I have a very similar story as do all my friends and family of around my age looking back on the 70s and 80s. It really pisses me off when people make a judgement today about something that happened back then. We are talking 40 years ago, things we’re different. Not saying things were better, not at all, but I and my girlfriends did and accepted things back then, rightly or wrongly. I went into many pubs/clubs underaged. No one checked our ages, if we looked 18 that was good enough. A little makeup usually did the trick. We all drank to excess and then drove home. We all hitchhiked and got into strangers cars and went back to their house. If the guy was cute, we jumped in there, no worries. I could go on and on. All I’m saying is we need to put things into perspective. But PA wasMakes me laugh when people mention the legal age for this and that.... and that 17 is very young....here's my story.. Back in the 80's My on again off again boyfriend was 27 and owned a local night club... I was the barmaid.. we would have under cover detectives come in quite often checking for under age drinkers,,, some would even ask me out when I served them their drinks... I would politely say No I had a boyfriend... because I couldn't tell them the real reason... I was 15 years old... I could walk in to any nightclub pub bar or private casino walk up to the bar and buy a drink which was usually paid for by some bloke at the bar at the time... I could sit playing cards at a private club sipping expensive cocktails paid for by some one who had invited me to go with them... and not once was I ever asked for proof of age... My boyfriend knew I was only 15 years old ... was that abuse??? No I knew exactly what I was doing.... it was a thrill for me to get away with what I knew was wrong according to the law..lol I knew how to dress and act so no one ever suspected I was under age... Monday to Friday I was in high school but when the week end came it was party time...lol
