Do you have any recommendations for horror movies that are actually good? Recently watched Annabelle and Hereditary and they were both crappy and overrated imo. Are there any films that have decent acting and satisfying endings?

Has anyone seen The Bride yet? It was a bit tit but not as bad as everyone is making out. I think the fact that it cost $80 million has got a lot of people’s backs up because most of that budget must have gone on the actors salaries. If it had been a little indie film with a much lower budget and some unknowns, the reviews would have been better I feel.

I'll wait until it's on a streaming service. The trailer isn't me making rush to see it tbh. It looks another style over substance film.

I watched Scream 7 at the weekend. Some good kills, and nice to have some nostalgia at points, but it didn’t really need to be made. The reveal at the end with regard to the identity of the killer(s) was underwhelming. I think they should’ve just started over rather than make Sydney the central point. Again.

I watched Together as well. Loved it. Love Alison Brie anyway, but she was great in this. And the mention of one of my favourite albums ever - Spice by the Spice Girls - and a cameo of 2 Become 1 was the icing on the cake.

Has anyone seen 'The Home' starring Pete Davidson? It's on prime. I'm a baby so I spent most of it looking three inches to the left of the TV rather than directly at it

Has anyone seen Dracula: A Love Story (2025) ? I think it's the first Dracula film I've been unable to finish. Absolute rubbish IMO and a rip off of Coppola's 1992 film. It didn't help that I actually found Dracula quite repulsive.


I also started on the second series of The Mayfair Witches last night. I love Anne Rice and read all her novels years ago but I have found the recent adaptions very hit and miss. Interview With A Vampire is brilliant. Talamasca was ok. The Mayfair Witches I'm going to give up on. I got through the first series but the second series has left me cold.

I binge watched the new “terrifying series” on Netflix last weekend. I think it’s called “something very bad is about to happen”. It started off strong, a couple of jump scares but imo, it got pretty boring. I thought the concept/message was cool but equally not surprising (trying not to spoil) but it’s not as scary as it’s being made out to be imo

Not quite horror but sorta because it’s a bit black mirror, I watched Mercy today (I wanted to see this in the cinemas) and really enjoyed it.

I also watched a daft one called ‘pretty lethal’ about ballerinas wasn’t great but was a bit gross, both free on prime.

I liked Mercy, I'd like to see them do other storylines in a similar way like those films (sorry I forget the name) where they take place through people's computer, so you see their Facebook messages and stuff and you can see them through the webcam. One was called missing I think but there were a few shot the same way but one where a daughter was trying to find her mum, one where a father was trying to find his daughter or his daughters killer etc. Very interesting because it's something a bit different.

I also think I’ve see that film you’re on about and really enjoyed that too! I agree, it’s something different but also current as let’s face it, that’s the way the world is at the minute isn’t it! I do find movies with AI quite frightening in a different type of way. The TV show fracture on BBC is really good if the AI theme is up people’s street, I’ve not started the most recent series yet though but Series 1 and 2 were brilliant

I enjoyed 'Something Very Bad is Going to Happen', it's got a strong look to it and the soundtrack is really good (by Colin Stetson - the same guy who did the Hereditary soundtrack).

It's totally ridiculous and daft - but it's fun, has good aesthetics and I really liked Camila Morrone, Gus Birney is also great as the unhinged ditsy blonde.

I started watching and turned off after a few minutes as like you say it looked like a bad Coppola rip off, even the costumes were copied. It looked god awful.

I've tried watching all three Anne Rice series (it's crazy how quickly they are churning them out) but none of them have really captured any of the novels for me. I find the acting really bad and they actually become very boring very quickly.

I don't think Anne Rice would have approved of any of them but I guess her son is desperate to make some dollar.

Watched Lake Mungo (really creepy) and Shelby Oaks (serviceable) on Prime this weekend.

I see they have Strangers Chapter 2 on there now as well.

I guess this is still horror, I just watched the new shark movie on Netflix - “Thrash”. I enjoyed it, very typical shark movie so you know what you’re getting before watching.
It reminds me of the other movie, crawl (I think) which is similar but with crocodiles. I enjoyed that movie too
