Can someone update the thread later if they have been following the woman who had to leave her horses outside? I couldn't bring myself to follow her even though I know I'm desperate to find out :(
Really hope they are all ok.

The last post she made they seemed to be ok and the storm was hitting them when she made it 😊

Whenever these storms hit, it always reminds me of how badly and flimsily built American houses are. Of course Hurricane Milton was a ferocious force of nature that was always going to cause extensive damage but it doesn't change the fact that homes are built to a terrible standard

I've noticed this when tornados have gone through and all that is left is peoples belongings and piles of wood

plywood mostly. Not a brick in sight. All the houses that are destroyed will be rebuilt using the same cheap materials.

My dogs would be left to fend for themselves during a hurricane over my dead body.

It seems that the loyalty our pets give us isn’t reciprocated by a lot of people.

Insane to me that they’re such a rich country with so many storms and they’ve built their houses from wood

The building controls and red tape in this country can be maddening but suffice to say that there's barely a home in America built in the last 50 years that would be passed for approval here.

At least 4 people killed by a tornado in St Lucie. There were tornado warnings one time when my parents lived in Florida and they were terrified, but nothing ever came of it. For these people to deal with hurricane after hurricane and adding tornadoes into the mix… my heart goes out to everyone who has lost their lives, homes and livelihoods 💔

I'm definitely not a fan of the names they give these storms - it seems to make them almost sound a silly. 'Milton' sounds like he's a 48 year old Tax Accountant from Denver.

It seems good but when I saw the post I saw people asking how.would they get them out of the house got flooded because I think you have to leave via a window then? People were saying they'd be safer let out to run than being stuck in the house with no escape
Yeh, whenever I’ve watched hurricane prep it does always seem advisable to leave them out but I know there were some posts upset on here about that, so thought they’d like this. It must be such a horrible decision to make. Essential to have their vaccines always up to date so that you can evacuate them (if you’re in a position to be able to).

I do love the videos of the people foster failing the dogs they took from the shelters to foster during the storm though 🥰
