That has nothing to do with transgender rights? also that happens regardless of gender and sexuality.
with respect, I think you have missed the point here.

The majority of transgender women retain their male genitalia. So, the point is, people with penises will be using female spaces - not just toilets (which aren’t really the issue) but open changing rooms, women’s only wards in hospitals, women’s prisons, domestic abuse shelters etc. The fact is that there will be vulnerable women, victims of rape and abuse, who will have significant trauma, and should not be forced to share these spaces with people with penises, just because those people feel like women.

It’s a further problem when you realise that most transgender ideology and charities now believe that transgender does not mean you have gender dysphoria or even have to attempt to present as the opposite sex. If you say you are, you are. So a bearded, male-looking person can say he’s a woman and that’s that. Isn’t that troubling?

Then we get to the fact that self ID laws and this idea of “everyone is what they say they are” can be exploited by male predators. It is being exploited already, there are numerous examples of this. This is without getting into the fact that some transwomen (emphasis on some) are predators themselves. Plenty of examples out there.

Brave to be transphobic? That's a hot take. Sex and gender are not the same. She used the terms 'women' and 'trans people' to say trans women can be vulnerable in 'the same way' as women. Not that they *are* women. Which they indeed are. Erasing their years of struggle to be recognised for who they are. They are not mutually exclusive terms. Brave? No. Ignorant? Very.

It's also things like going into a gynae exam or any medical where we can ask for a female doctor. If that female doctor comes in with a full beard, we cant say anything to object. Or turning up to report a rape, and a male bodied police officer comes in. Or going into a rape crisis centre and having to share a space with a male bodied person. Or being a teenage girl having to change in front of a naked girl who happens to have a penis and balls. Or going on scouts camp and sharing a tent with a 14 year old girl with a penis and balls. Or never ever having a chance to win a gold medal in your chosen sport because a person whose physical body has been enhanced by huge amounts of testosterone has decided they want to compete against you.Or for example an adult who has been a woman for about a year getting the job of women's officer in the Labour Party over women who have been women their whole lives.

Thought I'd take the opportunity and throw in the friendly reminder that this isn't the first time Daniel Radcliffe decided to be "woke" and speak up about something he clearly doesn't know anything about. He also spoke against JK Rowlings decision to keep Johnny Depp on the Fantastic Beasts franchise back in 2017 despite the (false) allegations being thrown at him at the time.

JK Rowling, being a former victim of domestic abuse herself, had spoken to Johnny, she had seen the evidence, his witnesslist, the recordings, everything that now the rest of the world also has seen, and made the wise decision to keep him on because she knew he was the real victim in that relationship.

Daniel however, not being in the franchise, not having spoken to Johnny, not being educated on domestic abuse and not knowing anything of what went on in that relationship, still took upon himself to throw in a shady comment on the issue saying it was outrageous that Johnny was kept on the franchise considering that an actor on Harry Potter were kicked out when being arrested for drug dealing. You'd think he'd found the clue in the word "arrested". Something Johnny never was. Because there was no evidence. But hey, why be picky about words when you can be woke?

For the second time Daniel, take a seat.

I'm not saying she shouldn't have free speech and talk about issues that are important to her but these people all seem like brands so from that pov it's just puzzling that's all.
I get where you’re coming from. I guess JK cares more about the safety of women and girls than her brand.

Which I find admirable at a time when people, particularly famous people will say what ever is right and ‘pc’ at the time to make themselves look good even if it’s not what they truly believe. Good for her for being true and honest in a world full of fakes.

Horrible author who in many ways ruined children’s fiction for generations to come with her pointless and derivative overblown writing. Plus it’s mega weird she married a bloke who looks like Harry Potter
Oh come on give credit where credit is due, even if you don’t agree with her opinions now. Her writing is incredible and inspired a whole generation of new readers. I remember queuing up for every new Harry Potter, I didn’t do that with any other author growing up! The books were and still are brilliant reads.

Whatever the arguments for or against whatever it is JK Rowling has been tweeting about, you have to wonder why she feels the need to waste her time posting on Twitter. If had her wealth and luxurious lifestyle I"d be out there having fun in the real world, having lavish holidays, going out for expensive meals and generally living the high life.

You have to wonder why her life's seemingly so empty that she's wasting it arguing with dysfunctional idiots on social media.
I think JK is an intelligent, eloquent woman. She has a vested interested in women’s rights not only by virtue of being born female, but also due to the fact she has had her rights abused by someone of the opposite gender/opposite sex.

She has every right to an opinion. Women have been discouraged for far too long to speak up. If anything it’s commendable - she has put her head above the parapet over something she feels strongly about. She doesn’t need to, she could retire from life and live out her days as a celebrated author. But she has chosen to open flood gates of abuse because she feels strongly about this topic.

this should be Commended, in my opinion. It can’t be easy - I’ve read some of the tweets.

It's disgraceful and grossly misogynistic. I said this way earlier in the thread. Roman Polanski is a RAPIST and no one's out there claiming Mia Farrow or some random woman directed Rosemary's Baby! Same with Woody Allen and countless others

I'm a new member and opened this thread with trepidation. What I've read here has been a breath of fresh air, and I'm so glad to see so many women who are speaking up to protect our sex based rights.

I have always been very pro-trans, but I can no longer idly stand by while our rights and legal protections are trampled over by the TRA lobby. Also the threats of violence every time anyone speaks out are indicative of what these extremists are truly like. Just look at the website terfisaslur.com to see examples of what I mean.

