She talks a lot about career transition and behind the scenes of content creation, but does anybody actually cares about this... like who thinks "I really want to watch a video on how a stranger switched career from content creation to slightly different content creation"

I was just thinking this. Even when she’s not making a video specifically about it, she often mentions her career transition and things associated with it and I’m just not bothered? It’s like she doesn’t have the confidence to say this is what I’m doing now, I’ll just get on with it. I’m happy to watch random content about someone’s life or interests, I’m less happy to hear all about their career issues as it then becomes less escapist for me.

I thought it was embarrassing when I saw Leena’s video and then I saw Hannah was doing the same thing. I knew they’d end up going, but I struggle to feel happy for them because they live such blessed lives already in comparison to most. Leena’s now made a reel saying this is your sign to make the outfit for the party you’re not invited to, but in most situations when we’re truly left out or lonely, planning the outfit won’t manifest the desired outcome. In fact, it could make you feel more lonely. Sending positivity to all those who will struggle to afford a regular cinema ticket to see the film, even though the musical means a lot to them too.

Not to derail Hannah's thread but I used to really like Leena, I thought she was different (lol), but the vlog she did a few months ago showing the minimal work she spins out in a week and now the beggy posts about going to the Wicked premier have really made me change my views. Agreed, I’m very happy for her on this. I didn’t realise quite how tough the whole IVF process was until watching her videos.

I watched her latest video in which she had been given a Gregg's package. Was anyone else annoyed that she didn't even bother giving stuff away or putting it jn thr freezer and clearly just threw lots of it away? Companies giving these infleucners things (especially food when so many people are now having so much difficulty affording it)drives me insane

That new video is really annoying. You can blur your kids face all you like but you’re showing him still in a dress and getting upset. As we know her husband’s sister it’s fairly safe to assume her husband has the same last name as him. So we know the kids first name and probably last name too. And you’re showing videos of him getting upset online. It might seem small and insignificant but 1. Kids don’t need anymore ammunition to bully 2. The kid just deserves some privacy.

Plus there are some sick people out there who can use software to unblurr it and doing very odd things with the footage! The safest thing to do, is not ever film them!

Meanwhile, I'm in my (bigger than her) flat saying no to getting a second cat because I'm worried there isn't enough space for two lol

I have a 3 bed terrace, 2 kids and a dog. It's tight

TBF their flat has 2 full size bathrooms, and the bedrooms are alright sizes. And they had Rowan in with them for almost 2 years, so I imagine they have a timer on for that long and will then do bunk beds if they still haven't been able to move out.

It's probably Hannahs lack of job that is stopping them getting a bigger mortgage

She doesn't know as much about books as she think she does eg. Brandon Sanderson has a huge back catalogue not just Mistborn & Stormlight

I also don't get why she portrays herself as someone who loves space but knows 0 about real life space and astrophysics

I've watched a couple of her Vlognakuh videos, the one that's behind the scenes and the one year on video and both of them she's really hanging on the point about trying to conceive being the one reason that this year has been bad work wise. She's brought it up constantly and consistently in all her videos. She was TTC for a year with Rowan so she's on a similar timeline for the second. No idea why she's so much more impatient. Why can't she just embrace the family dynamic she has or will have (whatever the age gap) and not keep pinning them on "this is what I had, so this is what I want". What if there's something better than what you had?!

Ngl I thought we’d find out at the end of her video today and the fact it was left on a cliffhanger felt really manipulative even though I know its better for views and is a you tube / tv thing to do !

I do wish her the best and I think this is a good sign but i was so expecting to find out based on the video and soemone saying thered be an annoucment in the live chat at the end of the video

Feel a bit bad for her when she acts like a data analysis girl boss with her year 6 homework graphs. Doing a fake presentation about thumbnails in her living room and pretending it’s deeply interesting. Even her Subscribers are commenting on this vid to gently suggest these numbers are massively warped and meaningless due to early sub clicks.

