His when they mean he's makes me shudder

When I see that I wonder how they'd spell she's. It's a riddle wrapped in an enigma.

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before...however when people say "pacifically" instead of "specifically" it really gets on my bloody nerves! It makes me want to SCREAM!

I've noticed how the British language is slowly becoming more Americanised too! There appears to be a cultural shift... Could this be down to Tik Tok culture?
When you overhear the following in conversation:

Literally
Same
Same Same!
Totally
What the actual?
Are you kidding me?

It's almost as though people are becoming lazy with their language?

"Snickers" instead of "Sniggers" (when someone is chuckling)

"For all intensive purposes" instead of "For all intents and purposes"

I still don’t understand apostrophes (and I’m in my mid 30’s)

Someone please teach me….. ?

I completed a medical transcription course a few years ago and our tutor was American. Some things she got so, so wrong! For example: she said that if you were writing about "seashells," you must put an apostrophe between the last 'l' and the 's' (to make it "seashell's") so people knew what you meant. Ummm - NO! Doing so would mean that you were suggesting that the ' was replacing the word 'is' in this case. I argued with her until I was blue in the face, and she ended up giving me a poor grade on that particular paper! (I challenged it and won).

This might already have been mentioned, but the use of ‘his’ instead of ‘he’s’

I follow someone on insta who does this constantly, in fact all her grammar is terrible, it drives me insane!

Another one I noticed today - ‘que’ or ‘queue’ instead of ‘cue’.

Someone I work with always writes ‘please accept my apologises’ on emails. I’m not sure if she realises she’s written apologies incorrectly or has typed it so many times it’s now like muscle memory.

My pet peeve is this trend of joining words together eg eachother, abit, ofcourse.

Also using breath instead of breathe eg ‘I am struggling to breath‘

I am on quite a lot of parent groups for special needs children. Quite often respite is talked about.....or maybe rest bite? What on earth do they think rest bite is???

A rest bite would be a good term for a break with a sit down and a snack .

What!! Sentences don’t always make sense without the Oxford comma. It’s neeeeded

There’s a bar I follow on Instagram and one of their hashtags is #RudeNotToo. My fingers hover tremulously over the keypad whenever I see it, but I’m too much of a confrontation-phobe to correct them.
