Well, that’s the first time I’ve ever felt patronised by a bus. Who knew it was even possible? The phrase “you are loved” is so mawkish and stupid, and it also makes me think of a backhanded compliment. Like when someone who secretly hates your guts says “I don’t care what everyone else says, I think you’re great”. “You are loved” reads to me like - “I know you think everyone hates you, but my heart is so brimming over with love, I’ve got plenty to spare for awful old you”. As with every witless TRA slogan, all that matters is that you say the words and show your obedience, doesn’t matter if it makes no bleeping sense at all.
Exactly! I hate mawkish greeting cards and praise like that, and so to be waiting for a bus and having to sit on that monstrosity which appears to obscure the view from the window (🙄), ugh, I would be fuming.

There’s something about the progress flag colours that’s just so jarring anyway, but like the crossings, why change something that’s meant to be distinctive and functional?
Is there any other ideology or group of people that are so constantly pushed, and permanently having to be affirmed and validated? When I see all the constant promotion from public bodies, governments and the TRA it sometimes feels like the feelings of trans people are all that matter any more.
It's also a display of power - Here's what we are going to do and we don't care what you think.
The powers that be are rubbing our noses in it.

Bunch of people. The 129 (so far) MPs who have signed the Early Day Motion tabled by Nadia Whittome to reject the EHRC Code of Practice. The usual suspects - mostly Labour with Lib Dems, Greens, Plaid and SNP and independents like Corbyn and Abbott. They are bloody tiresome.

It just seems so weird to have a politician saying "trans people deserve love" - such a bizarre idea that any group of people "deserve love". You deserve love from your parents and that's it. It's certainly not the business of MPs, our legislators, to decide that "trans people deserve love". How do you legislate for the love that they deserve? They already have equality and more than equality, but now they've got a right to love?

Exactly this. And that's why, seeing the flags - presumably put up by Dublin City Council - makes me feel ill.
I actually find that flag, especially when there are rows of them, oppressive. They represent an ideology that I find totally abhorrent. I don’t think ANY ideological/political flags and emblems should be flown by any public body. They should be neutral and not promoting certain movements. I feel the same about work lanyards

When I was a tiny tot, I got badge on a birthday card from my dear Grandad, saying ‚You are loved‘ on it. I still have the badge, because I really was loved. 🖤 Applying this phrase to politics and to strangers is meaningless, tacky and shows the level of the discourse. It fits with the infantilisation of trans; the bleeping pink and blue and men becoming girls, not women (as if they can be either).

Must admit I always think of pronoun people as either 'it' or 'that' and yes I use the tone of disgust in my head :ROFLMAO:
I always go “uuuggghhh” out loud because I can’t be arsed with them looking for attention. They’re just after a “gotcha”moment or looking for people to ask about it. Sorry I’m too bored to play into your lame excuse of a trap.

Well, yeah, you're a bus company, you can't go round discriminating against people. Out of interest, how many wheelchairs can be accommodated on your bus at any one time? Pushchairs? How many of your drivers have received dementia training?

The windows are kind of obscured anyway with a UV protective sort of mesh thing (?) so we don't burn on the bus. I think that's what it's for, apologies if I'm not making sense, having a flare up of that well-known TIM disease endometriosis so I'm a bit off today.

As for You Are Loved, duck off with that. I don't want to be loved by everyone. The only strangers I want loving me are random dogs I meet on my daily stroll.

Or people with support and companion animals (that don't fit under the legal allowances of official service animals)?
Or neuro divergent people that may ask for assistance/directions?
Or people with push-bikes who are trying travel long distances and leave their cars at home?
Or people with several small children who require a longer time to get them seated and safe before the bus takes off?
It's all just so bloody EXCLUSIONARY!!!

I very rarely go on a bus, but the vast majority of passengers where I am are the very elderly, who might have mobility issues, hearing impairment or visual impairment. Also carers accompanying a person with additional needs. These are the people who need to be included with practical ways to make boarding and travelling safe, not painting ridiculous flags to make the most self obsessed people on earth feel “safe” and included. I’m sure plenty of LGB people use public transport on a daily basis without feeling excluded. It’s the trans element, that just have to be treated as the most important and special people on earth. Anything less is hate in their eyes. Every time I see that flag ( which fortunately in real life isn’t that often) I do a mental eye roll and think “Oh do duck off”.

This list is excellent.
I always remember when my precious first born was tiny, taking her into town on the bus. It was very crowded and people were stood in the wheelchair/buggy slot and I didn't really know what to do because they didn't actually bother getting out of the way. The driver was bleeping vile to me and basically said I needed to either get in the buggy space, fold the buggy or get off the bus. I was a massive inconvenience. Totally ruined my confidence and apart from the trip home, I literally never took her on another bus until she was about 5. It limited what I was able to do and where I was able to go.

It's almost like 'they deserve love' = 'if you don't also love them then there's something evil about you, you must fawn upon them because we say so' 🤢

I read the guy's response in a very bad Scottish accent 😂
Don't worry about your bad Scottish accent - simply self indentify as Scottish and then tell David Tennant that you're more Scottish than him!
That's the kind of logic that he and "allies" like to use!
