I don’t like her but I still think she had to do what she done
Really? What, getting some idiot to murder her mum?
She could have called social services and asked for help, she could have literally just walked out of the house and made a life for herself, she could have contacted a woman's refuge or contacted a charity for children who are victims of abuse.
But no, she got her mum killed. Of course her mum was abusive, she was also pretty ducked up, she didn't deserve a death sentence.

When I first read about this case my heart broke for Gypsy, but having watched multiple documentaries and listened to multiple part
Podcast deep dives I feel differently. Like you say, she could have just left. She was in contact with multiple men online, she could have asked any of them to pick her up. She ran away previously but came back. She had extended family plus her father who she could have contacted. And she clearly does have some of the conditions Dee Dee said she had, it’s obvious from looking at her and apart from that the doctors wouldn’t have performed surgeries and so on if there was no medical reason to do so, so while I do think Dee Dee was obviously exaggerating it all and was a grifter and getting as much out of it as she could (her own parents were like this too) it’s definitely not as clear cut munchausens as it initially seemed and Gypsy certainly had options available if she wanted out.

If you listen to the whole story...not just her version of it, there were times she could have told someone. She was online constantly and if she could arrange booty calls without Dee knowing, I'm fairly sure she would have been able to get it out there what was going on to the police or even neighbours who admitted they had suspicions that something wasn't quite right with the setup. She could even have got in touch with her dad and explained who Dee had stopped her from seeing.

I kind of get where she is coming from because while not the same, I went through something where I wish I could kill my abuser and often went into great detail about what I would do to him but realised if I did it, I would spend most if not the rest of my life in prison. It might suck but there are always choices and maybe if she had done it herself, she would have got away with self-defence when the truth was revealed. It's the fact that she got someone with autism and a double-digit IQ to do it for her after trying to get others who said no, then trying to throw him under the bus when found out by claiming it had nothing to do with her when she was the one who produced the plan and told him exactly what to do, even doing a video with a knife in her hand showing him how to stab Dee when he got in the bedroom that had people losing any sympathy they had for her.

I think it is absolutely a case of Munchausens or Factitious Disorder Syndrome as it's called these days, I've not seen anything to confirm GRB had any genuine medical conditions, doctors just believed what DeeDee told them - she was clearly influenced by DeeDee but she was free to contact others if she wanted to, she didn't need to get someone to kill her mother to escape from that situation.

If there were any opportunities to sue for medical malpractice then lawyers would have been all over that and they aren't, nobody wants to take it on, so that does seem to suggest that the surgeries were necessary and not a product of her mother having munchausens.

II'm not saying that her mother didn't make out Gypsy was sicker than she was, she clearly did to get money, housing, holidays, sympathy etc but nobody deserves to die such a horrific death as DeeDee did. That was not the only way out for Gypsy, she could have stopped going along with the grift. She could have walked both physically and metaphorically. Murder was not the answer and she certainly shouldn't be famous and lauded for it either.

Part of me believes she should be back in prison as she got parole because she fooled many into thinking she had atoned and changed. However, the minute she was in the clear, she was trying to pin everything on Nick again, acting as if it had all been down to him and she hadn't done anything wrong.

Is saying she could’ve done xyz not the equivalent of saying to a woman in a violent relationship “just leave”

Yes, she had been conditioned and controlled her whole life. I’m not condoning what happened and I think she certainly needed consequences for her actions but the person she is was definitely moulded by her abusive mother.

You're right.... It easy for us to say she should have done this or that..... But I personally still don't think she should be praised and celebrated for murdering her mother.

No not at all. It’s the equivalent of saying, ‘Finding a safe way to leave is preferable to persuading someone to help you brutally murder your abuser and then spending a good chunk of your life in prison.’

respectfully I have to disagree. Abuse does awful things to your brain.

I agree, I cannot stand in judgement of why she killed mother and didn't see any other way out.
I'm very bothered though that she is now a 'celebrity' with her own tv show when she should be leading a quiet life away from public scrutiny. Those close to her are letting her down badly. She should be getting therapy and sorting her life out with help from others as she's never 'lived' before, going from her mothers abuse into the prison system.

Undoubtedly.

Apparently it made Gypsy, whilst not the actual murderer, calculated enough to encourage an intellectually challenged young man to do the dreadful deed with instructions as to how he should do it, which I believe is what happened in this instance.

Her subsequent behaviour since leaving prison has enforced my belief that she is , to put it mildly, not a very nice person.

Early childhood trauma changes how the brain develops. I’m not condoning her behaviour and actions but I understand that anybody being raised the way she did is going to have a very skewed view of the world and is not going to react in the same way others would expect her to.

I am horrified at the circus that has followed her release from custody. She really does need intense therapy and someone to look out for her but sadly she doesn’t seem to have that. She needs some positive role modelling to help her to learn how to parent her own child now or I dread to imagine what life that baby will have.

After trying to get others to do it for her. There was a reason she picked Nick which shows she is just as calculating as her mother was to me.

Can we all say for certain we wouldn’t be/say/do ducked up things after abuse that bad, she was given medication that could’ve literally altered her psyche. I’ve experienced abuse and it changes you when you’re in it. You think desperate things.

I do however agree that this launch into publicity isn’t going to be helpful for her and she needs intense therapy and to lead a normal life to recover.

I've just watched the latest episode and I honestly can't see where this is going for TLC. It's hardly gripping TV, let's follow Gypsy round a sex shop 🙄 while she talks about how sexually inexperienced she is but how she's way more sexually adventurous than Ken or any other girlfriend he's had. Yeah right, as if he's gonna dare say my ex was hotter in bed than you 🤦🏻‍♀️.

They stretched out how to collapse a pushchair and then put it back up again whilst Kristy continually called Ken a son of a b*itch for being able to do it.

..... And seriously how many times do we need to see Ryan moping around, whilst cutting back to Gypsy to slate him some more.

So glad I don't pay to watch it and by finding it for free in the bowels of the internet I'm not adding to the viewing figures either. If TLC manage to get another series out of this then I dread to think what it's going to consist of.
