Sunday weather forecast is dark, dreary and wet which means; couch, blanket, candle, brew and watching from episode 1….again

sheer bliss

It's rather bittersweet to see it come to an end, but I'm sure they'll do other fantastic things together. They really are a talented bunch.

We’ve just finished watching series 2 of the American one and it’s really grown on us. There were some really good moments this series.

I've only just recently discovered Ghosts. I have flown through all 4 seasons in a couple of weeks. Just coming to the end of S4 so perfect timing for S5.

New series definitely starts on Friday 6th October on BBC1 at 8.30pm. Hurrah, less than a week to go!

You’re getting over-excited - it’s just under a fortnight to go

(Panicked a bit when I first read your post, as if it’s less than a week until 6th October I’ve missed several important work deadlines!)

Ahh christ, you're right, it's nearly a fortnight away... duh!! I obviously can't wait!

I'm excited for the new series but I also don't want it because that means it's ending. But also I want it to end with me still wanting more so I'm glad they aren't flogging it to death.

Do we know if there's a Christmas special this year?

Just seen on TV that All Creatures Great and Small also starts again on the 5th. That's me sorted for cosy TV.

I finally got round to watching the Comic Relief episode with Kylie earlier. Given that those kinds of mini episodes are normally rubbish, it was really good. Very cleverly constructed.

According to my TV guide all 6 episodes will be available from the 6th.
I've come back around to enjoying periodically released shows, so I think I'll definitely be watching on a schedule. More fun in getting the snacks ready, the hot water bottle, and getting the cosy autumnal vibes set every week!

I came to the show quite late, and honestly, I sort of wished I'd paced myself!

How are we all feeling about the final series?

I just wanted to write this somewhere. I hope you don't mind or judge. I'm reading so many things on FB where people are speculating that Alison and Mike will have a baby in the final series. Some of the spoilers make it sound they will. "A big life changing news" etc.

I really hope they don't.

I'm going through fertility shit / losses etc and have been searching for our baby for nearly 7 years now. It's so unusual to have a series that isn't triggering and where they show a happy and complete couple without a baby being at the centre of their desires / world. I love that and it's definitely subconsciously been part of why I return to watching this series so often. I don't want to lose that and I hope they're wrong.

Martha Howe Douglas (Fanny Button) - the only woman of the 6 writers - is a childless, successful and happy mature woman. Childless by choice or by circumstance is unclear and irrelevant. I had thought maybe she was portraying this happy and fulfilling relationship without children for whatever reason you are in that situation for on purpose. I hope they stick to it. It's subtle but powerful for so many people like me. A safe space on the television where you know you won't be triggered. It may seem a small thing to some, but a huge thing for people like me

It also seems like the premise, humour and heart of the show doesn't need that to happen. It would be tokenistic. Why can't they continue as they are? The 2 of them? (And all the ghosts )

Thanks for reading and sorry for dumping my thoughts here

@IllBredHen I completely understand where you're coming from! I also really like that they're a happy couple without kids.

I am a sucker for an epilogue or flash forward and like the idea of a 'next generation' being able to see the Ghosts, but that could easily be a child of one of Mike's sisters - inheriting the home from their aunt and uncle etc.
