I was just reading Jack Edwards' thread where he also had a PR fluff piece published by The Times. It's actually depressing (and worrying) how easily these 'journalists' can be bought.
The times especially is awful for this, so many of the articles in the magazine are clearly just about friends of the journalist

This article was clearly written by an idiot who has no concept of irony lmao. Mentioning her £12k per term school fees followed by “my parents would never help me out with money I’m just independent”

also people don’t call you an influencer because you’re a woman, it’s because you do #ads for hairdressers and skincare brands and those ridiculous light up masks every other day

Bye I was listening to one of her podcast episodes (literally only because my fav tara swart was on it) and grace mentioned how she paid £300 for her makeup to be done for today ir this podcast session

i immediately was like 😑🫣 bc this girl really tries to come across as the peoples princess, trying to be so relatable and I hate that her fans see right through it

there is nothing wrong w spending your money but when you’re grace who acts like she started from nothing and has struggled so much in her business and ventures, it’s the little things like this that truly illuminate how distant she is from her fans and how she’s not the same as us peasants

Also just listening to that podcast and hearing grace constantly mention how she basically was a voice for her generation was simply laughable bc she seemingly is better with not being on her phone as much lol!!!

Also the amount of times she referred to herself as an ex fitness influencer

like no babes you’re still both no matter how bad you try to run away from it
You’ll always be an influenza like someone mentioned above bc you’re constantly #ad #gifted every single thing

(Particularly) for the POC readers on this thread - Vanessa Kingori's ep on Working Hard was really good!! Just finished watching. Grace talks a lot but Vanessa is so cool, smart, elegant, inspiring and beautiful.

On that note has anyone tried the free soul ones?
Personally, I wouldn’t give in to the hype - the FS ones are being pushed by almost everyone who’s received it for free, so they’re being heavily hyped, especially on TikTok. If you can find genuine reviews from people who’ve actually paid for it, that’s more reliable as it will be an honest opinion. It’s a greens powder with lots of plant ingredients, so it can help top up nutrients if you don’t eat many vegetables, but it’s worth remembering it’s a supplement, not a replacement for a healthy diet.

It might have been you, but I remember seeing someone else who’s a nutritionist on one of these threads saying a very similar thing. If you’re getting a halfway decent diet there’s no need to supplement with these powders, and if you are lacking in anything eg B12 for vegans, a regular vitamin pill from Boots is just as good. IMO they only make for very expensive wee.

It was more the "female" powders both Shreddy and FS so I was interested in

I was in Tala at Westfield yesterday with my 16 year old niece who is jumping on the bandwagon - the store was completely dead.

The sales associates were just standing around laughing at each other, randomly saying things like “don’t look at me” before breaking into yet more fits of giggles.

Very interesting stuff, thanks for posting

Revenue rose 12% Vs 9% for gymshark

Tala being valued at £40m is nothing to be sniffed at but when she started it 5-6 years ago I'm sure she would have expected more by now.
I think it's lost its way a bit it sells all sorts it should be tighter/streamlined

The thing is it doesn’t have an angle. It’s fast fashion, expensive and not inclusive. What’s the point?

She's just incapable of doing not doing anything tk make money, then framing it as "I could never find this.." when really it's just another pretty generic item available everywhere

I’m not a professional but a quick google of the ingredients of the Shreddy one would suggest not. The majority of the supplements (folate, selenium, vitamin D, chromium and zinc) ie those where the consumption of them is recommended through diet or supplementation, are available for waaaay cheaper in basic multivitamins.

The other supplements don’t seem to have any meaningful impact on “women’s” issues. It may be that they're understudied (which is a genuine problem when it comes to women generally, let alone when it’s a condition or disease that affects only women/people with wombs etc), but I can’t quickly spot professional recommendations for the other supplements. For example the Association of British Dieticians says there is insufficient evidence to support recommending supplementing Myo-Inositol for people with PCOS (https://www.bda.uk.com/resource/polycystic-ovary-syndrome-the-fundamentals.html), and CoQ10 is not recommended for combatting pre-eclampsia or subfertility amongst many other conditions (https://patient.info/doctor/cardiovascular-disease/coenzyme-q10) .

Because they’re not recommended supplements there’s no recommended daily allowance, but like with all of these supplements, if you’re eating a balanced diet you should be getting enough of them that you don’t need to supplement ie. the deficiency is not so major that it’s causing a disease and the only way to prevent/correct the disease is through supplementation.

So I’m going to stick with my usual assumption that they’ll make for very expensive wee and not much else.
