Superb episode.
They set it up and ramped the tension to perfection.
Loved the haircut scene - paid with tins of tuna - nice touch.
Enjoyed Alison helping Catherine and Catherine’s casual description of her as a murderer - of her own son.
Court room scene and Ryan’s face - brilliant.
Bit pissed off with Ann and her clever-dick questioning if Catherine. Get over yourself love.
Loving that people who’d been arrested by Catherine were lining up to give money for her retirement.
Very worried now about a retirement party.
It’s terrifying that TLR is on the loose.

There’s poor Alison, working in the dark replacing an alternator, probably as a favour , and she was given a cup of tea with even a chocolate digestive. Ryan is still playing his cards close to his chest isn't he. Is he just trying to work things out for himself or is he up to something. Tommy assumes he will be impressed by his courtroom antics, but I think Ryan is much more savvy than everyone thinks

Urgh what an icky twist about Rob being Joanna's teacher. And how is he still teaching after that??

I thought the writing (and obviously the acting) last night was sublime in the scenes with Catherine & Clare in the cafe and then Catherine & Ryan in the doorstep. Ryan mentioning his tea was getting cold and Catherine dismissing it because it was only stew! I’m definitely going to rewatch it. Sarah Lancashire deserves every accolade going.

I loved that bit, What you having, stew, it’ll be fine. Just little bits like that make it seem very “real life”
Im turning into such a Sarah Lancashire fan girl, she is a million miles away from Racquel in Corrie !!

Catherine's school visit was excellent. I think this episode was laying the groundwork for something to push on next episode with the pharmacist etc.

I am convinced Chekov's clutch will rear it's head yet, been mentioned twice so far

Didn’t realise there was a thread for happy valley!! Did anyone else rewatch the first two series before this third one? I had forgotten quite a bit as it was so long ago. But my god did I enjoy rewatching it. Catherine has to be one of the best written female characters on tv. I’ll be devastated when it ends.

Also glad they didn’t spend anytime following Faisal during that episode, it was better that they took the missing person angle to build tension rather than us having to watch him stumbling around like an oaf during the clean up, and it’ll be interesting to see what Rob does now he’s discovered the body.
