I still don't understand why not being able to have another baby would be "devastating" when she already has one
I think this is a bit of a shortsighted take... I don't have any kids nor do I particularly want any but I can understand why having to say goodbye to the future you'd planned with a larger family would be really upsetting
I'm more shocked about how candidly she talked about this possibility. Tucked between "i'm a small business owner" and forced hospital selfies. Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely her right to talk about her health, just the presentation of it all is so weird?
Yeah I thought this was bizarre. Like she'd planned out this "little wins" series and then just shoehorned this in?

Oh, Hannah gives us a lovely breakdown of her income every year and I do some (probably wildly inaccurate) sums using her Patreon numbers - inaccurate hopefully because over the last three years, depending on how many Patreons are paying max vs min, it's coming out as anything from £12,500 a month all the way up to £103K a month.

I have severe PCOS and have spent years figuring this all out and getting my hormones back on track. Mainly I managed through diet, exercise and supplementation which all came from my own research into the huge amount of evidence out there. I went from cycle lengths similar to hers, to a regular 30ish day cycle and semi-regular ovulation. This was mainly through blood sugar management with diet and exercise. Slouching around all day eating 10 ham sandwiches is not exactly conducive to fixing her insulin resistance, even if she’s prescribed metformin.

She admitted herself that when she conceived Rowan she was in the best physical shape she’s ever been in, noted that it wasn’t a coincidence, then talked herself out of it because she didn’t want to fixate on exercise. As somebody who also recovered from a major eating disorder I’m fairly impatient with non-disordered women like Hannah pretending they’re somehow vulnerable to disordered behaviours when they’re simply not. It’s an insulting misunderstanding of a mental health issue she doesn’t have - most people are able to change their diet and become more active without any issue.
Kind of related to your comment, I found it really frustrating to listen to her comments about that book she read for that award, A Better Second Half. She kept saying she wasn't the target audience because she wasn't interested in "optimising every aspect of her health" and "only thinking about what an individual can do for their health, and not the failings of the system as a whole" and how Liz Earle didn't mention how things like chronic illness or disability or poverty can affect someone's ability to do all those things, and how expensive it would be to follow every recommendation in the book.

I don't know why it rubbed me the wrong way so much I just felt like Hannah must have some really black and white thinking, like if you try to better your health you must be going over and optimising every tiny thing. Or if you read a book like that you have to do every single thing in it, and you can't just take what works for you.

I think Hannah just doesn't want to acknowledge that she could probably make some better choices with regard to her health, she seems to think that any effort to do so would be putting her on a pathway to overdoing it, getting an eating disorder and becoming fatphobic. You can be actively trying to improve your health and your weight without it becoming a negative thing in your life!

There was a comment in the old thread (I think?) questioning why she just let her big main channel go dormant. I took a peek at the subscriber numbers and she significantly (!!!) more subscribers on the main channel. Why is she posting on the alt channel? Surely the original channel could have handled the pivot in content, alot of creators pivot?? Surely it would address the revenue issue????
Her main channel also comes up first in the search whenever you look for her. You go on the channel and then see it hasn't been active in over a year.

No idea why she would throw away a successful channel. It makes no business sense whatsoever.

Saw a clip of her on instagram on Giovanna Fletchers podcast about how she got annoyed with a friend who dared mention about someone else being pregnant later even though Hannah had told her earlier that she was going through IVF

I can't imagine being so self centered that you would think no one else can share happy news, she must be very difficult to be friends with. Would be completely different if she had shared she had had a miscarriage or something rather than just starting IVF. Similarly, maybe her talking about IVF is triggering for people who can't afford it or it didn't work for them.

