And yet somehow Apollo survives. A man with less charisma than Joe Sugg and almost as bad a singing voice as Dynamite.

We were at the filming for Gladiators a few weeks ago and at the beginning they introduce the gladiators one by one, and they come out and strut their stuff. Nitro and Legend got the biggest cheer, but Apollo got a polite applause at best even the new glads no one had heard of got a more enthusiastic welcome

He does, and it's not even an act like Legend puts on, he really does think he's something! Minger. Viper can sod off too

I love Harry, he comes across as one of the nicest people on TV, whether he's on Glads or other shows.

Cyclone has gone permanently. All traces of her as a gladiator removed from her social media pages.

So sad, as she was amazing on the show and so gorgeous and lovely when we met her.

It makes no sense why they got rid of Cyclone but kept Sabre if we are comparing performance. I was going to say another gladiator but it’s been confirmed she’s gone too.

they have nearly filmed the entire show already, so it could just be a few quick games for a special episode.

People who have been to the recordings have reported a few special Gladiator v Gladiator games involving Gladiators from different countries versions of the show, so maybe part of that.

I think they are going to play 4 normal games, one Glad v Glad game and the eliminatior each episode.

I don't mind things being changed, like new games and new Gladiators. I am also not 100% against them dropping a game if it prevents injury. What i am worried about is that they are adding a lot of ' gimmicky' stuff that will be part of the main show. The show is strong enough to stand on its own with out gimmicks being added.

Imo people have asked for international matches, glad v glad etc, but they want them as extra alongside the show, rather than part of it. A UK v the world special would be fun, or a glad v glad special. People would probably enjoy these more than the current Christmas special.

From what we saw last week I think you're right about the 4 events, Glad v Glad and Eliminator. The Glad v Glad bit was ok but it didnt feel worth dropping an event for. They reused the same event we had just watched the contenders do, so I hope they mix it up a bit and slot in a different event when they edit the show together. We had the fastest runner up competition as well which was basically the same event as the QF contenders. So we got 6 events, but only 4 different games.

Really felt like they were cost cutting, especially as apart from the first one which was already set up, the games we got were very simple and quick to set up. The new game only involved 1 Gladiator taking on 2 contenders at the same time which felt a bit cheap (and quicker to film) too.

We got there at 11.30, filming the events didnt start till 2.30 and it was over by 7.30. We were there till nearly 9 last year and filming started at 12.

Tbh I think the costume design people probably heard Hammer and thought of him as being like a Circus strongman, using a Hammer to hit one of those ' test my strength' machines, but the people who do intro graphics assumed he would be Thor. So his theme is a bit muddled.

I thing Fire gets an interesting costume as well, as she is the only one to have her legs fully covered. I initially thought that maybe she preferred her legs being covered up, but I wonder if it is meant to look a bit like her winter Olympics costume.

@Facehugger I am with you on Sabre. Cannot stand her and the stupid cat ears. Mine started after she had a tenper tantrum about an event she went to and someone called her Sabre and she kicked off saying she was a business woman and not everything is about Gladiators ffs.

Not surprised, she comes across as completely up her own backside, if she was chocolate she'd eat herself no doubt. Sorry your little one is upset about Cyclone, hope you still have a great time though x

Me too. She's not been good at any of the events for the past few series, I think they only keep her around because the dads fancy her.

I'm new to finding this thread and it may have already been discussed, but Hammer also gives me the ick

After seeing him on Great British Sewing Bee Christmas special last year. Bless him in his 1970's Oxford Bags, Dockers, gingham ribbon in his hair and the like, It looked like he'd got lost on his way out up to Sheffield to a Northern Soul All Nighter, and found his way into a sewing comp instead.

Laughed all the way through it and now cannot take him seriously dressed in lycra banging his hammer about

The comment about them not airing her skills seems a little salty, doesn't sound to me like someone who is happy about the situation. But maybe I'm reading too much into that!

If it is a one off hiatus for her wedding, (I think she's had a legal one and will be having a bigger one soon?), why would she book it to clash with her probably most lucrative job? Maybe she doesn't need the money I suppose.

So Comet, Giant, Athena, Cyclone and Phantom () not in this series.

But I think she’s probably the weakest of the girls. She Seems to rely on being gorgeous and prancing about rather than actually competing. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Gladiators were told to throw events, I could see someone like Cyclone not wanting that but Sabre probably wouldn’t mind.

We've been at the filming of one of the Quarter Finals today, coincidentally exactly a year since we went last time.

We saw 3 of the new Gladiators and one new event, which was quite good and as much a psychologically taxing event as a physical one. Compared with last year though, it didn't have the same magic and excitement. Some of the gladiators felt underused and though the contenders were brilliant, we didn't feel that 4 events was enough to really root for them. Even the warm up guy didn't seem as engaging as last year.

We've had a good day out for free though

The tickets are good for free. But travelling over 200 miles, a hotel for a few nights and getting stung in the merch shop I spent a bloody fortune

What annoyed me the most is kids sizes stop at 9-10. I have a tall child and had to buy an adults size small which was an additional £15 over the price of the kids ones. Rip off bastards.

Will still apply next year for tickets though.
