Oh I adore this show! I’ve been in bed poorly with virus symptoms for 10 days, so I’ve been watching the older episodes on More4 every afternoon, they show a whole week per day so no waiting!
Good idea!! I'd totally forgotten about this thread! Can we please bring this thread back, I’m completely obsessed with four in a bed atm![]()
Pair of idiots. He needs to lay off the salt never mind moaning about the lack of it. I bet their place will be full of issues. The father and daughter are far too picky about returning.
If you look on Trip Advisor there are numerous bad reviews that were written before the show even aired. Their replies to these negative reviews speaks volumes imho. Very passive aggressive.Apparently Tom has left their place a 5 star review on Google and posted this
We have received some poor reviews from people who haven’t actually stayed here, at the Penrallt Country House Hotel, but watched the carefully edited light entertainment TV programme, Four in a Bed. Neither Angela or I claim to “know better than everyone”, we are always learning; however we do believe that we provide a service and setting that is of high quality and good value - please bear in mind the price quoted in the show is our mid summer weekend rate.
We wish the other contestants the greatest success in their business’. The only reason we said we wouldn’t stay again was because we don’t personally tend to stay in guest houses or self catering, which is a personal choice.
Reviews from paying guests, not being filmed, are almost always positive; and that is down to our incredible team who go above and beyond, and to Angela who works tirelessly to ensure that guests and staff are well looked after. It may please you to know I’m very rarely here, as I work away.
So rather than judging our beautiful hotel, and the people who work here, from a light entertainment TV programme with an agenda, please come and visit us and judge from your own experience. If something isn’t to your liking then please tell us, as we encourage all of our guests, and we will do whatever we can to change it and make your stay a memorable one, for all the right reasons. The 5 stars are for Angela, our team and the beautiful hotel we call home.
While I absolutely agree that it's underhand and spurious to post reviews of anything based purely on an edited TV programme, Tom still comes across as deluded about their value, patronising and unwilling to learn anything. They both had expressions that'd turn the milk too.
I won't forget the 'not our kind of people' remark. Or the cheap looking continental and the meagre cooked breakfast options they had.
It's crazy how people represent themselves on this programme. Naive? reckless? utterly stupid? or maybe a combination of all three. Without question the game can be played, but the game players never really win.
It’s all rather odd isn’t it? It’s always “they’ve had to leave the competition for personal reasons.” We demand to know! One second they’re ringing a bell... the next they’re gone, without any explanation
She said she used to live around that area, so perhaps they had a better offer for the night
Edit: And there goes another! The quality of this show nowadays (worse than his undercooked eggs)
I don't think they should read feedback until they've all stayed at each others places, soon as anyone says anything negative, they go to the next place on the defensive!Another dull week - the formula desperately needs an overhaul
Been rewatching the lot with Charlotte Church’s parents on More 4. Even the narration was more interesting back in the day
The game players last week have no idea how much damage their actions on this programme will have done to their business.problem with this show is some couples are too tactical and it ruins it.
Totally agree, and how does she know the mark didn’t come from her case/make up etc? She didn’t seem to notice it until night time so it seems unfair to flag it as something the hotel had of hadn’t done…especially when she said about her “handmade cushion cover” that unless someone spilt red wine on it then she wouldn’t change it!I think there was some game playing yesterday because 3 Hills felt threatenedEmma marked them down on cleanliness for a tiny mark on the bedding yet when the same comment was made about her cushions today she brushed it off. There was a lot of discussion about hash browns in the full English breakfast too yet 3 Hills served hash browns & it wasn’t even mentioned! The first couple & Emma also made a big fuss about the price & whether The Lion (forget it’s name) offered value for money yet she charged the same & I couldn’t really see what extras she added to justify her point. Really not keen on the first couple or Emma this week, they don’t make sense…or perhaps the editing has gone haywire

It’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance and I think all those awards have pushed them into arrogance! It was the dark haired girl from the Lion and Swan’s faceHer comment really angered me too.![]()
