Holly Gabrielle #10 Chasing times while Angelo whines

I assume there might be more men participating, and even so, half a minute can be flooded with a lot of people finishing at the same time. Like at my parkrun, the 29-33 minute finish mark has about half the participants (350-400 ppl) in it and then the rest is spread out between 16-28 mins and 34-55 minutes, typically.
I bet 1 hour 5 mins in the womens is amazing whereas in the mens it is the good side of average. Men typically have more muscle mass/power, larger stride etc.

So even though their times are not that far apart, I think it seems like Holly has absolutely pushed harder. Good for her.

And no, I couldn't manage what either of them are doing, my weekly parkrun has me looking like a beetroot for half an hour afterwards and I go home and scoff a sausage toastie, ha ha.

Fair play to them both for trying but I do hope Holly gets to celebrate without guilt.

How do you see how many competitors were there? Their total times are actually quite close together. Does anyone know what all the factors are that make up the ranking?
If you click on the race, there were 555 total competitors for the men and 156 for the women. So, Angelo came in the top 25% and Holly came in approximately the top 5%. Quite a big difference.

I appreciate that it appears a lot more men compete than women, but that's simply the level of competition they're up against. Holly has a real chance at making it. I'd give Angelo less than 1% and feel that's being generous. There's far, far too much ground to make up.

Im curious to see how this shakes out as they compete at different venues because with only 2 races it's clear that Holly is better equipped for hyrox as a whole, but I also wonder if they've simply picked two cities where the male competition is genuinely good and the female competition isn't because Holly followed the same training plan as Angelo. I do understand that Angelo has a poor mindset and Holly has been competitive and successful all her life, but I find it very surprising that Holly is doing so well.

Holly has finished 8th.

Fair play to her. She might actually make it in this (but the less we say about Angelo the better).
duck yes!!!! So proud of her!!! I REALLY hope she sticks with it regardless of what happens to Angelo cos this has the potential to be an amazing lifechanging journey for her. I reckon she definitely has what it takes both physically and mentally!

It’s interesting that when she has to follow a concrete external plan and check specific boxes, she’s extremely successful (school, uni, hyrox, dance).

But when she has to set her own goals without external guidance (like her YouTube after graduation or what to do with her career), she seems so lost. No hate, more like observation cause I find it fascinating

I find it interesting hat she hypes him up so much and it's dead silence from him about her performance. Surely you... want to see your partner do well?

I really get terrible vibes from him. Huge red flags

Well unless you’re a fragile little person who can’t cope…. Which I think he falls into (from what we’ve seen)

Holly’s time is significantly better, regardless of how many women vs men compete, she’s done much better! And fair play, and tbf to Holly she has been in competitive environments before so probably understands what to do, where as he strikes me as quite cocky on being able to “make it” without much experience

Im confused. On the hyrox website it says they basically got the same total time this time.

They have a similar total time but they don't compete in the same categories and the weights are adjusted for the women to be lower. I wouldn't directly compare their times with each other but how they do in their respective categories (and she greatly outperforms him).

You can tell how excited and happy Holly is to have performed well as she rightly should be and amongst that she still praises Angelo but he says NOTHING about how well Holly does.
I said it perform but I’ll say it again, this was his idea and he’s bitter that she’s outperforming him. I’m really sad that it feels like he’s dimming her light.

Holly's percentile ranking is much better than Angelo's, but their times are almost the same and that's with different weights. So if the weights already account for their biological differences the only real difference is how rigorous their competitors are unless im missing something.

I’m so happy for Holly, she did brilliant!

Angelo really should be hyping up her achievement more. He hasn’t shared anything on instagram about her podium position. In his latest post he gives her a shout out for supporting him.

Purely from a monetary perspective, her success could lead to sponsorships which will prolong the experience for both of them. They should both be shouting it from the rooftops.
