French criminal Henri Charrière's nickname was Papillion (butterfly), right, he wrote the book Papillion about his incarceration. He was convicted of murdering a pimp (sex ring?) and sent to French Guiana for hard labour. He ended up escaping and living with an indigenous tribe.

He was caught and put in solitary, then he escaped again (by tying a bag of coconuts together as a raft - lol) but he always denied the original crime.

MY THEORY
What if its that strike and robin are contacted by a convicted criminal (the butterfly View attachment 3829174 in this story) - who is convicted of being involved in the murder of a sex ring View attachment 3829176 member, who is dying and wants their name cleared before they die View attachment 3829178

There has been a long-standing theory that Shanker is actually a police-informant and ever since the Riccis were mentioned again in THM there are more theories that Shanker needs help from the agency in order to get that potential 36 months sentence off his back and that handing over evidence about the Riccis might just be what the police wants. Not sure if the butterfly would fit that theory, but any of the Riccis would fit as convicted con and I bet you they are involved with trafficking and illegal prostitution.

Incidentally JKR’s emojis for minimally TRG and THM also featured “death emojis”, the coffin might not be too literal. We got a skull for THM a d a gravestone for TRG.Yes, people died in those books, but none I’d say of the non-case deaths would have warranted a special emoji.

Just listened to the new all cast version of Chamber of Secrets. Oh my Madam Pomphrey is clearly not a females actress. Weirdly I couldn’t notice it in the Philosophers Stone but it sticks out a mile in the new one.

Somethings been bothering me but I haven’t bothered to go back and double check. In The Hallmarked Man, I’m pretty sure that Strike says Rokeby agreed to pay maintenance following a dna test proving paternity. But Strike would have been about 8 or so when this happened, and having been born in 73 (or 74? can’t remember), he’d have been some years too early for commercial paternity testing, which wasn’t a thing before the late eighties. He’d have been mid/late teens before that was available.

I am enjoying the second full audio HP more than the first, but haven’t got to bass register Madame Pomfrey yet!

There’s definitely been some discussion around this and apparently there was some degree of rudimentary paternity testing at that time, but it certainly wasn’t in the same league as modern day DNA tests.

My guess is that it was something JKR didn’t spend too much time researching as it wasn’t relevant to the plot. I think we’re just supposed to accept that there is no doubt around Strike’s parentage, and Rokeby was an hole who came good in the end.

I really hope we see more of him and Cormoran developing a relationship in the next book, because his chapter is one of my favourites in the entire series.
