Is anyone massively surprised by the judge’s verdict with Sandie Peggie’s tribunal?
how many times have we seen a judge give a man a pathetic sentence when he’s been found guilty of some horrific sex offence. Men always side with men.

It is absolutely terrifying, and both sides wonder why more people, especially women, don't put their head above the parapet.

I was listening to a political podcast, Urgent questions, last night and they was a Labour MP (also a lawyer) saying that removing juries will not speed up trials, and it's simply a cost cutting exercise but the Govt aren't being honest about it.
He said that things that delay trials are prisoner transport (non category 1 defendants are transferred to court by private firms like Serco who are often late to court so the trial is delayed) or courtrooms in bad repair (such as having no working heating etc). He was a former colleague of Lammy and he was very angry with the proposals. Apparently it was recommended by a judge who's not sat in court for 20 odd years so hasn't got a clue about the problems trials currently face.

Heard similar on the Double Jeopardy podcast where one of the guests they had on said that because Judges need to give reasoned decisions, scrapping juries will mean that they spend a lot of time writing decisions that they will not be sitting hearing cases. They said similar about he issues of court time being wasted because of failures to bring defandants to court. It was a really interesting episode

I'm the same. Because of places I've worked, I only ever access this forum via Duck Duck Go and never write anything on Meta sites that could be used against me.

I have got a bit braver the past year and now will discuss GC views in person, if I feel I'll be listened to and that even if they disagree with me, it will be a respectful debate. I've noticed though a lot of people, especially women, are in agreement but feel they can't say what they really think. If I start talking to them, they seem to relax because they can finally say what they feel without judgement or worse.

Someone I manage though has a trans friend so I'm more careful taking about GC stuff with him. His friend sounds like a right bell end though! He recently got married then decided he was a 'woman' within months, then cheated on his wife with a mutual female friend. They are now getting divorced and the TIM seems to have a bit of a victimhood mindset going on (surprise surprise...)

It sounds like theres a lot of issues stemming from previous governments (probably Blair/Brown) privatising sections of the justice system, probably to cost cut. So private firms running prisons, prisoner transport etc and running them as cheaply as possible to maximise company profits. In the meantime the system gets worse due to lack of investment. You can bet all the prisoner being recently released by accident is related.

Similarly with all the new hospitals that got built by private/public partnerships. Sodexo has the hospital contact for 20 years then hands it back but they only build them to last for 20 years ..

I can't get any information on what Robin Ince has said that is apparently so problematic, it looks like he may have come in for some criticism on SM about his pro-trans views, but they seem a far cry from the grape / death treats aimed at the GC side.

From what I have read though, he seems incredibly hard work.

eta the statement is weird because I would have thought bbc execs would be all over his trans views in support so maybe he is just too much hard work to deal with.

I once listened to a couple of episodes of the "Monkey Cage" podcast, and Robin Ince was completely superfluous, he brought absolutely nothing to the show, he's not funny and he's as dumb as a bag of rocks. Brian Cox sounded at the edge of exasperation several times after he was interrupted by Ince and his unfunny asides.
He probably thinks he's some kind of martyr now, sacrificing his stellar career on the altar of tr@nnie-love, but I highly doubt that anyone will notice or care.
