The inquest was opened yesterday (Friday), and they have officially said the cause of death was 'incision of the neck' with a knife. He died at the scene so I'm assuming it got his jugular or carotid and he bled out quickly rather than truly suffering like he deserved.
By the sounds of it, like some earlier predicted, it had nothing to do with the fact he was a pedalo and instead, was to do with money by the looks of things. According to the coroner, back in 2019, he told a jury he was worried he would be attacked because he had been ordered to hide a phone, he was given to scam cash out of the idiots who visited and wrote to him.
The inquest has now been suspended until those arrested are put on trial, the first two with murder and the two just arrested with suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and they find out the outcome.
Ian Watkins was murdered at HMP Wakefield earlier this month and now the inquest into what happened has officially begun by Coroner Oliver Longstaff Wakefield Coroners' Court.
