Oh I adore this show! I’ve been in bed poorly with virus symptoms for 10 days, so I’ve been watching the older episodes on More4 every afternoon, they show a whole week per day so no waiting!

Shane was a throughly unpleasant man and his daughter wasn’t much nicer either. Delusions of grandeur from both.
Yes, there was tit for tat but father and daughter could dish it out but not take it. The spit was disgusting behaviour.

I agree, they all know everything has to be shown on camera so why be so disbelieving and rude. Problems don't put me off going somewhere, the response to the problem does.

I could go up to my hotel room and it could be flooded and slightly on fire and it might not stop me going back, it depends how it's dealt with. I could also check in and the room is perfect but I wouldn't go back because the staff are fucking nightmares. You'd think they'd know all this.

Well this week was disappointing! Why sign up to a show where you know you’re setting yourself up for the same criticism you’re going to be dishing out then withdraw because you don’t like to hear it 🤯 I expect there were some histrionics behind the scenes (daughter) & the producers were left in the lurch but they made themselves look worse by pulling out & not defending their critique or being open to accepting they may need to brush up in certain areas. I hate to say it but the new series of FIAB has been boring thus far 😔

Apparently Tom has left their place a 5 star review on Google and posted this

We have received some poor reviews from people who haven’t actually stayed here, at the Penrallt Country House Hotel, but watched the carefully edited light entertainment TV programme, Four in a Bed. Neither Angela or I claim to “know better than everyone”, we are always learning; however we do believe that we provide a service and setting that is of high quality and good value - please bear in mind the price quoted in the show is our mid summer weekend rate.

We wish the other contestants the greatest success in their business’. The only reason we said we wouldn’t stay again was because we don’t personally tend to stay in guest houses or self catering, which is a personal choice.

Reviews from paying guests, not being filmed, are almost always positive; and that is down to our incredible team who go above and beyond, and to Angela who works tirelessly to ensure that guests and staff are well looked after. It may please you to know I’m very rarely here, as I work away.

So rather than judging our beautiful hotel, and the people who work here, from a light entertainment TV programme with an agenda, please come and visit us and judge from your own experience. If something isn’t to your liking then please tell us, as we encourage all of our guests, and we will do whatever we can to change it and make your stay a memorable one, for all the right reasons. The 5 stars are for Angela, our team and the beautiful hotel we call home.

While I absolutely agree that it's underhand and spurious to post reviews of anything based purely on an edited TV programme, Tom still comes across as deluded about their value, patronising and unwilling to learn anything. They both had expressions that'd turn the milk too.

I won't forget the 'not our kind of people' remark. Or the cheap looking continental and the meagre cooked breakfast options they had.

It's crazy how people represent themselves on this programme. Naive? reckless? utterly stupid? or maybe a combination of all three. Without question the game can be played, but the game players never really win.
If you look on Trip Advisor there are numerous bad reviews that were written before the show even aired. Their replies to these negative reviews speaks volumes imho. Very passive aggressive.

Why did Emma and Emily sleep in the kids bunk beds rather than the actual proper bed?
I don’t think anyone grasped that the Hotel of Wizardry price was for a suite for 6 people so worked out about 30-odd pounds a night per person rather than just between 2 people. It’s a seaside B&B geared for families and mainly kids so it’s not going to have anything easily breakable.
Loved the way she knocked £20 off for a kettle and got the hump at having £10 knocked off her price.
can’t believe the teen tiny hobbit homes won. I wonder if it would have been different if both people in the couple had to spend the night and crawl over each other to get out of bed for the toilet?

Tom sounded like uncle Bryn from gavin & Stacey 😆 he was obviously desperate to win , shame his formula didn’t work for him 🤔

Maxine didn’t do herself any favours either, a grown woman not able to ask for a specific breakfast item & then walking off, give over!

Both the other couples seemed lovely , and both had gorgeous places, hope they get some business from putting themselves through FIAB 🙂

Has anyone watched last week's? Blimey, 3 well over priced places ( one nearly £600) game players, even the word vendetta was used!! I didn't like any of them! If you can't be bothered to watch it all, I'd defo recommend watching payment day😲

One second they’re ringing a bell... the next they’re gone, without any explanation

She said she used to live around that area, so perhaps they had a better offer for the night 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Edit: And there goes another! The quality of this show nowadays (worse than his undercooked eggs)
It’s all rather odd isn’t it? It’s always “they’ve had to leave the competition for personal reasons.” We demand to know! 😜

Father and daughter bigged themselves up too much so the others were expecting more.
Sticky and greasy crockery and cutlery would have put me off too.
I got the impression that they didn’t turn up for payment day but that could have just been in the edit.

Another dull week - the formula desperately needs an overhaul

Been rewatching the lot with Charlotte Church’s parents on More 4. Even the narration was more interesting back in the day
I don't think they should read feedback until they've all stayed at each others places, soon as anyone says anything negative, they go to the next place on the defensive!

I think they were awful saying Hillary was playing a game by overpaying. She’s their target market, she raved about it the whole time, she used all of the facilities, she said she would be back soon and she said they don’t charge enough, and what she paid isn’t some wild amount, many self catering cottages or aparthotels in popular locations are £150+ a night!

They’ve made themselves look stupid and going by review sites and social media they’re going to lose business over it. When will the contestant learn winning doesn’t matter! So many weeks I would stay at the losers place and not the winners. So while the win would be nice, it’s not worth losing your business over!

It’s funny how some contestants seem to think that getting the plaque is everything - forgetting that how they’ve treated the other people is out there too.

I think if somewhere has online that they’re winners, people are just as likely to look into that as they are Trip Advisor reviews. The last few winners have seemed value for money run by (seemingly) genuine people, whereas the same thing can’t really be said for last night’s winners

The old bag with a face like a slapped arse said I happened to notice the top of the seal on the fridge was dirty ? Yes you would happen to notice it when you’ve got your fat face 3 inches from it and you’re pulling it back so you can see in the crevices. So happy Hillary over paid so they didn’t win.

problem with this show is some couples are too tactical and it ruins it.
The game players last week have no idea how much damage their actions on this programme will have done to their business.
They had to take down their Facebook page at the weekend due to all the hate and nasty reviews they were receiving. Trip Adviser also had to disable reviews for them.
It’s only a programme ffs, yes they were vile but to seek them out and send hate comments and fake reviews is not on.

I think there was some game playing yesterday because 3 Hills felt threatened 🤔 Emma marked them down on cleanliness for a tiny mark on the bedding yet when the same comment was made about her cushions today she brushed it off. There was a lot of discussion about hash browns in the full English breakfast too yet 3 Hills served hash browns & it wasn’t even mentioned! The first couple & Emma also made a big fuss about the price & whether The Lion (forget it’s name) offered value for money yet she charged the same & I couldn’t really see what extras she added to justify her point. Really not keen on the first couple or Emma this week, they don’t make sense…or perhaps the editing has gone haywire 🤷🏻‍♀️
Totally agree, and how does she know the mark didn’t come from her case/make up etc? She didn’t seem to notice it until night time so it seems unfair to flag it as something the hotel had of hadn’t done…especially when she said about her “handmade cushion cover” that unless someone spilt red wine on it then she wouldn’t change it!
---
Her comment really angered me too. 😡
It’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance and I think all those awards have pushed them into arrogance! It was the dark haired girl from the Lion and Swan’s face 😂
