It shocks me that the parents did such creative jobs as they don't come across as artistic types
They're in the creative industries but they're not creatORs, if that makes sense. They play/ dance parts that other, more creative people have written. Their job is to execute the notes or steps well. Sure, there's an element of artistry, but actually in a West End pit orchestra or dance ensemble you probably don't actually get that much opportunity to be expressive and spontaneous - you're really just there to reproduce a carbon copy of the same show, night after night.

It does really look like she quit her job so she could be at the gym all day. The Insta story post about how being focused on one thing is how to live life...but that's a massive luxury. Most people have to work or child care alongside whatever self-development or alternative career goal they have in mind. That is just not what real life is like.
It’s a luxurious until you’ve made your entire existence about you and “leveling” up and I think I would eventually feel very isolated and also unsatisfied

Being focused on maintaining a disorder really isn’t the way to live life.
I wonder if part of it is that she has nothing else to do because she doesnt have any other friends. I can definitely see her being unbearable in person when she's deeply consumed by her ed, but in her Charlie phase she actually seemed fun and laid back and had initially made friends with that friend group before her and Charlie split. It's unfortunate because she struggled to make friends in university and especially after as many people do because you're no longer around as many people. Now she's attached to her bf at the hip which is not attractive to a prospective friend.

That's the thing, and it's almost a vicious cycle isn't it? She has no outside focus now, no job, no other friends etc but then it would also be difficult for her to make friends in the situation she is in now

I think she doesn't have friends because having fun isn't being productive.
Agree here. She views resting or socialising or doing something ‘aimless’ as not an essential part of human life. Somewhere along the line she got it into her head that working is the only way to really make meaning in the world for yourself. Rather than actually taking time she needs to recover from injuries she just gets up and continues. Even mental injuries as I suppose we could classify her ED. She’s never once fully stopped to fully focus on her mental health and really even just think about her head. It’s like she’s on a weird autopilot driven by exercise and Angelo.

Did she take down the video where she said she got an STD from having sex? (Seemed like it was Charlie)

I assumed the same thing but then she made the video saying that she doesn't use condoms which makes me think it was Angelo because she refused to say which one it was but she did say while it wasn't curable it could go away on its own.

Am I misremembering or was it HPV? And everyone was speculating who it was from or what it clap?
when they’ve said STI in really trying to remember what she said, she was open about it at the time (if I remember correctly)

We think it's HPV because it's incurable, but not life threatening according to Holly, but she never said what it was

There was a period where she was sharing a lot of personal stuff online. Talking about having STDs, the weirdest place she'd had sex, whether she shaved her pubic region and effectively letting her whole "relationship" with Charlie play out for the cameras.

Although it's her channel and she was free to do as she pleased, I always felt that she'd regret sharing such intimate details about her life online, especially something like an STD which involves another person and would lead to speculation. Imagine that's why she's deleted it.

ah yes, we love covering up Hollys incapability to do more than 2 things at once with ‘essentialism’. Yeah sure if everyone working on their office jobs for 100+ hours a week labelled their life as ‘essentialism’ everyone would laugh in their face, but put the same label onto fitness/going to the gym full time and all of a sudden it’s positive?

I do not in any means view what Holly is doing in a positive nor realistic light. I do not think it is mentally healthy to put all your eggs into one basket, and reduce your world so much to the point where the only people you see are your partner, family (only because they are in circumstances which has forced them to stay with family), and random faces at the gym. By reducing her world to such a small, insular scale, Holly will probably do quite well at this Hyrox thing. But at what cost? Her social skills are down the drain, no wider friendship circles who she’s regularly in touch with, no career prospects (other than Hyrox, but her body won’t be in its 20s forever), just seems like such a sad small world to be a part of.

I really think that Hyrox is filling the void that was left by not becoming a dancer. With ballet especially, you have to start SUPER young, do a pre-pro course at age 14-18ish, and then join a company and try to make it up through the ranks.

Holly chose university instead and basically missed the opportunity to be a professional ballet dancer. But I think she would have loved the "essentialist" (if that's what we're calling it) company lifestyle - you're taking ballet class from 9am, rehearsing throughout the day, performing in the evening, and when you're not doing any of those things you're probably getting sports massage/ physio/ conditioning training etc. It's a lifestyle that is incredibly regimented and organised around just one thing.

So, to me it looks like she's trying to replicate that sense of extreme structure and dedication in an alternate field (Hyrox), now that she's definitely way too old to get into a professional ballet company.

She could have gone the alternate route of being "essentialist" about a science career, but actually a science career is *somewhat* less rigidly hierarchical. I think the lack of exams/ hoops to jump through after the Masters level freaked Holly out. The idea of actually applying her knowledge to solve real-life problems in messy, real-life scenarios, where perfect outcomes aren't guaranteed - rather than just being tested on her excellence continually - freaked her out - which is why teaching, medicine, and research never seemed to appeal to her.

She's in pursuit of perfection, which as we all know isn't an attainable thing. But sport allows her to at least be ranked within a very tightly controlled system.

Trying to go all in on Hyrox is just a stupid decision anyway because it's just a single thing and people will get bored of it.

If she's trying to be a fitness creator/influencer she needs to look at people like Will Tennyson, Magnus Mitbo etc. who do have a core interesting (bodybuilding/gym stuff for Will, climbing for Magnus) and then create a range of supplimental content around that (eg. getting other content creators in your videos trying out your things, days in the life of, meal content, travel vlogs etc.) and do that kind of model. She had a good following anyway so could have converted that but she just seems so chaotic and with no plan.

JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter while a single mum, doing I think books 2-3 while also holding a normal job. By the time she could live off the books alone, she was also working on the movie adaptations and founding the Lumos charity.

Sports do require a huge amount of focus, but many sports people still have other activities - or their job as a sports star means other related work.

There are very few people who only do one thing, and very few people who seek the isolation that Holly has curated for herself.

Almost every professional athlete in the Olympics for example has another job don't they? I actually cannot work put what she's doing or planning to do long term it's just bizarre
