I don’t know which sport this was

ETA: interesting debate in comments. I saw this as a show of support to women but a couple of comments think that because they are men they shouldn’t do the XX. But an XY. Torn on this! Also presuming this was their intention in the first place and not somesort of other ritual

'the person from the UN' - who would normally only intervene in international conflict situations

“She won despite all the smear campaigns!”

Yes, Khelif still won because chromosomes can’t be altered by posts on X, or indeed at all. I only hope this isn’t quite the victory some people think it is; Khelif winning doesn’t mean “JK Rowling lost.”

I actually think Khelif pummelling these women so obviously might have been a bad move for the movement, not that Khelif seems to care.

I think, although we may never see any evidence, that defeating a Chinese person by cheating will not bode well for the IOC or the Algerians

ETA - I don't think the Algerians will provide much support for Khelif once the games are over - they've probably made their money on betting, he will be cast aside until the next 'winner' comes along.

A few comments saying they've been doing this for a while, it's from the film Black Panther.

It certainly has another meaning now though so hopefully they were aware of #XX and did it anyway.

Problem is that the Taiwanese male is identified as coming from "Chinese Taipei" so I think they may have their own vested interests.

Fantastic. Man wins women’s gold. Man will probably win women’s gold tomorrow. I know this should probably motivate me to want to do more and fight more but I just cannot be arsed. Men are the worst.
Same tbh. What can we even do. The IOC really don’t want to listen.

But they are showing the world how inept they are:

BIB - Clearly, he has never read The Day of the Jackal - for younger readers the Jackal gets fake passports by finding children's graves and using their identities to get new passports.
I mean fake passports are a massive industry, and if your government is colluding, you don't even need a fake one.

The IOC has pretty much said that it doesn't care that he is male. They know it perfectly well. The gloating from misogynists is sickening.

I’m not sure that Canadian X was anything to do with women, sadly - I’ve seen it’s a Wakanda thing, whatever that is.

I’m on a family big birthday weekend. I’ve peaked everyone. I’m sick of hearing myself bang on about it all.

I’ll wait for the kids on X and Reddit to work out that JK Rowling only “lost” if Khelif’s test results come out saying XX.

The gold medal victory and the manner of the wins along the way prove JK Rowling’s point.

We’ll be like this still waiting for them to work it out. They’re not really the smartest bunch.

Do we have any XY chromosome individuals - competing as a “female” in any sports where testosterone does not offer an advantage?

Good point. I shan’t hold my breath.

Some of the most wilfully stupid posts I’ve ever seen on Twitter have been about this boxer, and that’s saying something.

That’s not really a surprise. Their mental gymnastics could probably win more Olympic medals than Simon Biles

Part of me wants to sign back up to Twitter to see the nonsense they’re saying but I don’t want to lose brain cells or break my phone by throwing it at a wall after reading their dumb takes.

ETA stupid takes are also in the Facebook comments of the BBC News post about his gold medal.

Bit of a tangent but Steve Backley was so gorgeous back in the day.
