When I was on IF I usually did 16/8 or 18/6, usually it would end up as 17/7. I didn't count drinks outside my window. I plan to start again next week as I found it hugely helpful for staying on top of my snacking.
Hey! I do IF 23/1Hi all, resurrecting this thread for some advice. I want to try IF for health reasons rather than weight loss. I read that you can have coffee and water while fasting, what are the rules around having a sugar in your coffee?! I don't want to go down the sweetener route but is having a sugar in my coffee going to ruin the effects of the fast?
Thought that might be the case! Thank youHey! I do IF 23/1
Sugar will break your fast unfortunately.
I know it's not the same but I eventually got used to having my coffee black after about a week
How are you finding IF?Thought that might be the case! Thank you
How about skinny syrup? 0 calories? I can't drink black coffee without it.Hey! I do IF 23/1

Artificial sweeteners are a grey area. Technically you aren't breaking your fast as there is no calorie intake however some sweeteners spike an insulin response. How about skinny syrup? 0 calories? I can't drink black coffee without it.
I only started last night but so far OK, I went 14 hours and will build that up more going forwards. Thanks for your advice. How are you finding IF?
Intermittent Fasting, 23 hours of the day is fasting, 1 hour is the eating window. Some also call it OMAD (one meal a day). What does IF 23/1 mean?
Exactly! Wish this thread was more activeIntermittent Fasting, 23 hours of the day is fasting, 1 hour is the eating window. Some also call it OMAD (one meal a day).

It's amazing, I've been doing it for about 6 weeks now. My body has adjusted really well and I don't get hungry until an hour or so before my eating window (7pm ish)Oh wow! I need to look this up!
It has really been such an easy lifestyle change for me. I’ve been using it to manage weight and cravings for a number of years now. Having read the science behind it, it freed me from the guilt I felt when skipping breakfast. Or I would choke down breakfast because I was forever told it was “the most important meal of the day” and feel ill for it for the rest of the day. My body functions so much better when I IF.It's amazing, I've been doing it for about 6 weeks now. I'm the opposite, I was grazing all day and feeling guilty, especially so if I had told myself I would be good that day. My problem is if I restrict all "bad food" I'm gonna eventually binge and feel terrible. It has really been such an easy lifestyle change for me. First week I could eat alot in my eating window but as the weeks have gone by I feel like my stomach has shrunk and I'm satisfied by less.So with this then are you eating a lot in this one hour window? Or just a normal amount? I’m trying to lose weight after having a baby and only really making the effort now
