Hello Fresh & Gousto etc

We had to give up on Hello Fresh as 2-3 times they missed out ingredients and then would offer us £2 or whatever in compensation - and so the vicious cycle continued of ordering to use the credit etc

Gousto is brilliant though!

I’m vegetarian and absolutely love gousto! I tried the free box from hello fresh and they sent me a meat box and a bunch of random ingredients with no cards, which made me not bother again!
Ooh good to know as I did HelloFresh as a vegetarian and got sooooo booooored. There were so few veggie options each week and we didn't even do it that long but ended up with so many similar recipes each week.

Will have to look at Gousto.

We’ve always used hellofresh (when we got discounts) as I was told it was better. Also there was 3 of us and gousto is only 2/4 people right?
I’ve moved out now alone, I was going to get hellofresh and have one new meal two days but may try gousto instead

I use Gousto and have done for years. Agree it is expensive but I am terrible at meal planning so actually saves money and food wastage for us. I don't do it very week now as I find I get bored otherwise but use it every other week or two. There are 3 of us, me, husband and 9 year old daughter and I personally find the portions very generous, the three of us share a 2 person meal and usually with the rice or pasta ones, there's enough left over for a lunch as well!

I find the Gousto portions ok, rice and pasta definitely more generous. Potato portions are not. 3 small potatoes do not make enough chips here or mash 🤣

I've tried both and love Gousto. We've been using it for waaay over a year now.

Does anyone have a gousto code? 😄
I do, if you need it. 65% off for your first box and 30% off from there. Just to clarify tho it would also give me £30 credit.

I always find with hellofresh we have a lot of garlic left over. My grandma didn’t realise it was one clove and put the whole of the garlic into the one meal and then was complaining they didn’t send enough garlic 😂

I love Gousto but hate how stingy they are with the garlic cloves 😩
I’ve found it really varies. Sometimes you’ll get exactly the right number of (or not quite enough) actual cloves in a bag but then other times you get whole bulbs and then after a couple of weeks you start drowning in garlic.

We’ve been using Gousto for a while - they are expensive but it got to the point in lockdown where if I had to think of another thing to cook then I would have screamed. We used Hello Fresh for a while before that but found the quality really bad, especially things like chicken and fish. It also go to the point that there was so much missing from each box that it just wasn’t saving any time or effort, and their complaints procedure was so irritatingly old-fashioned.

I much prefer Gousto’s meal choices, their deliveries seem more reliable and less thrown about, on the odd occasion when something has been missing it’s no hassle to report it on the app and they’re pretty generous with the discounts. I would say that (although this is probably based on the kinds of things we chose) that the Hello Fresh meals seemed more ‘family friendly’ in terms of flavours. Gousto do like their spice and their signature seems to be fresh chillies on everything. Hello Fresh always seemed to have bl**dy raw grated carrot in every meal - blergh.

I've used gousto in the past and found it ok but had a lot of issues with them saying my box had been delivered when it hadn't.
I also now refuse to spend any of my money of products that are gifted for free to influencers.

My partner and I tried Gousto the week we moved in together and we both got food poisoning from the first recipe we tried. The box was delivered quite late in the day, so we think there must have been an issue with the chicken and the cool packs. I contacted their customer service about it and never got a reply which was really disappointing as I was actually quite poorly and only left my bed to go the bathroom for 3 days. Everyone’s comments is making me want to give them another shot though.

We’ve been using Hello Fresh a lot this year and we actually love it. The recipes do get repetitive after a while, but they are really tasty and foolproof. I really love their Thai inspired ones are the salmon terriyaki. Hello Fresh is great with promo codes too! My partner will use a code that will give us 4 discounted boxes, then deactivate his subscription and I’ll use a promo code then deactivate my subscription. By the time we’ve finished the month, he will have received a “Here’s an offer for you to come back” code 😅 I think the food with Hello Fresh is fairly basic but because we get boxes when we’re busy, it’s great.

Oh my god, it is literally the easiest thing in the world get discounted boxes. You literally just have to visit the site and you suddenly get a ‘we miss you’ email 😂 not complaining though.

Gousto is definitely my fave out of the lot so I’m sorry you had a bad experience! Maybe give them another shot, I’m sure they ‘miss you’ 😂

It is, isn’t it? We’ve had 40 boxes and didn’t pay full price once 😂😂

I’ll check Gousto out again 👀 Thanks!

We’ve been doing this since November… never paid full price for a box. Also, any issues and they immediately give you money back 🤣
