At the time, i loved John Whaite.

Can't stand him now, but in his bake off days he was the perfect combo of nice and funny guy with great skills. His book was good too

I also really liked Lottie for her dry sarcastic humour.

Peter and James (two Scottish contestants) were also good

I LOVED James the doctor in John Waite's year. He was the spitting image of my boyfriend at the time (who sadly passed away) and whenver I see a clip I get a bit emosh as my then boyfriend was the loveliest man imaginable and is so very missed.

Nellie was pure joy and I loved her just for that. She was bottled sunshine.
Jurgen for his deadpan hilarity and humble manner.
Natalia from this series had the most natural, infectious smile.
Kim-Joy was sweef AF and such a gentle, fun baker.
The zany female Halloween baker was utterly bonkers and made me laugh a lot.
Quiet Rahul, his awkwardness and his oddly unexpected friendship which continued with Noel after the series ended and still to this day made me want to bring him home and introduce him slowly to the world.

There will be loads more that I've forgotten.

Nellie! That was her name! I loved her. I used to follow her on insta but she doesn’t seem to post there anymore

I also love Yan, she was the scientist who was very methodical with her bakes.
I loved this bake of hers:

Another tree from Jasmine? Hasn't she made about three variations of a tree for her showstopper now?! She probably should win because her consistency is amazing, but I personally prefer the more chaotic, risk-taking bakers.

I caught up last night, and so glad it wasn’t just me who got to the end and thought Paul had been mean.

Absolutely.. she could at least have set the oven at the wrong temperature, too hot as against not hot enough 😉

I caught up last night and actually I do think Paul had a point about Tom’s beehive even if he was too harsh. To me it looked like this huge chocolate structure was the main bit and the macarons were just randomly stuck on there? I know the others all used biscuit but the macarons felt more like the main focus

I don’t mind Aaron but I think it should have been him and not Toby. I guess the technical probably came into it?

I agree. If he had covered it completely he may have got away with it. But it looked like a chocolate challenge with macarons added for decoration

I do agree about Tom’s showstopper but the criticism could have been given in a more constructive way, Paul just went for him

I liked Kate Lyon but she seems to have disappeared into thin air. She was doing a baby thing in 2022 but the link to the site doesn’t work anymore.
