When my son was a toddler, 25 or so years ago, the thinking was that gender stereotypes needed to be brought crashing down. There was no reason not to buy a dolls pram for a boy, after all, men push prams all the time. Why were we buying tiny pink vacuum cleaners and mops...is it that the girls are expected to do the housework? We were encouraged to let our children play with dolls houses and lego and Barbie and train sets (in reality, anyone with children of both sexes saw this in action every day).

My son was also an asthmatic, who was prescribed powerful medications on several occasions, including steroids. Just as soon as he was well, we wanted him off the meds, this was carefully controlled and managed by our GP and his consultant. The thought of parents trawling trans reddit boards, trying to find a drug regime for ther prepubescent child, so that he never goes through male puberty, is just horrific to me. Puberty blockers are used in cancer treatment, it's not like dosing the kid up on Calpol ffs. Talking about female hormones and the kid being "definitely not male"...what have they done to that poor boy? It just makes me want to cry.

NHS Fife are absolutely unbelievable. Her lawyer has confirmed that they are raising a new complaint against NHS Fife in the employment tribunal to deal with this further harassment.

I am absolutely fuming. Unbelievable behaviour. I hope that they all rot in hell. Seriously, I hope the tribunal judge tears a strip off them for their arrogance and dismissal of legal due process.

In a Facebook group someone has posted for advice because they are concerned about a child they know who’s living with a ‘trans’ parent, flat is absolutely filthy and unhygienic, and parent does the school run in mini skirts and latex crop tops. In the comments they’re being ripped into for being ‘judgmental’. Yet if it was a woman with a filthy flat and inappropriate clothing on the school run you could bet the comments would be different. strange how TIMs don’t want to change in front of bio-men but don’t understand that women don’t want to!

To be honest, I don't want to change with TIF'S either. I find their voluntary masectomy scars offensive. My mum's got breast cancer, these women are a fucking joke. I know they're unwell, but who on earth would have this done deliberately? The doctors want striking off too, they're all butchers.

Working in healthcare is a vocation - you deal with the most gross and sensitive parts of human existence. Most of the people you deal with are compromised in some way, in pain or mental distress and may act out of character. You need a strong constitution and a robust sense of self to deal with this and maintain professional boundaries. Dr Upton, like many trans people, demonstrates none of these things. Entirely too self absorbed, fragile and easily agitated to work in healthcare.

Well yes. Once people can identify their way into the opposite sex changing rooms, all the changing rooms are "gender neutral" (unisex). So there's now no option for anyone who can't tolerate a mixed sex space but three of them for those who can. So a woman who doesn't want a man in the women's space should exclude HERSELF from the women's space and go into the one where men are openly permitted instead of having to say they're women first. Thanks for that, EDI brainiacs.

Besides, if you're like Dr Uphimself and don't believe sex exists, why would you want access to the female space? Isn't the gender neutral one the one that aligns with your sincere belief? How do you even know the difference if sex is a nebulous concept?

Amazing how, when it suits them, they always know who the women are. Fife NHS looks set to sack a woman and potentially leave her open to be struck off over unproven and highly disputed statements made by a man and we're still supposed to believe they don't know which one is which?

Do you think if I elbowed my way into a posh hotel, started clicking my fingers at the staff, and demanded to be treated like a member of the landed gentry, I'd get away with it? Or is that sort of entitled behaviour only allowed if you're a man in a dress, demanding to use a women-only space?

Do the Lambrini girls they think that insulting women who are fighting to protect the rights of all females, is somehow "punk"? Don't make me laugh. They're the epitome of middle-class lasses rebelling against mummy and daddy, they're from Brighton (of course ) and hurling insults at terfs probably makes them feel grown-up. Why the Scottish Express is referring to Dr Beth Upton as a 'man' in Fife nurse tribunal

Right from the start, the Scottish Express has been referring to Dr Upton as a man, and using male pronouns when referring to him. This is not out of any toxic bigotry or malign intent: it is simply stating a fact.

First and foremost, we are calling him a man because biologically he is a man. He was born and grew up as a male, called Theodore Upton, and he has not obtained a gender recognition certificate to allow him to legally change his gender (not his sex; it is, of course, impossible for a human being to change sex).

Well I’m re-peaked.
I used to be fairly vocal on gender critical twitter and had about 1k followers - almost all Scottish gender critical peeps. About 2 years ago I decided to step back. For lots of reasons, mainly because it was taking over my life and part of me still wants to “be kind”. There are people within the movement I don’t particularly want to be associated with as they’re very right wing and although we may agree on this- in general I feel like they’re sort of cunts.

Anyway the coverage of this in the media has been shite, but my initial impression was that I would feel the same as Sandie Peggie but that I felt sorry for Beth Upton and that the NHS had let them down. Started following the updates a couple of days ago to properly educate myself and NAAHH. Beth Upton is a liar and has obviously fabricated accusations against Sandie. It’s so obvious. He’s also an absolute nut job who isn’t fit to be a medical dr.

I just wish credible newspapers would cover this better. People need to see that this person was basically stalking Sandie Peggie for 4 months before the changing room confrontation for the crime of not undressing in front of him. Sure The Express and The Mail might be covering it properly, but people not politically aligned with those newspapers (including me) aren’t going to take that coverage seriously

I am so so heartily sick of this shit.

I used to be far more lenient on this issue - until I learned more about it.
Now, I think there are a very, VERY few genuine cases of gender dysphoria and for those men, if they want to make twats of themselves dressing up in women’s clothes - well, crack on. Don’t expect me to pretend I see you as a woman though. I’m sorry for your mental illness - it must be unpleasant for you - but I’m not going to pretend I share your delusion. Oh and keep out of women’s spaces.

The vast, VAST majority are perverts. AGP sickos with usually other fetishes too. They need to be exposed and shamed. Kink shaming in general should be encouraged. I don’t hate all trans people but I hate the ideology.

This Dr Upton deserves to lose everything good in his life. I feel the same about his wife. How desperate and pathetic do you have to be in order to pander to a bloke like him? She should be deeply ashamed of supporting him.

I have no liking for Trump. He’s ghastly. However on the trans issue he’s spot on.

2 gay politicians not able to go to Pride because their parties aren't doing what the TRAs want them to. It's mad that gay people are being excluded from pride now.

Someone mentioned the Tate's '80s exhibition a few pages back, which was predictably all about LGBTWTF and other minorities, which got me thinking.

The TRAs are retconning gay history. For a start, there was no such thing as "the LGBTQ community" in the '80s. There were gay men, there were lesbians and there were a few bisexual people who were accepted as being "gay enough". The few transwomen there were were attracted to men and thus classed themselves as being straight, rather than gay. Drag was a thing, as was the exhibitionist club scene, but it was a minority interest. The gay scene revolved around men having a lot of sex with each other, usually surreptitiously as the law wasn't on their side. The stereotypical face of gay UK wasn't a sadfaced trans person with rainbow hair, sporting a pronoun badge, it was a parodically-macho gay man with a 'tache and a collection of tight t-shirts. Sadly, many of those who were there and part of it are no longer with us, so others with an agenda are free to recreate history in their own image.
