Does Holly ever mention watching TV, Netflix etc?

She doesn't (she doesn't even watch youtube all that often). I remember when she was at Cambridge she put up a video called "why I don't watch TV or read books" where she essentially said she was proud of this fact. Becuase of the backlash she took it down less than a day later if I remember correctly.

She must think watching TV is a waste of time. I used to think that about video games, until my boyfriend pointed out video games have stories just like books and TV shows, so why judge them to be a waste of time? A lot of the media I consume is so I can keep up with conversations at work! Imagine how dull a conversation with her must be, she doesn't even keep up with the news

When i was at Uni they didnt have leaderboard or certainly didnt announce anything, there was an award for best dissertation in some subjects but not mine. I have to agree with comment though easily the best candidates on my course where both mature students who had worked in various other roles before, including medical and military fields and they you could say certainly got the best jobs straight out of Uni.

It’s all about the life experience!

Travelling really did Holly some good for her independence and I think she just needs to get out there more, experience life outside of the such small bubbles she’s been in her whole life!

+ Oh dear lord, she really classifies talking about body hair as a ‘Holly gets deep’?!!!???

Might be an awkward topic for preteens going through puberty but ffs it shouldn’t be that deep for a 22 year old surely??!? She amazes me with the lack of maturity and sheer awkwardness on topics which just ain’t that deep.

This is from the same girl who made up her undergraduate credits as she didn't know what they were.

I can't get over this - she has absolutely no common sense or problem solving abilities. I'm pretty sure that I remember her saying in one of her uni vlogs that she'd never used the career services either. What a way to waste a degree and your intellect. She needs some tough love far away from home where she's forced to socialise with a variety of different people who aren't just hard core vegans with potential eating disorders/ exercise fixations.

There is so many things wrong with this entire family i cant imagine Holly ever integrating properly into a typical workplace, im shocked she thought she was suitable to teach high school pupils straight out of Uni

Honestly, Holly just doesn't seem passionate about becoming a cancer researcher at all? And cancer research strikes me as such an odd choice of subject for someone who just wants to do a Master's in order to do a Master's, if you know what I mean. I know people irl who are studying biology/pharmacy with the goal of doing cancer research someday, and they're all extremely driven and passionate about their studies, in a way that feels very different from Hollys "passion for productivity" and studying.

Though tbh I still think she deserves to get in, after all she's excelled during her undergrad at Cambridge and that has to count for something. It's just that I can't understand her reasoning behind pursuing this particular Master's degree. Feels like she's just chasing things that will look good on paper.

If I was on the admissions team at UCL, I'd rather someone with a 2:1 who actually wants to do the subject.

Another thing (again mentioned on GG but it’s so ridiculously slow I’m giving up on it)

Holly using ‘its all relative’ as a reply to people commenting about her tidiness/productivity levels. To me, it seems ridiculous to be using that as a valid comeback. Here’s why:

1. Yes. Everything IS relative. But, when your level of productivity or cleanliness is at a point where it’s so far off the scale, I don’t think that can be used. People comment those things because Holly’s patterns just aren’t normal, and it’s weird to see. It’s not a case of ‘things being relative’ but a case of ‘this is too far you need professional help’.

The only things she does throughout the day that aren't working (tutoring and editing) are:

• Cooking and eating
• Excercise or exercise recovery
• Reading for maybe an hour?

She doesn't watch TV, I think she barely watches any youtubers. Her new found need to read (I wouldn't call it a love of reading) stems from her need to have productive hobbies. Hell even when she listens to podcasts she does more research and writes notes on them (and talks about this like it's normal).

She needs to realise that being productive isn't a personality trait, that lots of people work hard (more than 9-5) and are successful and also watch TV and hang out with friends and do bloody normal stuff

I thought maybe they were quite religious and against it, but im not too sure Emily and Holly both seem incredibly immature for their age and im shocked Emily has a boyfriend, i can just imagine her wowing him with her cringing tik tok dances then preparing him a vegan feast of boiled bland vegetables and a spoonful of rice.