I'm a lesbian and very much not attracted to penises or males. That's just the way I'm wired and I won't be shouted down as a TERF or a transphobe because my dating pool doesn't include trans women. I am so fearful for younger lesbians who are trying to come to terms with who they are, having TWAW pushed down their throats and not feeling strong enough to push back.

The TRA brigade are terrifying.

One thing I keep waiting to be answered: what does it mean for medical research and treatment if the extreme TRA views are pandered to? How do we properly research diseases/illnesses which are, or may be, affected by biological sex? Is this something we’re just supposed to ignore? I’ve never quite grasped this.

I apologise if this has already been addressed - I have lurked for the majority of this thread.

Anyway, as ever, this thread is the only thing that reminds me I’m sane and that those shouting the loudest aren’t always the majority.
I could speak for hours about this. In brief - it is a big problem for research and treatment. First, many life-threatening conditions present differently in women and it's commonly the male symptoms that are reported and raised awareness. Heart attack, for one. Many cancers, also. I'm not sure if trans people realise that being dogmatically insistent there is no record anywhere of their biological sex means these conditions could easily be missed. Second, this impacts research as if there is no record in healthcare of someone's biological sex and they choose to participate in a research study, they are going to bias the results. For example, consider a study looking at female presentation of lung cancer - if a trans woman enters, her symptoms would be different, which is going to muddy the results. Finally, women's health is already chronically underfunded. It's not considered to be a sexy area of research and women's health is not taken seriously in healthcare (I say this as someone who works in healthcare). The basics of women's health are not done well or properly. It takes on average 7 years to be diagnosed with endometriosis, we don't know much about PMDD at all, PCOS is still too difficult to obtain a diagnosis for despite an easy diagnostic procedure, ovarian cancer is underdiagnosed despite being very treatable. Yet increasingly I see funding grants awarded for things like artificial wombs, with a tokenistic nod given to the infertile women and homosexual couples this technology could help but much of the work focusing more on giving trans people the 'right' to have children. In my view scarce research funds should not be focusing on new technology to help trans women with such things when the very basics of women's health - I'm talking here, stuff that would literally keep us alive - are so underfunded and ignored. And of course, we are all expected to ignore all of this in the spirit of trans rights.

Women who don’t have periods includes the vast majority of women at some point in their lives, including pregnancy, medical issues, hormonal contraceptives, and menopause. Biological women have never, ever caused a fuss about saying not all women have periods. It’s common sense and shows transwomens’ unreasonable sensitivity about the issue.

The trans sense of entitlement really reminds me of er...male entitlement actually. Entitled to women’s spaces and women’s bodies.

Fuck off with that shit.
Spot on, you hit the nail on the head. You never see this aggression and entitlement from FTMs, only MTFs.

Fuck you Daniel Radcliffe. How dare you speak over and speak for a woman like that, especially the woman who made you everything you are.
Notice how he said 'trans women are women' but not 'trans men are men.' It's always, always about men.
Men's "needs" and feelings will always come before women's.

Also late to the debate but as somebody else mentioned I don't really understand why she got so much hate. I really think the left has completely lost the plot (no, I'm not right. My politics is very middle of the road)

I have no issues with transpeople or whatever any human being out there want to identify as. BUT, yes there is a but. I am wholeheartedly behind JK in this. I am also not comfortable with a transwomen in certain sensitive spaces if they stil have male genitalia. I'm not even always comfortable sharing those spaces with other women, never mind somebody who still has these bits.

Now I understand the vast majority will be genuine transwomen with absolutely NO interest in me and my saggy bits but how do I know who i genuine and who is not. All this gender politics just means that there is no safe spaces for women or girls. We're being seen as transphobic when we question them in our private spaces or on the sports fields.

This is such a difficult subject because I feel sorry for them being excluded sometimes but then on the other hand why should I feel unsafe so they can feel safe. I just don't know the answer to all these modern (and very much first world) problems.

It might be a case where there will be inidividual toilets and changing areas instead of shares spaces.

There’s always something ‘going on’ in the world when it comes to women wanting to talk about women’s issues - and trust me women have been trying to talk about this for years now. Nothing she has said is hateful and comparing her to Katie Hopkins the professional troll is completely laughable.

I also don't see how it came out of nowhere. A few months ago she spoke up for Maya Forstater, who got fired from her job for saying biological sex is real. JK used her powerful voice to stand up for this woman, and that is when the torrent of abuse started from trans activists. According to her essay, she said she went off Twitter for a while as it was affecting her mental health. She only came back on because she was doing something with kids submitting drawings, which I've been seeing come up on my feed for a while now. Then she saw the article about "people who menstruate" and she felt she had to speak out against it.

what i'm wondering though is why she posted her tweets, someone like her would have a pr agent that would monitor and control their social media prescence, so knowing how controversial her tweets might seem it's puzzling they were allowed to be posted.
Perhaps she’s a grown woman who controls her own Twitter account and felt like talking about an issue that is important to her and women everywhere.

I take issue with the media and the trans push saying trans women are the most vulnerable and such victims of violence. Yes they have a crappy time but this isn't men on women violence it is men on men violence.

Yet again women are forgotten about.

Amnesty international can fuck right off. They have constant campaigns regarding trans women not going to all female prisons. So biological men should be allowed in female prisons where the majority of inmates are the victim of abuse and sexual assault by men and their penises!!!
Just fuck off
Women are being silenced yet again.
The problem is lots of men won't help the fight until sadly it effects their daughters or wives.
Even women have called me transphobic and put men's rights before women's rights.
It's retrograde
