I don’t think they’re genuinely trying to end the show with the reduction in events or the Gladiator names; the latter is just not what we’ve been used to since the series began. Emperor is bad, but not as bad as Gold Star. The other two names I can live with. I’ve seen a pic of Gold Star and she’s got a skirt (think Netball attire) and plaited hair so I do think it’s more of a gimmick thing for younger views. Same with Huntress and her spear and Hammer’s…ahem, hammer.

I do think there’s a reason for the event reduction and I’d say it’s either because the episode length has been cut or to try and reduce Gladiator injuries/fatigue. If it is the former, then I don't see there being a reduction in interviews and such like. It does make me wonder, though, how they think the original Gladiators coped when they only had 12 Gladiators, only had six events per episode and in some events they were against both contenders - see Hang Tough, Danger Zone and Duel.

No Mark or Lee refereeing today. No Viper on any events yesterday either. It’s all a bit odd and perhaps too much change at once.

There’s also a new event called Plummet, but not sure what it involves yet.

Oh goodness yes that was on the Secret Celeb thread and everyone was thoroughly underwhelmed when it turned out the celeb in question was Apollo!

I thought it was, thank you! He's just not attractive or fit at all, and worse than Barney Woodentop Walsh for no personality. If I'd get rid of anyone, he'd be top pick for me.

Omg just found some pics, that whole show passed me by. I assumed Gladiators fluffed his hair up a bit as part of the character but looks like his hair always looked like that

OMG the Joe Marler thing looks all kinds of cringe.

I’m not against change - I am fine for bringing in new Gladiators and losing some of the existing ones - but losing an event per episode just isn’t worth it. It’s baffling that the 90s series used to film 6 events plus the Eliminator in a day and they can’t even manage that.

They also used to film 2 episodes a day!!!!

Weird tea about yesterday’s filming in that there was a Duel match between Sabre and Hurricane from American Gladiators. If true, wonder maybe something is coming up about cross-promoting the series to the UK audience via Prime.

My personal theory is that he a rude tattoo they are covering

Tbh I think the costume design people probably heard Hammer and thought of him as being like a Circus strongman, using a Hammer to hit one of those ' test my strength' machines, but the people who do intro graphics assumed he would be Thor. So his theme is a bit muddled.

Does he ever have his arms out on his personal page, can we see what tattoos are on them

I cannot stand him. He was abusive in his home, not physically to his wife, but he would go around the house smashing the place up, he was racist to a player calling him a slur, he was disgusting to an opponent calling his mum a whore. He is just a horrible human being, and I dont know why he is so celebrated.

He's managed to portray a teddy bear image from Traitors, especially after Nick fucked up in the final.

Cyclone has gone permanently. All traces of her as a gladiator removed from her social media pages.

So sad, as she was amazing on the show and so gorgeous and lovely when we met her.

I wondered if production was always planning on resting Athena and Bionic and possibly Comet this series , but having Fury about (like Nitro and Legend, because she’s v popular). Then due to Giant going, they decided on 4 new ones. Maybe Cyclone didn’t like the way they went about that (I think she’s pretty good friends with Bionic, going on holidays etc). Then Phantom has taken unexpected compassionate leave. So they’re 2 down in total numbers they weren’t planning on.

Looking at it all from what we know, I think this is probably how it panned out. I think they were always going to axe some Gladiators for new blood, but due to unforeseen issues with some of them (Fury, Cyclone, Phantom) they’ve ended up losing so many all at once. They’ve could’ve just kept Athena in the team as the female team is one down compared to the men. Oh well.

Yeah seems like she was dropped. Which is surprising as she was definitely a fan favourite.

Rumours are she left, wasn't axed. But who knows.

She was bloody amazing. And had the skills to back up her banter.

Something is going on this year, so many leaving/axed, I am beginning to wonder if there has been a but of a mutiny about giant being axed like the media were saying and the production company just got rid of them all.

He's terrible. There was some 'gossip' about him a couple of years ago involving a 'vulnerable' younger woman (by younger, I mean younger than him) but can't remember for the life of me the details now, it must have been on here I read it.

Athena has posted on her social media that she is totally healthy.

When the Giant fans were moaning the show wouldn’t be the same without him and it was an outrage etc I was like “get over it” but now it’s Cyclone I’m ready to riot

Giant brought it all on himself.......


It will be interesting what the atmosphere is like on friday when we go. Some people say its a strange atmosphere so will be interesting if thats true.
