I liked Ajeet's sectioned room - it made it more interesting. As far as I could see all Michelle disliked really was the wood surface of the kitchen island didn't match the wooden table in the sitting room area.

Papier mache woman's was good tbf. Though how she's got this far is baffling.
But of the others there was so many bad bits - the poo wall, exposed bed and squiggle, aggressive use of 70s theme. All far worse than Ajeet's.

On another note I've just started watching on iplayer Banjo and his husband Ro doing up their Ulva hotel. What a lovely programme. That library was just gorgeous. Ro said something like 'you're so good at doing a room and making it look like it's always been there' which is so true.

I don't think any of them have shown a lot of interior design talent so far. Squiggle woman should have gone.

I quite like Michelles comments about design, when she is consistent! Part of me was thinking this year, she is focussing more on the practical purpose of the rooms, rather than just the design. Which is why Ajeet went last night, because his colour scheme was too much and it made his room look smaller rather than bigger. But personally I preferred his design to some others. But had he used that sofa in other designs? like the navy one?

I also think they have been told more this year, about leaving areas, like the bathroom and kitchen tiles last night. rather than trying to do a cheap cover up.

Im not sure how you are meant to make a studio flat that is that small, look good. Imagine waking up in the morning and smelling and seeing last nights dinner remains in the kitchen area! (maybe you are tidier than me, but we dont always

Papier mache girl was genuinely good. I’m in shock. Only one who really thought about the practicalities of that flat. Rest were rit in different ways.

I think it’s an absolute joke that tiny flats like that are seen as luxury. There’s hardly any space for anything! I can’t believe Duran didn’t go! She didn’t screen off the bed at all and constantly makes mistakes. Did Michelle want an all girl’s final or something?
I don’t know if they’ve done this before but I would like to see them make over a bungalow or space for older people (like 65+) with mobility issues/disability. I think really having to plan something out and think of all the different ways you need to accommodate someone who isn’t able bodied would be really interesting to see.

I also really liked Amy who I think was runner up to Banjo. She was a wallpaper designer. She worked with him on some of his Designing the Hebrides programme.

I suspect Michelle has her favourite from day one and won’t move on that. I follow Nicky from the first series on Instagram, who went out really early. She’s done some great interiors for high end clients. That was the year dusty old knickers curtains woman won.

Emmerly was good, don't care for her art style but her room was good. The kitchen backsplash and her joinery looked bespoke and luxe compared to the others.

The whole " we want to encourage people to rent" bull. Young people can't even afford to buy these stupid tiny New York style apartments. This is all you can expect - to sleep in your damn kitchen. Depressing.

This felt very dystopian when Michelle said it. Easy for her to say she could see herself living there when she actually lives in a rural cottage that she’s currently renovating.

Yes, Banjo's series was really good.

I agree about Michelle. Remember when Monica won despite not having finished her rooms most weeks, that was crazy. And I always felt Matt was much stronger than Roisin in that series.

I actually really like her as a person, her posts on social media are excellent, she's great at thinking about sustainability and practices what she preaches but she seems to have lost her enthusiasm for the show. I wonder how much say she has in the contestants, and if she's just a bit depressed at the standard dropping in recent series?

Agree with all of that - she really seems to have lost her joie de vivre on the show, so it just feels very flat when she's on screen. Perhaps it is down to the poor standard of designers - I find that pretty depressing too!

Michelle speaks to the contestants like they're lower sixth students who are full of enthusiasm but need a lot of knowledge and skill imparted, I appreciate all the contestants develop over the series but I think Michelle would prefer a group that's a little more accomplished and need less of her guidance. I bet she's in the equivalent of the teachers lounge cracking open a gin before the bells' even gone when filming