Always very brave of YouTubers with more income than the average pleb to announce that they’re worried about their income because of their own decision to cut back on what they make.
I always hate this, anyone who cut back on work hours would take a pay cut (and usually ina. Job much less well paid for more work as well) . Infleuncers moaning like this drives me mad tbh. I'm not subscribed to her anymore but this would have made me unsubscribe

I just watched her vegetarian video and the gusto section was infuriating. I’m not a picky eater so I don’t fully get where she is coming from tbh, but I understand hating mushrooms, disliking chunky veg. But then it also had to be under 30mins, and half the ones that fit all her criteria she called “too boring”? Like c’mon now. If you hate the majority of vegetables and don’t want to spend any time cooking, you CANNOT complain that the remaining recipes are boring.
It’s giving spoilt child vibes! What does she expect to teach her son as well? Just eat what you like? It’s all an oxymoron imo

In her latest video, I feel like she’s brainstorming out loud about her career and next steps, and that’s just really boring to listen to. It’s like being in my own head (even down to the accent), and isn’t what I watch YouTube for. I’ve stopped the video 14 minutes in, because it’s actually stressful.

It’s also difficult when she mentions not having got pregnant yet so many times. I know it’s a big deal when you’re living it, and I know that secondary infertility can be hard to go through, but as someone who will likely never be able to get pregnant, it’s hard hearing that all the time. It’s probably down to me to just stop watching, but I feel like we’re thin on the ground in terms of YouTube women in their 30s who aren’t either raising a family or talking about trying for one.

These days, I'd definitely say "works" 20 hours a week - there's a fuckton of stuff she seems to consider work that might technically be work for her but for the rest of us, doing a paint by numbers or reading a book definitely isn't work.

Number two was: instead of bringing it up, "you can always just ask someone else first". Why don't you just casually say "Oh, are you and so-and-so thinking about having kids?" Hasn't the internet - and Hannah herself - spent the last decade being very vocal about how you don't ask people questions like that?? At that point, I screeched "Hannah, what the fuck??" and turned the video off. She'd be the first person to throw a tantrum if anyone, even a friend, asked her such a sensitive question and here she is recommending it!

Haaaa I thought this about number two!! I was like "really?!" Also she openly admits that she wants the baby more than Dan. I feel like she's chasing a dream that she convinced herself she wanted, "married, two kids, two years apart". For a woman who is trying to be so edgy and go against the hetero-normative grain, she's following that playbook

Thought after 60 pages she needed a new thread.

Another baby will make everything infinitely worse. I think she’s severely underestimating how big the jump from one child to two is, particularly in a small flat, with a checked-out spouse and no access to maternity leave.

Her income has declined significantly, so the pressure will be on Dan to be the sole financial provider. And I very much doubt she’ll be interested in dropping childcare to stay at home full time with two small kids - she likes her daytime cinema trips, restaurant lunches, massages and tennis lessons too much!

I chuckle at how at odds it all is with her feminist facade.
I just don’t know how or why they would want to bring a second child into their lives when they aren’t even content with the life they have with one child.
Even if you ignore the glaringly obvious marital issues, financial issues and personality issues. Practically That flat is too small for two small children!

Gender inequality raises fundamentally with the birth of a second child. If she is struggling now with her role, it's going to get worse. It's a systematic problem, she is not really prepared to handle it on an individual level. I still think she is really lost with her life direction and that's why she is so focussed on conceiving again.

Very mixed feelings about her 'I tried being vegetarian for a month' video. As a vegan, I think it's great when people give veganism/vegetarian a go! But there was just something so childish about the whole video. She is fussier than a child! And she is also SO lazy...yes, we get that you have a kid, but that doesn't mean that the only meals that you cook have to take 10 mins! Especially as she doesn't have a real job and is at home all the time anyway.

Sorry if this is rude, but just feel like her video was particularly immature and pathetic today!
I came here to say the same thing!
Fellow vegan+gf + chronically ill person here!

I didn't want to be that vegan because like you said: it's great when people try to eat less meat.
I'm all for people just trying to eat less meat but imo health comes first and I'm willing to understand going completely vegetarian or vegan is not for everyone.
This video just made me so so soooooo annoyed for some reason. She comes across as a very lazy person and an incredibly picky eater.
The "I don't like tofu" part made me roll my eyes so hard and imo she can just leave raisins (and sometimes nuts) out of some of those dishes.

