Intermittent Fasting

When I was on IF I usually did 16/8 or 18/6, usually it would end up as 17/7. I didn't count drinks outside my window. I plan to start again next week as I found it hugely helpful for staying on top of my snacking.

I’ve been doing for a few days. What I’ve found is it makes me rethink my late night snacking as I know I’ll have to wait longer to eat properly the next day. My next step is to now watch the calories. Been waiting for Christmas and NY to pass.

I do 10-6 and it works really well. I exercise either before or after my food window and sleep so much better too. I find I’m generally a lot less bothered about food and often can’t even decide what I actually want to eat. There are the odd days when I could eat my own arm but I’m pretty certain that’s linked to my hormones and I let myself have what I want. Definitely recommend.

Hi all, resurrecting this thread for some advice. I want to try IF for health reasons rather than weight loss. I read that you can have coffee and water while fasting, what are the rules around having a sugar in your coffee?! I don't want to go down the sweetener route but is having a sugar in my coffee going to ruin the effects of the fast?

Hey! I do IF 23/1

Sugar will break your fast unfortunately ☹.
I know it's not the same but I eventually got used to having my coffee black after about a week

How about skinny syrup? 0 calories? I can't drink black coffee without it.

Artificial sweeteners are a grey area. Technically you aren't breaking your fast as there is no calorie intake however some sweeteners spike an insulin response.

Saying that, I always have a sweetner with my coffee and I've continued to have great loses.

You'll be fine to have a small amount each coffee if it's helping you stick with your fast

Oh wow! I need to look this up!
It's amazing, I've been doing it for about 6 weeks now. My body has adjusted really well and I don't get hungry until an hour or so before my eating window (7pm ish)

It has really been such an easy lifestyle change for me. I’ve been using it to manage weight and cravings for a number of years now. Having read the science behind it, it freed me from the guilt I felt when skipping breakfast. Or I would choke down breakfast because I was forever told it was “the most important meal of the day” and feel ill for it for the rest of the day. My body functions so much better when I IF.

So with this then are you eating a lot in this one hour window? Or just a normal amount? I’m trying to lose weight after having a baby and only really making the effort now

I'm the opposite, I was grazing all day and feeling guilty, especially so if I had told myself I would be good that day. My problem is if I restrict all "bad food" I'm gonna eventually binge and feel terrible.

With fasting I'm finding it so so much easier to be "I really fancy that, I'll have it in my eating window"

First week I could eat alot in my eating window but as the weeks have gone by I feel like my stomach has shrunk and I'm satisfied by less.
In my hour I tend to have a "starter, main and a desert"

Does anyone who does OMAD (or even the fasters) find that then when they do eat, their lower stomach/bowel makes crazy noises? Mine reacts so badly. Sometimes it even gives me the runs…been struggling with heartburn type symptoms of late with it too. Obviously I’ve googled, and thus have my self dead and buried as a result. Be good to hear if other people’s experiences are similar?!
