I can't believe they were only given two days. Feels unfair for the owners and the carpenters/decorators. I hope that the designs last (also can't believe that woman spent basically 50% of her available time on that awful tree. What a terrible use of time.)
I admit I was waiting for a teapot moment with all those expensive guitars being handled in haste.
I didn't love either design. The guitar shop was pretty ok but the window display felt tacky. Also listening to the judges talk and reading the comments here I realised that yeah, they really missed an opportunity to really sell the guitars with opportunities for pictures of them in use/information on their origin etc..
also looked up the shops on insta - the guitar shop owner seema genuinely thrilled by what he got so I guess in the end it was ok!

Why do they all have to hug eachother all the time, I can't imagine going into work and having to hug everyone at the end of the day ughhhhhh (I realise I sound very very old).

I think the EXACT same. If I’m hiring an interior designer I do not expect them to be hugging me. Don’t touch me and we’ll get in great. Well, on a professional level. I’m hiring you for your skills and expertise, not to be your best mate
I'm sure i actually physically pulled back in my chair at one point as there was so much of it going on & I felt so uncomfortable just watching!
I thought the guitar shop fitted the brief exactly. I know they wang on about giving the client what they need rather than exactly what they want but that's rather patronising. Obviously clients are paying for ideas and expertise but guitar guy knew exactly what he wanted and made it clear. Also, anyone who plays guitar at a reasonable level knows exactly what they want and what they are looking at. The tree was an abomination.
Yeah and the guitar guy obviously knows far more about selling guitars and what works than Michelle. Anyone going in not knowing about guitars e.g buying a present are going to get the info they need from the owner, that's the whole point of his shop.
Each to their own but I thought the guitar shop transformation was a brilliant transformation. Loved the window display, all the neon signage inside, the soundproof booth and the way they created an atmospheric club like feel. It felt like Michelle was clutching at straws to find negatives - they could have showcased the guitars more (but they followed the brief) and put in more of a socialising space. Yet if they had done that, Michelle would no doubt have told them they needed to remember it was a shop first and foremost and not a club.
In contrast I felt very underwhelmed by the gift shop. They basically painted it orange and tidied it up. The Crossroads Motel counter was absolutely horrible and one of their best sellers (the knitted clothes) were moved to a small branch (which could only hold about 10 garments) in the middle of the shop. Also why was Michelle lavishing praise on the gallery wall going upstairs when the original shop already had one.
I'm guessing the final will be between Emmely and Lia but I've been wrong about everything else this season!

I agree - the guitar shop was great and what the client wanted.
I noticed that the gift shop was painted the same colours as Michelle's studio (which isn't really her studio and looks like a film set). I disliked the stupid Blue Peter tree in the window.

in the gift shop it looks like they’ve got rid of the striped wallpaper and changing room going on their Instagram.
Can't decide what was worse, the tree or the paint brush chandelier.

I thought it was very picky of Michelle to say about the guitar shop seating area - 'well you could've put some guitar magazines or something on the table'. I presume the team thought the owner was actually capable of that. He didn't need their 'vision' to be able to grasp the concept of putting a magazine on a table.
I reeeeeally dislike Michelle now.

I’m not sure what else they could have done. They added the stage, the sound booth. He is a guitar shop- that’s one product!
Haven't watched masterchef in years but I remember when they set them a task sometimes John would cook the dish first to show viewers how it should be done. I'd love for Michelle/Monica to tell us what she would have done apart from put magazines on the table. Even the guest judge was useless when his suggestion was "well you could have put books there".
I can't get too annoyed cos Duran needed to go. However, I don't think the final 3 are anything exciting either.

This is the first series of the show I’ve watched. My mum recommended it to me. I’m really enjoying it but I just can’t warm to Michelle at all. My partner works away in the week so I have lots of time in the evening for TV when my little ones are asleep! Does anyone have any recommendations of stand out series of this show that are worth the watch? I keep seeing comments about Banjo (may have spelt that wrong, sorry). Which series was he in? Thanks everyone

XMichelle has been better in other series’s. Banjo is in series 3. I didn't know Banjo had started in this as I have been watching him on Scotland's home of the year and Designing the Hebrides.
I've gone back to watch series 3, such a big difference between the abilities then compared to this recent series.
