See I love IT, and have a friend who works as a technician for start ups and he's smashing it - also works from home full time lucky bugger lol, but I'm worried I'll have to start on an extremely low wage again :(
---

I'll definitely consider it - I don't really see myself as the management type but I will have a look !! Thank you x
Look into some PM courses you could do on the side while working. Agile is a good one.
project management is just methodology really and having a good knowledge of the industry will help.
Look for a project analyst or junior PM type role.
Where are you based roughly location wise?

Maybe look for a London based company, they will still pay better wages even if 99% of the work is remote x

Any recommendations 👀 👀
I haven’t I’m afraid……. I’m not in the engineering industry at all. But you could search on job boards for project analyst or junior project manager roles and see what kind of skills they are looking for and see if you match up at all x

Depending on your attitude towards job security, you could look at fintech start-ups, too. A lot are remote and pay competitively. Search “unicorn start ups” to get a good starting list.
I have a friend who works in startups tbh so I might have to bother him for some help ! I think I just want some more flexibility and somethings that keeps my brain active 💓

I don’t wanna suggest any because I don’t want to out myself haha but definitely do. Most in my field are flexible: unlimited PTO, no micromanagement, etc.

If you don't mind me asking, did you start with little to no experience? If so, would you share what the starting salary was? I am trying to work out what my options are before I change my career path entirely 😂 😂

Maybe off topic. I’m in marketing and earn £33k, with insane benefits. However… I’m starting to realise corporate life just isn’t for me and I’m craving a more simplified life! Anyone have any advice?

About 80k, could maybe do 90k if I really hammered the overtime and Sundays but a couple of days OT a month is enough for me. Shift work is slowly killing me though!
also I recently got an extra 32% of my base salary given to me for flexibility and now travel to different locations instead of one place and don’t have set shifts anymore, not sure if it’s worth it or not yet, mainly from a social life planning perspective.
I’m 28 with no kids but just taken on a massive mortgage due to the new interest rates.

As a side note, I’d recommend a job in railway operations to anyone, especially if you’re like I was before and constantly stressed about work when you’re not working- I never am now!

I work in share dealing on the settlements side, on 29500
This sounds like it would be such an interesting job - how do you find it?
Lo sorry I'm so nosey :)

Can't believe how much people are earning. I have clearly made some very, very bad decisions in life! I'm a TV Producer. £32,000.

I’m a signaller- the base salary is only 47k (obviously I know that’s still a great amount!) but each Sunday is £500 and rest day is £250, plus night shift premium and 32% flexi premium, it soon adds up! I try to do 2 Sundays and 3 rest days a month at the moment

Sounds interesting, I work in marketing and finding it v stressful and considering a change. May ask how you got in to this line of work please? I did apply for rail jobs before (grad scheme type thing) without success :(

Not sure I can offer a huge amount of advice but what do you do in marketing? I recently changed careers and am now a bid writer for a construction company. In a lot of ways I much prefer it to my old job, I love writing and this career path allows me to do that whilst actually making decent money (30k rising to 35 after probation, then after a year's experience I can make 50k+). It's not too stressful so far and I'm finding it quite easy so I would recommend it.

Having said that, I am also struggling with the corporate life. 😵💫 Why are people so mean? I hate being in my pod in a big office with witchy, fake people, and I hate meetings and dressing up everyday, and I hate people watching what I'm doing 24/7.

Honestly though, my main goal has always been to be self-sufficient and my partner and I are libertarians at heart lol. So I'm literally trying to do the highest paid job I can that doesn't make me wanna kms, buying property, and then dipping/working part time and from home. I feel like people at work can tell I'm an impostor sometimes🤣

Is there any way you could do marketing but work from home? Or get to the point where you're highly paid enough that you could just do part time? Unless you wanna change careers completely 😆
