Apologies if this has been posted before. Absolutely terrifying that the nursing professional body thinks that being gender critical is a disciplinary matter. Imagine healthcare prioritising a nonsensical cult over biological facts. How did it ever come to this? Would it be acceptable to discipline someone over their political or religious beliefs? Yet, to think men are actually men, and women are women is somehow considered so offensive, outrageous and unacceptable?

No wonder the NHS is in crisis when nurses are forced to deny biology

Only 9 MPs have signed Claire Coutinho’s letter. I guess the rest of them think it’s perfectly fine for a black nurse to be sacked for referring to a paedophile who called her a n** and is HELD IN A MALE PRISON he. While she was fitting him with a catheter.

I absolutely loathe DEI because it ALWAYS prioritises trans over everything else. There’s a lot of good that it could be doing, but as it is, I’m afraid I see it as part of the TRA movement, and another way to demonise gender critical thinking.

I‘m obsessively listening to the This Isn’t Working podcast and there is no evidence behind most DEI initiatives and in fact, many of them have a negative impact rather than neutral. They don’t improve the workplace, they don’t improve financial performance, they don’t make people happier. Instead they’ve led a culture where only one POV is permitted, thereby reducing diversity of thought and crushing any dissenting opinions. And that is not how healthy organisations thrive.

The DEI team that appeared during covid at my workplace got moved into one of the nicer offices in my building whereas two other teams got shunted into bleeper rooms, and yet whenever I walk past the DEI office the room is practically empty because they seem to all work from home all the time. But such a fuss was made at the time that they NEEDED this particular office. The team does also seem to have gone quite quiet the last 6 months as they don't seem to be as aggressive with their messaging on internal bulletins. 2023-24 was the peak for that in my workplace but it has been a while since they reminded us about pronouns on emails, etc.

New thread! The last thread saw the (genuinely) stunning and brave Darlington nurses win their tribunal against their NHS trust, the ruling finding that they had been harassed for daring to speak out against a man being allowed to use the female only changing rooms in their hospital. Ladies...

Also, I think she was using his pronouns in a medical context - he apparently needed a catheter.

Catheters...when knowing the biological sex of a patient takes precedence.

Spoiler: Catheters are not one size.

My elderly father ended up with an infection when a nurse inserted a female catheter. I sent a formal letter of complaint to the local health board on his behalf. After NHS investigations, it turned out the pharmacy had made the initial error, supplying a female catheter on a male patient's regular catheter prescription.. The nurse stated that she thought the catheter wasn't the correct length but did not query it further as it had been supplied on prescription. The pharmacy was reprimanded, the nurse sent for retraining.

As a disabled woman I bloody hate DEI. Has it helped me in the workplace, of course it has. But now a small minority have commandeered it for their own selfish gains. Trans people make up a tiny minority in society yet they seem to be present in everything.

My husband was the lead in his educational setting and was tasked with finding new employees. So he set to and interviewed various people and chose someone who had the right credentials and experience. His top boss went mental at him as he had chosen a white man to fill the role (he was Italian and spoke 4 different languages and had 20 years experience) but not the trans candidate (man to woman) and not the black person. Neither had the same amount of experience or spoke different languages. In fact they had been given interviews based on the “guaranteed interview” scheme. My husband had to explain his reason for not offering the role to them and how it was for the benefit of the university. She was mad as hell. Baring in mind this is the same woman who would take the piss out of Welsh people knowing full well my husband is Welsh. She thought that wasn’t racist but him choosing an Italian man who spoke 4 different languages over tick box candidates was!

NHS were lucky we didn't take it any further. Sheer incompetence.

I love the pottery show but I can't help wishing Fynn would have a disaster and get eliminated. Honestly for a demographic that's supposed to be 0.05% of the population, trans identifying people are way overrepresented in the media. Has there even been a disabled contestant on the pottery programme? I know they've had a couple of arm amputees and at least one Deaf person on the bake off and sewing programmes, but never a wheelchair user except when Hannah Cockroft was on celeb bake off.