I wonder why Holly hardly applied to any different Masters courses - she only applied to like 3/4? And now if she doesn't get into UCL, she's changing her whole plan again. When I applied for my Masters I applied for the same course at like 9 different unis!

she probably only wants to go to what she considers prestige Unis in posh privileged areas, i doubt you get her applying to a Uni in a deprived poor Northen area

I get she went to an All girls school so minimal contact with males their, surely she had youngish male teachers or TA's though, plus any extra curricular. I'm genuinely amazed it took her 22 years to talk to a person of the opposite sex, most teenagers would of had a part time job with guys, lived with guys in halls, had guy friends on their course and in societies etc. What about the trade men who would come round to your house to do jobs, Matt's friends, her dads friends and surely Emily has had boyfriends in the past. I cannot understand how sheltered Holly is

She’s probably just trying to make it another personality trait so she has something other than productivity to make videos about.

Also seemed to me like she was kinda copying UnJaded Jade in that whole ‘Gap Year + Boys’ Story video.

Has Emily separated from her boyfriend, he seems to have disappeared from her social media ?
I know some religions are cult like and crazy but i have a lot of friends who go to church and their homes are lovely, very colourful, homely, welcoming and often full of people, entertaining etc.
Take Grackle for example her family are quite heavily involved in a local church, but their family dynamic and home are both balanced.

Honestly I've got no clue - she needs a dose of the real world. I've got a sister who's studying a pre-med track at the moment but isn't convinced she wants to do post-grad medicine. I've told her to take a few years off and work, mature a bit and figure it out. We don't have to know exactly what we want to do at the age of 18/20/23. She's set on doing med because of some preconceived notion that taking time off between degrees is bad.

I wonder if this is influencing Holly's decision to rush into something rather than actually going out into the world for a bit. I wish she'd take a leaf out of Paige's book and get a job, even if it's a random secretarial role miles away from her parents where the pay is so bad she's forced to live in a sharehouse. I'd watch that content

I do feel bad for Holly, truly. But Christ, she needs to grow up and move out.

I really think she would benefit from talking therapy, but she’s adamant that she is doing just fine and gets all her support from her family when I feel like they are more than a little odd. It sucks for her that she has such little self awareness at 22.

I think the best we can hope for is for her to really take into account the concerned people on the GG thread and the one on here and move beyond trying to justify her issues with food and exercise and acknowledge that she isn’t really recovered. I know if she would have sought out professional help for anorexia though they likely wouldn’t have let her go on a vegan diet to start out with considering how restrictive it already is.

I also doubt she would see a therapist, I don’t think she thinks she has any problems but any kind of criticism or bringing up of her diet clearly bothers her enough to go through and censor comments and she has made a conscious effort to check the GG thread so it does strike a nerve. She is very insecure as a person, and mentally young as it has been said.

Her parents have never been supportive and she is an adult so there isn’t much they could do anyway beyond finding a time to talk to her. I no longer watch her regularly, she doesn’t need the views. I liked her Australian vlogs but after she had to go to the hospital from overexertion and noticed how toxic her always-productive, must-exercise/go on runs mindset is I lost a lot of interest.

Also, eating disorders can take years to fully go away and without a strong support system (which Holly does NOT have), it makes it 10 times harder. Honestly taking a bit of a break from social media would be good for her. I do want the best for her and hope that she's able to find people she's comfortable around and can be honest with her as she chooses to continue her education.

One thing that stands out about Holly is that she doesn’t seem to have any interests. For an educated person she doesn’t seem to have much knowledge outside her subject. I’m a first year student, and I don’t just limit myself to my subject, I watch the news, read about politics, watch documentaries etc. But holly never shows herself learning about things that don’t relate to biology/sciences. She never seems to watch YouTube, tv, has only just started reading books and other than exercising she doesn’t appear to have any hobbies. It’s almost like she restricts herself so much that she can’t possibly venture into something new. It would be really good for holly and her channel if she showed learning new things and developing new interests and just letting go to do something relaxing. Do we think she has ever just sat on the sofa watching tv with her family?

She’s the definition of privilege aiding privilege. It’s a cycle and in all actuality doesn’t help anyone. The people she tutors are those who can afford it, and the people she’s hiring are those who have had access to a great education. Not everyone can get that, or afford what Holly offers. She said she wants to make it accessible but she’s continually doing the exact opposite.

100 % This. I wouldn't be surprised if she's done first round selections for her tutoring business based on university attended.

I feel like she’s actually made a really good decision for herself and her future, it definitely is a much healthier option for her with her ED past, her interest in studying nutrition seemed as though she was more interested in focusing on food, whereas the current option seems more in line with her studies and more her. It’s a shame she’s not going abroad, but in fairness with coronavirus maybe that affected her mindset too?
