It is, isn’t it? We’ve had 40 boxes and didn’t pay full price once 😂😂

I’ll check Gousto out again 👀 Thanks!
How have you done this?! I tried once to open a subscription in my name and they emailed saying they had cancelled my order as we had a previous subscription at the same address (my husband) so I couldn’t use the promos

Don’t know if it’s the same but we do it with hellofresh. We used the discount for the first boxes and when it ran out we cancelled, but then they send more discount codes via email to get you to sign back up. So we use them then cancel again and repeat. You do have to wait for the discount emails so can’t have it every week.

Oh really? I didn’t do anything special to be honest, so I’m probably not super helpful. It sounds silly to me as they don’t know you are a couple, for all they know it could be a houseshare or you could have moved house 🧐

We both used our own last name, email address and bank account.
@Giggling Squid Did you do anything specific? X

I think for us we just cancelled and they kept emailing us to sign back up!

I liked Gousto for a while until I had to deal with their awful customer service, I'd skipped a box but for whatever reason I got an email saying one was on its way. I called up and said "Hey I skipped this week I have an email to say it etc, but I've had an email and payment taken out saying one is on its way"

And the woman was so rude to me, she said "Well I'm sorry but it's your fault you didn't skip it properly, are you sure the email is from us? What are we going to do with the food now? Bin it? We can't keep it and we can't give it away!?! You'll have to have it!" She got proper arsey with me.

I ended up getting passed on to someone else who said I could have the box and they would credit me for my next one as it wasn't my fault. Some of the recipes they'd chosen were okay the rest I'd given to my parents, but I don't order from them anymore.

I do use the recipe cards alot and there are alot of brill recipes on their website for free and honestly i found doing that cheaper than buying the boxes anyway as things had better dates and more quantity (spices etc) for me personally.

We have 2 separate accounts one in my name one in his, we have one active at a time which we cancel when the discount has run out. Within a week or 2 they’ll send you a “come back and save x Off your next few boxes” email, so use that to reactivate but suspend deliveries until the other accounts discounts run out. They usually offer 3-4 weeks discount at a time.
The key is cancelling your account then they beg you to come back

Yeah that's exactly what I do too! I don't know why it's not working for you @a.pain, sorry!

My experience with Hello Fresh was pretty bad, I think almost half the box had missing ingredients which is super inconvenient (when you just need a table spoon of a random spice) and I, ironically, found that a lot of the veg wasn’t very fresh. They did however keep luring us back offering discounts etc for the missing/gone off veg - then we realised it just wasn’t worth it.

As I said before, never any issues with Gousto and just about to jump on another discount !

Hmm when they sent the email cancelling my order it did say ‘if you’ve recently moved or are a separate household please get in touch and we will sort it’ or whatever but it made me feel like a fraud so I left it 😳 this was like four years ago though, might try it again. We are going to move house in a couple of months so it will probably work then as I’ll have a new address!

I’ve had two Gousto meals this week, still got two more to go. I’ll give it more of a chance but so far I definitely prefer hellofresh. I think hellofresh flavours are better.
Do you also get a free wooden spoon in your first gousto box? I do think gousto is better packages that hellofresh.

I got a free spoon with my first box :)

I much prefer Gousto! But I do love Hello Fresh too

I’ve tried both. There’s some really amazing meals and I loved not having to think of as many meal ideas. I think I preferred hello fresh just because I found the recipes easier and a bit more tasty, I love cooking but I bought the boxes for convience on nights I can’t be arsed! I found the portion sizes for both ok, they were a bit stingy on potatoes though 😅
I unfortunately had issues with both in the end though, hello fresh sent me the wrong meals twice within a few months so I cancelled and then Gousto I tried to skip two weeks as I was away (even had the confirmation) then had an email saying it had been dispatched when I’d not even chosen meals?! They tried to convince me to keep it when I contacted them despite saying I’m not at home so I can’t so again I couldn’t be bothered. I’ll maybe try them again in winter as I find I don’t struggle for meals ideas as much in summer for some reason.

Loved Gousto when I used them.
I would never use Hello Fresh on principle. The amount of ads I see celebs and influencers doing for them. There’s so many people that are struggling right now and need help.
Maybe Gousto does this too but I only see it with Hello Fresh

I've only tried hellofresh, it was quite nice but I found it a bit fiddly with the recipe cards and packets. I'm far more slapdash than that. Heard good things about Gousto.

I'd like to try pasta evangelists as I love pasta!

I thought hellofresh was fiddly but I find gousto more so, never needed a food processor for hellofresh!

Just had an email from gousto saying they are bringing in a 1.99 delivery charge.

I don't mind too much but I just would prefer them to up the price of the box as a whole and delivery be "free". Especially as there is no option to get it slower/cheaper or collect it etc.

So to me it would make more sense for delivery to just be included in the cost of the box
