she literally admitted to trying to get a free mattress sponsor in her last video but they wouldn't give her one...
this feels like a push to get more patreon subscribers not a genuine ick over sponsorships
Yep even though she also said she could afford one 🤬 WTF do they think they are?

Yeah the entitlement is off the charts. People like Hannah live in a bubble and have forgotten the meaning of real work (many of them never knew it to begin with).

Bring on the downfall of the influencer lifestyle, it’s coming.

I can't believe she is not mortified to admit this. I'm in a few local community groups giving away free things and often it's people asking who have lost their jobs/fled domestic violence situations and are desperate for matresses/furniture etc. In every situation the people asking are apologetic and embarrassed to ask for handouts, these are people in need who feel embarrassed to ask for help. Meanwhile influencers with money have no qualms about it. What a ridiculous situation

Exactly. The fact she sat there saying she could easily afford a new mattress but wanted one for free 🤬 sorry, she can get in the bin.

And now she’s butt hurt when someone fairly points out that her content has no real point and is all over the place. I think she’s annoyed because she knows it’s true and it is true for most “lifestyle content” creators. It adds little value, she herself compares it to reality TV.. so mind numbing, lazy content that’s just vehicle for advertising. But how dare a viewer call it out for what it is!!

I don't find this message rude at all. But we all know influencers can't take any kind of feedback on board. Normal 9-6 jobs will have annual if not multiple times a year performance reviews, these influencers would not stand a chance

I think they made a fair point. I quite like some lifestyle content but don't click on everything. I've no interest in someone banging on about how organised they are and how they use basic spreadsheets or a calendar. But I do enjoy decorating content. The shorts/ reels don't interest me and I don't really get the short form stuff but I'm sure others love it.

I don't know why her only channel is still called 'More Hannah'.

Her content is just her doing what she is going to do anyway and pretending it's a video topic. Which would be interesting if she was actually doing something meaningful and could tone down her type A personality.

The meta around her job is not her being transparent or trying to teach others how to have a youtube career, it's the only thing she has going on that seperates her from others and she is constantly repeating herself.

I know being a mother can make it hard to have a life of your own, I just wish she'd put the camera down and apply for an part-time office job. (Literally wrote the same thing in the Lucy thread. Not surprising that Leena is the only one who is able to cope with this type of job because she really thought it through and puts in the whole effort of a real job, unlike Hannah and Lucy).

Exactly you put it so well. I've been trying to say the same about other influencers. When your life IS the content I guess things get a bit weird.

I think the DM had a point, some of her content just seems thrown together. I also find her tone quite patronizing a lot of the time.
I understand that she went through a massive life change becoming a mum and needed to divert but I think she’s a bit lost. Which is also fine.

It’s ok for her audience to point it out too, I mean sure she doesn’t want people to just blithely follow her? Or perhaps she does, shut up and subscribe to my patreon etc… it’s all a bit tired

What an arrogant a she has proven to be.

She was genuinely taken aback to receive that DM. The heart bleeds.

It’s not rude. It’s a Straight forward statement/question from her audience, ya know, the ones that pay the bills!! Without them there are no brand deals. When will influencers actually accept this? They all get upset and call troll 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️. This is her job. Also the person who wrote this is 100% correct. WTF is Hannah putting out? Without her sex Ed ( and tbh I’m not sure a lot of that was any good imo ) what does she have to offer? She needs to find one thing and stick to it. Her fashion sense is bizarre , her interiors are 😳. When she has done the odd really normal day in the life style vlogs they have been fine. it’s the mad jumping all over the show that’s off putting.

It does feel like the old "brit" crew are totally lost and floundering with their content to keep up. I know Hannah wasn't a part of the official Brit crew but I kind of lump her together with Dodie, Lucy Moon, Niomi Smart (she's a different kettle of fish...).
But they're all struggling to keep up with how social media has changed, even though it's their 'job'

I really thought Hannah was one of the better ones but whining about doing ads, begging for freebies and her poor response to valid criticism has put her down in my estimations.

I don't really touch YouTube nowadays, it seems to have gone downhill massively.

Ever since she quit the sex ed stuff, I've really felt like she's foundering, no idea what she actually does or wants to do, she's just throwing together something, anything, to keep a channel going. When it was actually more Hannah, when it was a random (money-spinning) side channel, bonus videos, it made sense, but now it's her one and only thing, it's just like throwing tit at a wall and seeing what sticks.

The "I'm not sure what I can expect from you anymore" is so true. She had a good niche with the sex and relationships stuff.

I think that message highlights the difference between YouTube creator expectations 10 years ago and viewer expectations now. Between 2008-2018 the platform was so much less saturation you could gain a following relatively fast and glide by with whatever tit you felt like posting as long as people liked your vibe. Loads of people did it.

I think audiences now are much more time savvy and want more than just personality from content creators. I would hazard to say a formula might be;
Find a specific content niche nobody else is offering > produce high quality, consistent content in that niche alone > have a sort of charming vibe. In that order. It’s about actually providing value consistently before anything else.

That DM was saying essentially that, in actually very polite rewording. It basically said ‘’Find something specific and stick to it. Your personality isn’t doing it anymore.’’ Lol. Hannah just doesn’t like the feedback because she knows it’s true.

*editing to add I actually think this formula has always been the case, lots of the early YT crowd had a constant niche and that was the core of their success. And time and time again we’ve watched people drop their niche because they were bored of it and then just plummet. Emma Blackery comes to mind. Absolute flailing and still at it lol.

I was excited when she announced she was moving on from the sex content, it seemed like she had a plan and I've always thought she was great at creating other interesting content around organisation etc. However I now rarely watch her YouTube, her content is all over the place, and her short form videos are so cringe.

She should lean in to the analytics side of things, I found it really interesting to see the behind the scenes of the viral soap video!

There’s interesting, entertaining lifestyle content and then there’s Hannah clearing out her old pants on camera…

Yeah it’s interesting you make this comparison. It’s a bit like with Louise Pentland, who seemed to start floundering after she had her second child. Said she wanted to break away from her fluffy, frilly, girly girl stuff and wanted to talk about sex and start swearing. Lasted one video before she went back to being all saccharine yummy mummy stage mom who’s similarly quite beggy for brand deals despite having rental properties and a lot more money than her audience for sure.

It does seem to be hard to be an influencer, I’m sure the comments are overwhelming and would make you get in your head about how to do things. But it’s been obvious this change has not gone as well as Hannah expected. I also found her whole “it’s wrong for my audience to expect me to bare all about my fertility struggles …” when she has
Made videos about it and arguably it would be interesting for her audience.

instead she rip offs of Leena Norms content last year without any practical application. Leena’s sustainable fashion series makes sense, she’s gone from second hand clothes shopping, to mending clothes and then now to the no buy year challenge. It’s actually quite interesting, as a sewist I wish she would do more content about that. Whereas Hannah’s “get ready with me for hypothetical occasions” is just tired and boring.
