what? At this point I think she should say “duck it” and do it anyway. I would. There are still official sites for the fans to visit and if former fans can’t bear to go on the official sites then they can STFU and go find a new hobby or fandom to join.
I would LOVE her to do this 😁 Most people outside of the Twitterati support her. You can see from.the government consultation, where they had to discount massive amounts of spamming from trans groups yet still came up with a 70/30 majority against allowing self ID.

I don’t think she should, it would be satisfying but terrible, terrible PR. She would be portrayed as spitefully sticking her middle finger up to her fans.

It would be better to remind the public that she happily allows these backstabbers to profit off of her copyright, and that she would appreciate it if they didn’t ostracise, erase, and lie about her to manufacture outrage.

It’s ironic that JKR’s ended her essay with something like “all I ask - all I want - is for women with concerns to be treated with empathy”.

The genderist response has been a big NO.

Actually yes that would be a far better response. She would do well to remind not only the Harry Potter kids but all these crappy websites that they do not own Harry Potter. She does. All they have done is profit off her back. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson would never have made it as actors without her. They are mediocre at best. As for Harry Potter fans. Grow up. My 9 year old reads those books.

Someone further up the thread suggested emailing support to JK and I have today. I've been thinking about this a lot recently. The abuse she has been getting is awful. I think she's seen as a big scalp to the activists. She's also someone who has reach outside of the twittersphere. Let's face it most regular people have no idea about the gender debate but they do know who JK Rowling is. I agree with her essay and think she was brave to publish it. The Potter kids have been spineless in their responses and I really feel for her having them turn against her when she supported and built them up. It's such a sorry affair and quite surreal. I imagine in the future people will look back and think "did people really threaten the worlds most famous author with grape and death for saying female people are called women?"

Do it! I did it last weekend and got a nice email back from her offices thanking me for supporting her. With the amount she gets I doubt she personally saw it but I felt acknowledged and knew that at least it had been read and noted down as more confirmed support for her. Others posted their responses too and they were all different in their wording so it wasn’t a case of a stock template generic email being sent out either

EDIT: Sorry, I missed the part where you said you just had 😁

I was trawling through twitter and I found this

‘Not all trans people’ but holy hell, one creep is too many. I expect my daughters to be able to try clothes on or get changed in a changing room without being filmed by some creep who shouldn’t be there in the first place. I don’t give a flying duck if not all of them are bleeping weirdos, but enough are to make me incredibly defensive and protective especially over my daughters. duck this bleeping tit. My daughters safety, and everyone else’s daughters safety, is not bleeping collateral for these mentally ill men. Trans people who aren’t deranged need to start speaking up and ostracising these people in a big way, because they are taking over the narrative and that will hurt genuine trans people in the long run. Not just sit there and let it all happen because it still benefits them in some way in the now.

Women’s spaces exist for a bleeping reason. Seems like many people supporting this nonsense have forgotten that.

I saw this from prize twit Jameela Jamil.

Really, Jameela? You yourself have not been supportive of JK Rowling and have just kept bleating trans women are women
She is literally the most annoying person. It’s almost like she’s starting to see the trans agenda for what it really is but is to scared to come out with that fact because she knows she’ll get lynched by the trans twitter mob. So she sits on the fence (for once) and goes with the whole “the nArRaTiVe on BoTh SiDeS iS wRoNg” nonsense.

She takes the biscuit, she really does.

By saying "not all [men/trans people/white people/whatever it is] they're effectively saying "Only some trans people [etc.]" How many is enough and how many is too many? Three? Three thousand? Fifteen per large city but only three per medium-sized town?

It's utterly nonsensical.

I feel sad and shocked at the fan accounts basically deciding JKR doesn't exist to them anymore and won't mention her or report on her activities, yet they fail to see they are profiting and using characters and work SHE created!!!!! It's awful and outrageous and I wish JKR could do something but as has been said, it would just go against her yet again!

The funny thing is the fans will still probably buy the merch and see the films. It’s a bit hard to be a fan of something without doing things like that especially with the way youngsters like to express themselves. They’ll still be putting money in JKR’s pocket in some way whether that be in the form of a pair of socks from primark or a cinema ticket. So who’s really profiting here? They are fools.

Yeah and probably too stupid or short sighted to see that! You can't have Harry Potter without JKR really.

She’s a twit. I don’t have time for attention seekers like her.

I too emailed JK Rowling and received a nice reply from her office. She needs people to do this. We need to do this. Our voices need to be carried. This is just one more issue, to be thrown on top of the pile that we already need to shout about. I will not fit the narrative of these people, I will not shut my mouth to be seen as ‘inclusive’ I will not be quiet or watch my words so as not to offend. I do not need to be so. I will not sit by and be labelled ‘cis’, I never agreed to be called that and I never will. I do not have to ‘accept’, ‘include’, ‘be diverse’, ‘support’ anything if I don’t chose to - my/our female ancestors fought for us to have our voices heard and I will make bleeping sure mine is. Debate, argue, shout and offend to get our voices heard - it’s our duty. We owe it to our daughters.

I too have e-mailed support directly. I can’t stay quiet when I see men spam her with porn in a children’s art competition, and I swear I’m going to have kittens the next time I see someone screaming ”suck my ladydique, terf!”

It’s like being in the upside down right now, where I am having to explain to supposedly intelligent people exactly why women’s spaces and sex-based rights exist, and it isn’t to preserve our delicate lady feelings.

I can almost forgive the impressionable teenagers. They’ve been brought up on this crap and teens aren’t known to be the most logical and sensible of beings. But when you have SCIENTISTS and DOCTORS spout this stuff in all seriousness and going along with it in agreement... I just have to shake my head in bewilderment. WHAT IS GOING ON?
