My son won’t use the loos at school because they are lawless and it’s where people go to vape or beat other people up - and he has single sex loos! He is also really fed up of having repeated lessons and assemblies where they are all treated like little criminals. He knows full well about consent and treating everyone with respect (and not to knife anyone or do drugs) and, as he said, the ones who are going to do that stuff aren’t going to be put off by an assembly.

this really frustrated me. I can perhaps understand if they wanted a separate thread for general discussion as that thread is usually about specific crimes but to single out the ideology part of it to be discussed elsewhere just sums it all up doesn’t it?Apologies for quoting myself - I don't know why my post was singled out for mod attention? I’m sure this happened before though. Can’t remember the details now but complaints of the thread being derailed. (Not trans related but something else). But I find it happens when there is a particularly shocking crime and the thread gets busy with a wider discussion related to it. I don’t have an issue with it, I think it’s usually insightful. And these things usually settle after a few days anyway.

One of the main reasons I voted Labour and not snp at the latest election was because the law they brought in about it being easier to change your sex assigned to you. This terrified me, I don't want to share a space with someone who is still a man. It's just not worth thinking about. Like I said on the other thread I don't believe anyone should be offered blocker tablets or surgery until they are at least 18 and have been through therapy to understand what changing sex does. It's not a nice procedure at all.

Captured several years ago unfortunately:Just visited a secondary school with my 10 year old. Gender neutral toilets. Gender ideology everywhere, every room and lots of the posters obviously made by the kids. I’m not exaggerating! Signs for a Pride lunchtime club. Large display of protected characteristics, one for gender reassignment and then the one for ‘Sex’ had the word ‘gender’ in brackets underneath.
It’s a CofE academy. I’m tempted to give them some feedback
It encourages clergy to be “creative and sensitive” when approached by transgender people requesting a way of marking this transition in their lives.
It details how elements including water and oil can be used with the prayers and makes clear that trans people should be addressed publicly by their chosen name.
As part of the service trans people could also be presented with gifts, such as a Bible inscribed in their new name, or a certificate.
“The Church of England welcomes and encourages the unconditional affirmation (my emphasis) of trans people, equally with all people, within the body of Christ, and rejoices in the diversity of that body into which all Christians have been baptized by one Spirit,” the guidance emphasises.
The document - approved by the House of Bishops - follows a motion overwhelmingly adopted at General Synod in 2017 recognising the need for transgender people to be welcomed and affirmed in churches.

I know I’ve had plenty of angry or sick emojis on my GC posts over the years (the Carrie Fletcher thread was particularly abundant!) but I don’t cry about it. I do sometimes check the ratio to see which way the thread is swinging and I’m quite pleased with the crime thread. I only caught up tonight and the earlier GC posts were very strongly supported by likes and hearts
I have to say I feel a bit sorry for those parents. They’re screwed. If they refuse to accept their child’s new identity, they fear their child will cut them out of their lives… or worse.Especially those that are transing their own kidsthey will never accept they’ve caused harm.
They have to accept their new trans son or daughter because they believe they have no alternative.
I feel like there’s a difference between those kind of parents, and the ones who shout from the rooftops about My Trans Kid. I mean they both make my stomach twist in knots, just in different ways.

Also why do so many adults feel comfortable saying they love other people's children? Weirdos.
I don't like the term 'educate yourself' but honestly, some of my fellow women do need to do just that.
I have some empathy initially, I think it must truly be a nightmare for parents feeling conflicted when faced with teenage demands and signs of poor mental health and maybe threats of self harm. But I think once they choose to go along with it to the extent of binders, saying they have a daughter instead of a son, changing names and pronouns etc I lose any empathy I may have had really quickly. Even more so when the kids are 12,13,14 years old.
I agree there are different types of parents though. I think some kids get railroaded into it by parents with some other agenda (looking at the Tennants here) and others probably wish it was never happening.

I have a couple of friends whose son is 12 and had a special assembly last year about Andrew Tate and why he's the Antichrist. Anyhow. Son and two of his friends got dragged into the headmaster's office for being caught sitting in a row doing that handclaspy thing that Andrew Tate does. When asked if they knew what this meant and whether they actually listened to the content of that assembly, they said that they did, and that they were well aware that Tate is full of tit and a con artist and sex criminal. They just wanted to yank the staff's chains.
Teenagers are not stupid. Immature, yes, but not stupid. You can't talk down to them and expect anything good to come of it. You have to start encouraging them to act in a responsible adult way. Pandering to their whims and "maybe I'm a girl now" bollox isn't that.
When I was a teenager the thing I got into trouble for the most was "answering back" which meant "showing up an adult" in practice. Like once in RE we had this woman from some anti-abortion group who came in, reeled off a load of exploded a thousand times talking points about the subject and then claimed that there were holes in condoms wide enough for five AIDS viruses to waltz through side by side.
Unfortunately I had my Chemistry textbook with me and my interruption of "it says here that a water molecule is only so many angstroms wide, that's smaller than an AIDS virus but condoms are watertight aren't they?" went down like a cup of cold sick.
I was called "closed minded" and "needed to listen to other peoples' views."
My reply of "but if I was open minded my brain would fall out" went down even worse.
Were I a teenager now, I would probably end up with a criminal record for hate crimes after dropping some home truths about gender woo. Wasn't there one girl who was in effect harassed out of school by her compatriots with the school's connivance a couple years back because she was overhead liking a gender critical guest speaker or something?