Tbf I also woke up in a bad mood today so maybe this post isn't the best review 👻

EDIT to add: I think it's normal when you go vegetarian/vegan to feel hungry. I remember wanting more snacks in the beginning of going vegan. It helped to eat less processed meat substitutes and I think just over time you get used to your new diet. It bums me out she didn't realize that could happen. Doesn't everyone know that when you change your diet, your body might react different to the diet?

Yes, this! I always used to think Hannah was just about the only YouTuber/influencer out there who had any kind of work ethic, back when she used to put out one main channel and one side channel video a week plus a new podcast, and she'd pre-film so if she went on holiday or took Christmas off, you couldn't really tell. Ever since she had a baby, she's just making whatever she can scrape out of the bottom of the barrel for the side channel (ham sandwiches, come on), changes her "I'm Hannah and I make videos about..." every single time because she has no actual idea what she makes videos about anymore and is living off her reputation as someone who puts thoughtful effort in when she hasn't done that for years. It's like when you look up bullet journals and discover the only people maximising their productivity with specialist journals and tools etc are people who don't actually seem to produce anything. "Get up 5am for exercise and acid water and soggy uncooked porridge. 9am colour in my reading tracker. 11am draw some boxes to colour in my mood every day. 10pm so tired after a long day of not doing anything, write down bedtime in journal".
Exactly! If she’s so nerdy and conscious about content creation I wonder why she hasn’t addressed this phenomenon which I’ve seen discussed a bit online. I mean I know why - because it would shatter the lie she soothes her ego with.

Scheduling family stuff, having goals and friendships, family planning, buying second hand clothes and reading books is extremely mundane life for most of us that we squeeze around an actual job. I do wonder about her friendships with normal people eg other parents. And what they must think of her nonsense. If one of my mates was filming herself doing all the stuff I do outside of work, as the work itself AND pretending it’s a super-duper-clever-person job I’d be miffed. Like babe… you’re trying on depop skirts in your living room. Nothing ground breaking is happening here 😅

My shite content, atrocious sense of style … and having a child ruined my YouTube channel
I wanted to expand on the "having a child ruined my YouTube channel" because in that video she did with the other YouTuber, they discussed how the male YouTuber's channel took off while her income "massively reduced" post-birth, and I was intrigued by this point so I took a peek at her financial statements. I'm specifically looking at the movements in capital levels (assets less liabilities) as a proxy for income levels.

2021: £143,249
2022 (birth): £194,640
2023: £162,257
2024: £162,864

I think that illustrates her point pretty well. Growth prior to birth and then massive drop/stagnation.

What a bizarre way to say “I had a check up about my health and it’s kinda nerve wracking because the results will decide if I’m gonna have another baby or not. So hopefully it goes well”

Why did she have to do the whole “🤪✌🏻😅 little wins!! 🤪💩” sctick?

It doesn’t even make sense - it’s a series about the small accomplishments you have? But in the video nothing was really accomplished other than she went to her appointment. And she mostly just talked about the process and what it means for her family planning.

I wish she’d just be candid and say how she feels without having to do the millennial goofball face all the time.

It was in one of her TTC videos where she was shocked that you could only get pregnant in a certain window of your cycle, ovulation. And then said “oh and there’s other phases of the cycle that the doctor mentioned but I can’t even remember them. So much more complicated than I thought”

And I was like … weren’t you claiming to be an educator on sexual health and expression? How can you not know this?

It’s follicular, ovulation, luteal and menstrual. Not that hard, Hannah.
You've just reminded me of that whole section of one of her early trying to conceive videos where she was using the ovulation tests wrong because she hadn't bothered to read the instructions. Like surely if you buy something like that you would read the instructions?