I’m not a data person by any means but I have to demonstrate outcomes for work occasionally so I’ve skimmed a couple of books on data presentation. And like… the only real rules are 1. use meaningful data and 2. don’t use pie charts. Meanwhile Hannah’s whole shtick is putting useless stats into the same useless visual.

BTW I can’t emphasise enough, it’s not that deep to me - I work in the arts lol so explicitly not a science wizz. But Hannah’s whole thing is that she looooves the numbers and audience analysis. It’s soooo nerdy!! She’s such a type A girly!!

The social media career path has obviously paid off financially but I think there’s been a massive opportunity cost of a more typical, more dignified career where she could have used her brain more (assume she was academic as a kid).

I think this is apparent in her constant over-emphasis on any aspect of content creation which legitimises it, usually by proximity to other professional areas - Eg stats, business management, academia, training courses. The same reason she makes networking events, branding, Patreon, statistics etc. into her public ‘’work identity’’.

She pretends those things are the substance of her career, when the real substance is what gets her views - talking about sex, exploiting her child and medical history, then to a lesser extent reading shit books and buying ugly charity shop clothes. That’s the dichotomy of her content…. super organised, high achieving personality but the videos are mostly mind numbing or sheer exploitation of her intimate life.

She genuinely seems highly unsatisfied with this line of work so dresses it up as best she can. IMO it’s also the same reason for the half arsed career change and all the stalling about decisions until she has another baby.

Totally agree with you. I think she is unhappy in this job, she is obviously clever and articulate, and could have done something much more intellectually stimulating.

She doesn’t present herself as an observant practising Jew so for me it’s in no way offensive. Not that it’s even my place to be offended at what other Jewish people (or anyone!) does with their life.

How much time has she got to kill that she's organising her books on her shelves in four different ways even when she knows from the start that three of them are not the way she wants?

Oh god just saw that short vid where she’s mapping out the friendships she wants for the whole family. Like granted yes it’s in a self deprecating ‘I’m unhinged’ way but Hannah this is actually very harmfulmicromanagement that will burn you out and leave you resentful.

It’s not just about introversion/extroversion. Sometimes people - often men - are just genuinely not socially motivated and don’t value the ‘village’. No amount of effort can change this because it’s a values difference.

I find it quite embarrassing for her that she hasn’t picked up on this and is approaching it like a puzzle to be solved. It’s just all extremely sad to me. She’s clearly quite isolated and doesn’t have the support she needs, but it saddens me to see her grasping at straws, acting as if it’s something she can work harder and achieve (its been 2 years so clearly not), and taking sole responsibility for it.

Do I like hearing that my friends are pregnant? Actually, I often don't. It makes me feel behind in life and a pregnancy announcement at the wrong time can make me feel shit for the rest of the day.

Am I going to tell that to them? To rain on their parade and tell them to be quiet because I'm having a bad day? No absolutely not, I keep it to myself because it's unhinged and selfish.

And the fact she aired that on a national podcast, one of the most popular ones in the UK!! Whoever said that to her is definitely going to know she's been slagging them off to the public!

It's prob just her 30s hormones and wanting another baby. You always want what you can't have. Logically it doesn't check out though and I'm sure she knows that deep down. I don't blame her for craving a sibling for Rowan but with everything she's shared another baby is not going to be a magic panacea

I love the way she starts with "I'm a content creator and also a mum but I don't really show my kid online". No, you don't show his face but his back has made into several videos, I've heard him babbling in several videos, you've told us about every time he's sick and what he eats and what he likes and he appears in at least three thumbnails over the last year or so. You've done at least five videos in the last year with "as a mum" in the title, two with "motherhood" and at least another eight that are about having a child in some way ("with my two-year-old", "with a baby", "motherhood" or "mum" in the thumbnail etc). You're this close to being a mommy vlogger but you think you're "better than that" because you used to be organised and have a work ethic.

Exactly, showing a picture is much less invasive (albeit I still don't think content creators should) than the personal details she does share
