I work in a hotel and am shocked at the amount of people who have phoned today to check are we still open and if the bar and restaurant is still going to be in use. We are located in the west and these are people from all over the country, some from counties that have been locked down before last night! We have even had bookings come in today for the weekends ahead. bleeping boils my blood to be honest.

I just cant understand how people are blatantly ignoring the rules. Suck it up for three bleeping weeks and stay at home!! A huge kick in the face to all the essential workers that worked to the bone over the first lockdown!

Sorry for the rant but am I delusional here or is this just wrong?!!

I heard of hotels rebooking people from Dublin stays when it went to level 3, I think the responsibility lies mainly with the general public but maybe hotels Etc should see if they can get out of county stays rebooked. I don't know how realistic that is and again everybody needs to take personal responsibility and not be depending in the government etc to have garda checkpoints up or garda breaking up house parties.

I see level 3 just prolonging things and we will be on lockdown in November!

unfortunately we cannot refuse any one as its not the law that you must stay with in your county, correct me if I'm wrong on that! But we shouldnt have to even speak with these people, they should have the general cop on to not be looking to come and stay! Looking for opinions please

A group of friends living in dublin are looking to book a night away. They are looking at hotels in dublin so as not to break the rules by leaving the county. There would 10 people, so 5 couples. So 5 separate households.

Is being good for the economy enough?
Do hotels want these bookings?

Max 6 per table so they'd need 2 tables, the chances of social distancing is next to impossible I think. You can be sure they'll all and up in one room having drinks after the hotel bar/restuarant closes.

Im not going, I've already said no, just wondering what people's take on this is?

If it were 1 couple who already live together booking a night away with in their own county any different?

There are only 9 grounds under which you can't refuse a booking. You (or management as it were) can refuse a booking for any reason at all outside of this so they would be within their rights to do so.

I think it's pretty obvious throughout the pandemic that there are quite a lot of individuals and businesses who can't be trusted to do the right thing.

Did hotels last time not put it up no guest would be allowed from those counties and many stood their ground and refused access

Surely if you rock up to a hotel in Galway from Dublin or one in Cork from Kerry you should be turned away at the door ... And better still no refund as you didn’t cancel it yourself ....

lots of hotels seems to be proactive putting up county deals tonight on social media ... but oddly not saying if you come from another county we don’t want you right now

Look I get that hotels are in a tough spot and all the economy arguments but could people not just for the next month encourage the bloody rules. I don’t think people should even be going on staycations in their county. I swear I have never seen so many people going away on weekend trips the last few months compared to pre-Covid. Again it’s an example of we aren’t really supposed to do it but we are going to do it anyways. And as much as everyone ‘hates‘ the government they use the have been using the excuse od well the government said ‘I could’. It’s infuriating. I’d much rather sacrifice a low key life for the next few weeks to have a chance of a better Christmas. I fear that these new restrictions will do nothing and this is now just prolonging a lockdown either for November or else they will wait until right after Christmas when the numbers go wild because so many people are visiting families over the Christmas holidays ‘because the government said I could’. For God sake why can’t the world just wake up!!

Its mad that there hasn't been more supports for businesses to adapt - like outdoor heaters, awnings and screens etc. businesses have forked out so much for the basics.

Not facilitating more of this and having the attitude that we must stay home is starting to backfire and I can see a tipping point. Even though I'm happy to stay in, a lot of people are still house hopping.

They were talk about curtailing off licence hours to prevent house parties, why can't they support less risky things to do to help people stay safe. Its sad to watch but it feels like more and more people are caring less.

I know we need the right to protest, you can't be taking that away from people. But come on. Boiled my blood last week that they had the bleeping neck to do a sit down on grafton street. Effecting all of the businesses there and putting so many at risk.
Such a pointless exercise as well. They would get the same point across doing a responsible protest.

Have to say though I think whatever they are doing is working somewhat. I see more and more people joining their camp every week.

From the point of view of the hotel I work in we would have no problem with a booking of that sort? Wouldn't matter if they were from 10 different households as every couple/guest staying in the hotel is from somewhere different! From my experience if you are under the group limit (government recommendation)it doesn't bother hotel if you do not socially distance yourselves from one another as ye are the one group, as long as you keep distance from the other guests.

We ask all guests to practice Social distancing in public areas of the hotel , so if they ended up all in the room at night time so be it. its no different to a couple going on their own, based on the idea that they wouldn't be roudy and drunk half the time as these kid of people are very hard to control in these times

If weddings of 25 people can go ahead, no reason a group of 10 cant go on a break together. Hope this helps!

I think they legitimately believe that the case numbers are faked,deaths are marked as vivid and they are,the government are doing the lockdown etc to control us so they believe they are protesting the government's control over us.
